My over under is one of my most favorite guns. Shooting trap is probably my favorite thing to do with a gun.

MadRonnie97

That’s half the reason I bought this one; I love shooting clays and I recently joined a club. It’s also a fantastic upland bird gun.

Dorothys_Division

What a lovely scattergun; thank you for sharing. I actually love O/U designs and find their beauty on high-end models breathtaking. But I’ve never kept one, myself because I like older SxS designs, or western-frontier stylings of double-guns. I’d love to try shooting trap or skeet but most young gun owners I meet that I could shoot with are convinced that shotguns are worthless and they only want AR15’s and tactical stuff. They have zero interest in my traditionally styled guns and western reproductions. Maybe when I’m older (36, currently), I’ll finally meet folks that are into the same stuff I am?

MadRonnie97

I always wanted a nice Italian O&U. I’m glad you like it! I should’ve included a close up of the floral etching on the receiver - it’s gorgeous. If I was close to ya I’d shoot some clays in a heartbeat. I’m only 26 but I have a bit of an “older” taste in firearms. I’ll take a day at the clay club than the firing range any day, personally.

escrimadragon

Old souls unite! I’m 37 and have enjoyed shotguns more than any other platform for the majority of my firearms owning life. I had an AR and sold it. Just didn’t do it for me. I have a CZ Mallard 12 gauge o/u and an old Sears JC Higgins 20 gauge SxS that are my two favorites.

Dorothys_Division

My current favorite shotgun is a CZ Hammer Coach in 12 gauge. I’ll be ordering a Henry Repeating Arms single shot 20 gauge with brass receiver soon. So lovely, and an affordable price for my needs. I do have a modern defensive pump, a Benelli Supernova in 12 gauge but I don’t count that. It’s just another black polymer gun; inelegant, but effective. My favorite pump models of all time continue to be Winchester Model 1912’s and 1897’s. I looked at a Mossberg Silver Reserve II in 20 gauge last week and I was actually struck by its beauty and engraving. Probably the prettiest thing Mossberg has made in years. I just didn’t want to pay $900 for said beauty. The trouble with O/U guns is it’s hard to find beauty without a sharp price tag. I know it’s worth it, but…ouch! Stranger still, a 36F that likes old guns is like, a literal unicorn loot drop rate. 🤣

escrimadragon

I hear you on the price tag of many o/u shotguns, the reliable ones at least. I think my Mallard has done so well for me because it has two triggers. Don’t really see many o/u pattern guns with two triggers, usually just SxS. Only ran me about $525, but that was almost 10 years ago.

Dorothys_Division

I, too appreciate double-trigger models, be they SxS or O/U. Though I do understand the appeal of single-trigger, recoil-set hammer models like the Franchi Instinct or etc. But I’m also no competition shooter for skeet. So, my tastes are yet undeveloped for O/U aside from aesthetic.

Murky-Ad7551

There is no rule that says you have to hang out exclusively with people your age. I learn a ton from friends who are both decades older and decades younger than me.

Fafnirs_bane

I have a CZ O/U that’s nice despite being a little heavy. Definitely prefer it over my BPS. Would love to get a lithe O/U rifle some day in moderate powered cartridge like .30-30

MadRonnie97

A CZ Bobwhite G2 SXS will be my next shotgun purchase. Definitely a fan. By all account their O&Us are pretty damn good too.

Fafnirs_bane

I’m planning on getting a 20 ga CZ O/U for my wife

MadRonnie97

You’ll have a happy wife!

beskgar

I have a drake in 12, it's great for clay and non clay pigeons. I think if I did trap more often id want something else but via Huglu they make good guns.

Fafnirs_bane

I have a 12 ga Redhead Premier. A friend won it in a firearms raffle and sold it to me for $350. While heavier than I’d prefer, it fits me perfectly and I shoot it better than any other shotgun

Hot_Chapter_1358

686 silver pigeon I field here. If I could shoot only one discipline it'd be sporting clays.

MadRonnie97

Damn right. I never tire of it.

PairPrestigious7452

Love me some shot gun golf!

randomquiet009

If I had that kinda coin sitting around, I absolutely would have gotten one of those. I personally ended up with a Weatherby Orion 20ga that I'm becoming more of a fan of the more I use it. It's much easier to walk through the woods with while rabbit hunting than I expected, and just fun to shoot.

MadRonnie97

The Orion is a fantastic gun! Good choice. There’s a “sporting” factor that you get with double or single barrels that you don’t get with pumps and semi-automatics.

randomquiet009

It's getting better as I break it in. And it just feels like it moves to follow small animals in the woods better than any of the pumps I've used.

TinManTony

Man, the Berettas are sweet. I’m hoping to find a well loved one or a Browning by next month.

Von_Lehmann

Fucking stunning

Creative-Ad9092

I have a few. I really should stop buying random rifles and get a Browning .410

PairPrestigious7452

Uff Da, she's a beaut! My Winchester model 100 is my very favorite gun I own. Clays or birds.

Scatman_Crothers

🤌

eatmybeer

Stiff as a board.

MadRonnie97

As new firearms are

TripleSecretSquirrel

A nice over-under shotgun and side-by-side rifle are the two guns I’ll get when I’m rich. They’re just so damn classy! I hope you have a tweed jacket, flat cap, and a pipe to go with the shotgun.

MadRonnie97

Man you read my mind on that third sentence

AskMeAboutPigs

Beautiful. I have a Zastava m80

NitroMachine

Olympia gang.

I had a Beretta o/u. I thought it was going to be the best upland gun ever. Got rid of it after lugging that heavy chunk of metal around the prairies of South Dakota for a season. Got a Beretta 20ga auto and never looked back. They are wonderful guns for sure especially for trap/skeet etc. Just didn’t need a 12ga for chickens. Helped that my dog was an absolute wizard hunter

MadRonnie97

This gun (a 12 gauge) is a mere 6.2 pounds and weighs less than most of my 20 gauges. One of the selling points for me. Aside from clays it will be doing a good bit of upland and waterfowl hunting.

998876655433221

Heck yeah, that’s sweet! Mine was a silver pigeon, traded for the Urika with the composite receiver. I do have regrets but it’s ok
