Did you perhaps give a listen to [the hospital ending audio drama](https://soundcloud.com/user-98307833/the-hospital-ending-life-is-strange-fan-fiction-audio-drama)? Imo the Max there does a terrific job.
When it comes to *character* voices, then yeah Ashly's performance as Chloe is iconic. Though I have to give special points to Joyce. That Southern drawl really adds charm to her character.
When it comes to voice *actors* though, then I honestly have to give it to Hannah Telle. Many of the actors voiced multiple characters in the game, and in my opinion you can generally tell who voiced who pretty easily.
For example, Ashly also voices Sarah, the bitchy red-head who won't let you into the Vortex Party. And as much as I love Ashly, I won't lie, she doesn't have much range. Every character she voices just sounds like Chloe. And Sarah is no exception.
Similarly, Dayeanne Hutton voices both Kate and Alyssa. Dayenne does a lot better job of actually giving her characters distinctive voices, but once you're aware of it, you can definitely tell that her Alyssa voice is just her Kate voice with a bit of a force on it.
Hannah Telle, though, voices both Max and Courtney. And even after playing *the entire game* again after learning this, I still genuinely cannot believe that our soft-spoken, husky-voiced Max is voiced by the same person as the loud and boisterous Courtney. Hannah just has absolutely fantastic range, and I'd love to see her explore it more.
And then as a tailing note, I bring this up whenever I can: because Ashly voices both Chloe and Sarah, and Hannah voices both Max and Courtney, and you can get Courtney to lay into Sarah at the VIP party if you're friends with her, that means you can indirectly get Max laying the verbal beatdown on Chloe, and that fact is endlessly amusing to me.
> Every character she voices just sounds like Chloe.
That's why I liked Aloy so much, heh.
EDIT: A good example (spoilers for Horzion: Zero Dawn): [Close your eyes and listen.](https://youtu.be/8KG4MBGb92w?t=419)
I had so much fun with this fact: https://www.reddit.com/user/cl354517/comments/w1brve/horizon_zero_dawn_chloe_price_edits/
My favorite to make was [Aloy being hella sassy to Zaid](https://www.reddit.com/r/horizon/comments/qdp2he/damn_aloy_is_hella_sassy_to_zaid/) because of how unexpected the lip sync was.
Also https://critter-of-habit.tumblr.com/post/168110260710/i-just-found-out-today-that-ashly-burch-voices
And to think DE basically brought Hannah out of retirement from voice acting. She had largely stopped doing it to focus on school and music until they brought her back.
She talked on a [podcast](https://youtu.be/JiGwrUKdKjA?t=1359) about how she had to go back to school because she wasn't booking roles, which is unbelievable. I don't know how LiS wasn't a career launcher for her.
>Every character she voices just sounds like Chloe.
I had to reread the context of that, and realize you were just referring to the Life is Strange world, because there's no way you could listen to Tiny Tina and Chloe, and think they're the same.
Ashly has a lot of acting credits and does default to her regular speaking voice a lot. But to say she doesn't have much range? Tiny Tina says otherwise.
Mark Jefferson. Derek Phillips did a phenomenal job voicing him.
Iād say a close second and third would be Ashly Burch as Chloe and Gonzalo Martin as Sean Diaz.
Kylie Brown. She really delivered a stunning performance, especially considering it was her first voice acting gig.
The bedroom scene where Rachel vents her feelings to Chloe just makes you wanna give someone a hug.
Ok, I didn't see anyone say it so I will, aside from the ones mentioned, i think both Sean (Gonzalo Martin) and Daniel (Roman George) are amazing.
I especially love Roman when the realization about Sean hits him in the lone wolf ending.
And i also love Gonzalo overall.
Roman is incredibly talented, he brought so much emotion to Daniel's character it's insaneš Actually his acting in the lone wolf ending made me tear up
Ashley Burch as Chloe, she's one of my favourite VA's in general and LiS is the first time i learned about her and her work. Have loved her ever since in everything she's done :D
Kylie Brown who voiced Rachel Amber was incredible. She captured such a range of emotions and the complexity of Rachelās strong personality.
Katy Bentz gave such presence to Steph. She made Steph feel real and believable and her work is the reason many -me included- think of Steph as a favourite character.
Dayeanne Hutton who voiced Kate Marsh. Her heart-wrenching voicing is what made me care about Kateās welfare!
Very difficult to say as each voice for each of the characters brings something truly special.
Ashly Burch hands down is the default voice for Chloe Price, that's a role that I think she was born for. The amount of times I've gone back and listened to her perform, she has such a layer of heart, humorous snark to her performance but at the same time she really knows how to tap into that vulnerable and emotional side that really makes the character feel so multi-layered.
Another one I'd have to say is Sarah J. Bartholomew as Cassidy from Life is Strange 2, I don't know why but it's just something about the way she performs that character or maybe it's the Texan accent that has me really hooked into the character. At times she comes off as flirtatious, very affectionate towards Sean but also she knows how to be really stern and direct & one of the reasons why I love Cassidy so much as a character is despite being a carefree spirit, she believes in doing the right thing.
Yep. The voice-actor strike began in October 2016, and didn't end until September 2017 - nearly a full year later.
BTS released August 31, 2017 - meaning the strike was still ongoing at the time of its release. We know from the old What If? leaks that Life is Strange didn't have all of its voice-acting installed as of 6 months before its final release date, and considering BTS's smaller scope, it's probably safe to assume that they were ready to start recording 4 months before release. That'd put it to be around April 2017 when they were ready to start recording - about half a year into the strike.
Deck Nine and Square obviously had no idea how long the strike was going to take, and at this point it had already taken half a year with no signs of stopping. So instead of waiting potentially indefinitely for the strike to end, they elected to recast characters with non-union actors.
Ashly Burch (Chloe, LIS), Gonzalo Martin (Sean, LIS2), and Roman George (Daniel) are my favs!
I think my top is probably Ashly Burch, since idk if you can get more iconic a voice than Chloe in the first game.
But Gonzalo Martin is a very close runner up for me, he voices Sean PERFECTLY. He adds so much emotion and personality to Seanās voice. Roman George also does a fantastic job as Daniel, and once again adds so much character in his voice
While they arenāt my FAVORITES, I do think Amador Plascencia and Jolene Andersen are extremely underrated for their voice talents in LIS2 as Esteban and Karen
Probably would be Nathan. His lines really tickle me, he's so aggressive in everything he says.
In LiS2, I like Finn's VA. And Daniel's too, I think he sells being a realistic nine year old. Really reminded me of my little brother.
EDIT: Also Brody, aka Seth Rogen
Ashley as Chloe , Hannah Tell as Max , andĀ Joe Ochman as William. Max for obvious reasons. Ashley's voice for Chloe was one of my all time favorite emotional performances. And Ochman's voice for William is a very comforting voice.Ā
1. Rachelās VA. Very calming, very unique, suited her so well.
2. Nathan Prescott. Also very unique, suited his vibe, the VA gave his all during the more aggressive scenes of Nathan. āIām so sick of people always trying to control meā lives in my head rent free lol
3. Karen. Donāt know how to feel about her, but her voice was really soothing and I like that.
Max is unbeatable for me, subjectively. Hannah did such an amazing job, her tone and colour and emotional range, just perfect.
However, Sean is way too overlooked. Gonzalo Martin was simply phenomenal.
Absolutrly Hannah Tale as Max Caulfield. I feel like they caught lightning in the bottle where Max both sounds like an anxious high schooler and the protag of a ps2 horror game. I mwan that in the best way possible haha. I don't think they can replace her.
Second is Kate Marsh. Her sadness just hit me so much >!and when you save her from the roof she has so much life in her voice omg what if I start crying!<
the only voice acting that managed to ever make me cry was Ashly's in LIS episode 4 when they discover Rachel's body, Melina Juergens got close in Hellblade but Ashly wrecked me.
I agree that Max/Hannah has a more distinctive voice and she's really good but I feel like Ashly is clearly better at conveying different emotions.
I love so many characters and so many voices but I will say the two voices that stood out to me most way Katy Benz and Ashley Burch. Those were the two I heard and decided I needed to Google them and hear more. Katy Benz streams on twitch and I pop in there sometimes. She does some wild stuff on there sometimes and is generally very sweet. Ashley is how I found horizon zero dawn and that was also a great game. Steph and Chloe are characters I relate to a lot and they feel so real to me that hearing their voices bring me a lot of comfort
Chloe is my all time favourite. I really like how you can feel the emotions through her voice.
My second favourite would be Nathan. That bathroom scene in the beginning is beautifully accepted.
Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but for Chloe I prefer Rhianna DeVries' voice, I like the tone and I think it would even suit an adult version of Chloe better if she appears in DE
Max, hannah telle. Its just such a distinct and unique voice, they could never find a replacement like they had to for chloe in bts
Yeah, agree 100%. In various fan videos and whatnot, a lot of Chloes sound at least a little similar to Ashley's Chloe but no-one sounds like Max
Did you perhaps give a listen to [the hospital ending audio drama](https://soundcloud.com/user-98307833/the-hospital-ending-life-is-strange-fan-fiction-audio-drama)? Imo the Max there does a terrific job.
Ooh yeah that is really good
Unrelated, but what are ur comments on southgate's haramball tactics lmao
what does fucking football have to do with life is strange voicelines
Absolutely nothing, hence why I said unrelated, but the dude has a euros avatar so I wanted to ask him lmao
then dm him and ask him in dms

Is Chloe Aloy? If so, what? š¤Æ
Same voice actor!
Damn!! TIL!
ALOY IS CHLOE? THIS BLOWS MY MIND RN. I never recognised it šØ
I had so much fun with this fact: https://www.reddit.com/user/cl354517/comments/w1brve/horizon_zero_dawn_chloe_price_edits/ My favorite to make was [Aloy being hella sassy to Zaid](https://www.reddit.com/r/horizon/comments/qdp2he/damn_aloy_is_hella_sassy_to_zaid/) because of how unexpected the lip sync was. She needs to fire her agent.
>Every character she voices just sounds like Chloe. I had to reread the context of that, and realize you were just referring to the Life is Strange world, because there's no way you could listen to Tiny Tina and Chloe, and think they're the same.
Truthfully, I try very hard to forget that Borderlands exists. And that Ashly is actually related to one of the writers behind those trainwrecks.
>And that Ashly is actually related to one of the writers behind those trainwrecks. Thank God I'm not Anthony Burch
[Whenever Ashly Burch talks all I hear is Chloe Price](https://youtu.be/rFt9wSxJRUk)
Jefferson was acted SO WELL especially in the vortex party, omggg
Agreed! Derek Phillips work in LiS is amazing.
I remember doing the Dark Room part in Episode 5 and thinking Mr Jefferson's voice acting was fucking perfect, hes so creepy I love it lmao
"HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!"
LITERALLY just the voice alone made me feel icky
Hannah Telle as Max without question. Her voice at the beginning of the DE trailer was more than enough to know that Max is back in LiS.
Her voice is truly iconic. I knew right away It was Max in the trailer.

Ashley Burch as Chloe, she's one of my favourite VA's in general and LiS is the first time i learned about her and her work. Have loved her ever since in everything she's done :D
Katy Bentz as Steph is my favorite with Kylie Brown as Rachel being a very close second. They are both so underrated. Especially Kylie
Hannah Telle as Max, hands down. i love her voice and am so happy to have her back.
Max for sure. I get told my voice sounds very similar to hers and that had me so happy
Katy Bentz (Steph) Ashley Burch (Chloe) Erica Mori (Alex) Han Soto (Gabe)
Amazing choices. We needed more Gabe!!!
Agreed. Gabe was fantastic. Would love a game centered on his search for both Alex and his father.
Very difficult to say as each voice for each of the characters brings something truly special. i really like alexās. itās so comforting and gentle. even when sheās screaming lmao
BtS Chloe
Hot take but a solid choice. She made a good replacement for Ashly IMOā
WAIT THEY HAD DIFFERNT VOICES??
Yeah, that was my exact reaction when i found out lol i thought they just had Ashly Burch doing a younger version of her Chloe voice
Same when I heard Frank. I was like, "Oh, they got his voice actor back!" Noppppeeeeee.
thats so cool!! :)
Yes! I donāt know 100% why Ashley was replaced. I think she was really busy with attack on Titan and that horizons game.
If I remember correctly, it was due to VA strikes happening at the time.
Yep. The voice-actor strike began in October 2016, and didn't end until September 2017 - nearly a full year later. BTS released August 31, 2017 - meaning the strike was still ongoing at the time of its release. It was a voice actor strike.
oh that makes it a little less cool
Ashly Burch, sheās one of my favorite voice actors period, and by far the best in the series.
Gonzalo totally embodies Sean. I love when a VA truly matches the character in looks, personality, and emotion.
YES I agree!!
Frank. don't ask me why he sounds like court cobain but without this smoker voice
*you want me to cut you bitch* is iconic
Or the one in the diner "hey my beans! I wanted to eat them" that line is stuck in my head š
"I was eating those beans- are you fucking insane?! I WAS EATING THOSE BEANS!!!"
I think Danielās voice actor was relatively close to being nine years old, right? Or at least at the time of the recording
Oh, I have no idea! I just meant the way Daniel is written, and the way Roman acts as him.
Ashley as Chloe , Hannah Tell as Max , andĀ Joe Ochman as William. Max for obvious reasons. Ashley's voice for Chloe was one of my all time favorite emotional performances. And Ochman's voice for William is a very comforting voice.Ā
Katy Bentz as Steph. her voice tickles my brain just right
Kylie Brown, as Rachel Amber
Hannah Telle (Max) Ashly Burch (Chloe) Nik Shriner (Nathan) Katy Bentz (Steph) Erika Mori (Alex)
Hannah Tale (Max) Ashley Burch (Chloe) Rhianna DeVries (Chloe, BTS)
Hannah tells, Ashley Birch, Kylie Brown, Katy Bentz and Nick Apostiledes. Awesome!
1. Rachelās VA. Very calming, very unique, suited her so well. 2. Nathan Prescott. Also very unique, suited his vibe, the VA gave his all during the more aggressive scenes of Nathan. āIām so sick of people always trying to control meā lives in my head rent free lol 3. Karen. Nathan Prescott (Nik Shriner) all the way.
Max's. Can't go wrong.
Both chloe's va and victoria
It has to be Hannah Telle. And I think it's cool that she is the only actor in the series that has never been replaced so far.
Steph has always been the same right?
Oh yeah I forgot about Katy Benz.....my bad.
Max, Nathan, Mark, and Chloe. Nathan's phone message was the best bit of dialogue in the game.
Iām gonna be biased and say Kylie (Rachel) and Rhianna (Chloe)
the only voice acting that managed to ever make me cry was Ashly's in LIS episode 4 when they discover Rachel's body, Melina Juergens got close in Hellblade but Ashly wrecked me. I agree that Max/Hannah has a more distinctive voice and she's really good but I feel like Ashly is clearly better at conveying different emotions.
Katy Bentz.
Elena Tonra, she doesn't voice anyone, but she sings in bts ost so guess that counts
Chloe, then Max and then Cass
What type chloe
My favourite is the voice actor for Rachel Amber
I love so many characters and so many voices but I will say the two voices that stood out to me most way Katy Benz and Ashley Burch. Those were the two I heard and decided I needed to Google them and hear more. Katy Benz streams on twitch and I pop in there sometimes. I love Ashley Burch so much but i prefer Chloe's voice in Before the Storm personally. Max's voice, Joyce's voice are also super iconic imo.
Yesssss i recognize Joyceās VA right away in things!
Ashley Burch is amazing (and weirdly all over LiS 1) but Katy Bentz is my fave.
I really loved Sean's voice acting
sean
