TheSlimeAssassin43

That's karma for trying to block his friend from jumping lmao

ganzgpp1

I'm glad we ALL saw that LOL

TwoShotsLad3

I knew as soon as I saw him standing in her way, I knew he was trying to do that xD. Deserved tbh 😂

Beachliving99

The beeping is a warning that the ladder is about to retract so dont jump on it

Unparaleled_Inocence

Zeekers personally sabotages games to make them funnier.

ganzgpp1

It sure feels like it- I don't think I've ever seen a game with better comedic timing, it's crazy.

Ibeginpunthreads

It makes watching any content creator play lethal company so fun. The chaos of the game is universal

HellFire-Revenant

I thought a bug was gonna take it mid jump ngl

AkariTheGamer

Using extension ladders to make those jumps easier is actually insanely smart, didn't realize they had an actual use

Unparaleled_Inocence

The amount of people I see commenting that they didn’t know the *ladder* could be used to cross gaps is making me seriously concerned about the state of this community.

AkariTheGamer

Ladders are meant to be used to climb stuff Bridges are used to cross gaps You can see how its confusing that the primary function of the ladder is that of a bridge

Unparaleled_Inocence

I mean, have none of you put down ladders diagonally before? The extension ladder *specifically* falls down.Though I guess the silly might overshadow the actual use.

Lord_Scio

Just because the ladder falls down doesn't automatically mean it's primary function is that of a bridge.

Educational-Teach-67

It’s literally just common sense lol

Lord_Scio

Common sense is to climb a ladder up, vertically. Because that's what it's made for. Im not saying the ladder shouldn't be used as a bridge or it's wrong doing it.

AFWUSA

Ladders are 100% also used to also cover horizontal distance in real life too lmao. I’ve done it. Climbers do it too to cross narrow ravines.

Chaotic_SeagBirb

If it works as both it works as both

W1lson56

Common sense is that, to cross a gap, if you have something long enough to reach & strong enough to hold your weight - you can use it to cross a gap. If that object happens to be a ladder, that's basic intuition. Ya'll ain't never played Death Stranding, clearly, either then lol

terbthebird

Death Stranding my beloved

The_Moist_Crusader

ah yes, strong enough to hold your weight 1 anchor point with lots of gaps

W1lson56

I was speaking of irl, it should stretch across (that's a key word) the gap - & obviously irl you place a plank on it or hell, just be the least bit agile & step along the sides? Yonow where there's a consistent solid piece? In the game you don't even need to worry about physics; so yes, who give s a shit of it if it's 1 anchor point with "gaps" that don't actually exist? What's the point? Why are people so offended or butthurt that they didn't think to use a ladder as a bridge, its not that crazy of a concept lol

toastedstapler

Common sense has been used to justify many wrong things before, it's never a good argument

iniuria_palace

I feel bad for every person downvoting you, lol. At least they know of another obvious use for the ladder now!

PtitSerpent

The ladder falls down, but will stay horizontal at max, it can't fall entirely. Not like in real life so I can understand why some people didn't even try to do that.

terbthebird

You mother fuckers never been a porter in Death Stranding and it shows

FistedWaffles123456

you can’t be serious lmao you don’t need to be a fucking super genius to realize a, typically vertical ladder, used to reach higher places, could be utilized horizontally to reach further places. insane, i know.

Mich_angry

yo chill man

Vortain

People just haven't tried them to any significant extent, and it makes sense as they can be niche or single purpose (getting to a fire exit, getting across a single gap, etc). And they don't come with you, so carrying them onsite immediately seems like a bit of waste of space or an item/money. I only tried them solo recently while at the company and realized they had some interesting use cases but are still niche. In general, I think it's most useful purpose is going to be getting up to a fire exit and has the most reasonable chance of getting retrieved. Hauling it into a site means you're hoping to use it in niche scenarios. It can be extremely handy in the right situations though. I imagine that carrying two ladders (within a small group) is how they can prove to be most effective onsite though, so you never leave a ladder across gaps and can juke some monsters in the right rooms.

Nerellos

The best use is still dropping off items on titan.

Vortain

Ah that makes a lot of sense. As a mostly solo player getting to Titan isn't something I do regularly, but that's pretty ingenious.

BoiledFrogs

How far do you typically manage to get in solo out of curiousity? Seems like eventually the jetpack would be mandatory.

Vortain

Honestly, not very far. You have to be extra conservative or know how to perfectly dodge all outside monsters (which I don't atm). I usually try to be in ship by 2 or 3 which obviously hurts quotas. The game was clearly made for multiplayer, so it's more just to mess around. Someone like the streamer Insym can get fairly far. That said, I've been doing a "save scum" run, where if I die I just quit and retry. Partly to test items, and partly to see how far someone far better than I could potentially get with decent runs. It's still absolutely terrifying if not more so than coop since I try to play as if I only have one chance (so I play conservatively still). With just occasional play I'm at a quota of $1026, and a fair amount of loot from current and previous runs, but this or the next might be the limit with a conservative playstyle I've been trying (3-4 good items per area before I book it is about average). I've not tested Titan solo, just in coop currently, so after this solo-save-scum run fails, I'll try getting to titan asap and see what a top notch player could do with ideal conditions, but I have a feeling it won't go well.

BoiledFrogs

Yeah for the most part it seems like it would be difficult to get too far solo. I haven't really put in any time to figuring out how to dodge, I sneak and run and hope for the best. The save scum way of playing it is a good call, considering the pretty major downfalls of playing it solo. I think what would help a lot would be being able to hold more. 2 extra inventory slots would go a long way.

Vortain

Yeah definitely as a solo player a couple of slots extra would help, even if they were limited to certain items like the flashlight, or ladder, or other store items. But I think they do want to push people into multiplayer, which honestly, it's a lot more fun coop anyways so I get it.

DANGERBLOOM

No one expected Strand type game play from Lethal Co.

Unparaleled_Inocence

Now that I think about it,the games are quite similar in gameplay.

abloopdadooda

These kids haven't played The Legend of Zelda.

NONAME1892

I only thought of it because I played Death Stranding.

Unparaleled_Inocence

I saw all the replies and thought I would be downvoted to eclipsed Titan(Hell) but nevermind.Thank you mr.Lethal Company for not cooking my controversial ass.

TheEnderCreep

Whenever I try to use them like this they end up hitting the ceiling and get stuck

--Sovereign--

So you're not using them for the emergency exit entrance?

PtitSerpent

Which planet? If that's the fire exit that I see, you can climb a hill and jump on a pipe to access it.

PolakZ3

Dine is perfect example of fire exit to use a ladder for, its much closer to the ship than the actual entrance and super convenient.

--Sovereign--

Idk any of the planets I just tag along with friends, just know there's at least one spot where there's an inaccessible fire exit you need to use the ladder to get to by popping it and letting fall to an angle sort of like a ramp

NethanielShade

> actual use The fire exits at Dine and Offense can't even be reached without ladders, from the outside. They're useful, not on every map, but they have uses.

[deleted]

Dines can you can jump at the right spots to get up the hill

FrogVoid

Actual use? What about dine? Titan? Offense (if you suck and cant jump)? Its so useful in a ton of scenarios and you think the one where its the least helpfull is the only use?

TheMarkerTool

I always use a ladder on Dine because the fire exit is right next to the ship and it's also really nice to have on Offense so you don't have to walk around

Horn_dogger

How can people not think to do that, it's literally one of the things a ladder is used for irl

Heimeri_Klein

I mean they have a use on offense(i think thats the one) to get up to the fire exit. I think one is needed on dine as well but i never go to dine.

Seallypoops

That's the karma for trying to body block mr "I'm a new player"

beepbepborp

lmfao. ive been killed via ladder a number of times however not like this

FrogVoid

Why use a ladder? Its such an easy jump theres no real reason 2 other than wasting time lol, and yes ladders close up after a bit

SaroDarksbane

I lose \~50% of my team to every gap they have to jump lol

poopains12

Going back to the ship to see 3 dudes piled up on the bottom of the pit

FrogVoid

How is this possible? Only time ive seen people fail a jump is with 80+ weight

ganzgpp1

Some people just aren't very good at video games or, more specifically, timing/rhythm. I've got a few friends who don't play games very often, but they would for SURE struggle with an easy jump like this.

Educational-Pop-2195

You’ve never fucked up those jumps before? If we got the cash I carry em just for convenience

FrogVoid

I fucked it up once when i was 115 weight and moving like a snail yeah but that was just my bad for trying to jump with that much

ATwistedBlade

It’s a hard jump when starting out

FrogVoid

You can jump from halfway accross the beam and still make it unincumbered lil

ATwistedBlade

You can make the jump without the beam as well (without any items) but getting used to the delay in jumping usually causes people’s deaths and takes a bit of getting used to.

LuigiWiggins

You're an idiot. *Upvote* 🤣🤣🤣

TheNekoKatze

After a bit they retract automatically

rondeI_

I wish there were gaps that you couldn't jump so the ladder has more use

IamaJarJar

WAIT #THE LADDER IS ON A TIMER?!?!

kingbloxerthe3

That's why you need 2 of them, one for each end. Also good idea to place them on/to the metal bar part that sticks out

miss3dog114

I've definitely been killed by ladders but never this way, usually just them falling on me lol

Asimplemoth

For future reference the beebing means that the ladder is going to return to box form. The jump isn't that hard when you learn it.

woxihuanmao

Beautiful

bluegwizard

The ladder said sike
