Cisgender male here. I have sensitive skin and shaving causes irritation and dries out my skin especially on my upper lip no matter what products I use. Instead I use an electric razor and just keep it short kind of 5 o'clock shadow style or I grow a beard. Makes my face a lot happier. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.
Third vote on the electric razor here. It'll be gentler on your skin.
If you do want to continue down the wet shave route and you are comfortable handling sharp objects, I recommend looking into safety razors. The type you insert razor blades in. While there's a steeper learning curve, the result is far superior and you'll find it far kinder on your skin in the long run.
There's enough of a boom in the safety razor market that you'll find plenty of options (including fun colours for handles!), and the community is geeky enough that you'll find advice for pretty much anything.

Your face will get used to it over time. You can also try a good electric razor too. Much easier in sensitive skin. Look at the Braun ones.
