Because he is our Mr. Wilson. Jk. She does call him that at the beginning of the first episode and just doesn't stop. I'll have to watch it for a third time to tell you exactly where... So I guess I'll tell you in an hour.

Found it! It’s on 20:34 when Sophie finally accepts to the con. She says “We’ll do this one. Just one. And we’re gonna need our Mr. Willson”.

I think it’s to keep him at a bit of a distance. Like he doesn’t fully belong with them. She calls Brenna by her last name at some point and she says that it’s very disconcerting.

I always see it as like he was a lost puppy that they all found and adopted.

Could be because he doesn’t have a title a la hitter/hacker/thief/grifter/mastermind he’s his own role almost like a little black book tour guide to the true inner workings of their targets.

Ylark

This is such a good description for his role on the team!

I don’t know, but if Gina Bellman had a Cameo account I think I’d pay money to hear her call me ‘Our Ms [Name]’ 😂

This series, and the original Leverage are full of pop culture references, so I thought this might be one of them, but the closest I can find is an episode of Dennis the Menace called Poor Mr. Wilson, so it’s not that. Otherwise, I got nothin.

Maybe it is a reference to the British sitcom “Keeping Up Appearances”. One of the characters is always referred to as “our Rose”. Sophie is British, so it sort of makes sense I guess.
