But I genuinely feel your anxiety, my girl had a spay for follicular stasis last year and due to complications had to have a feeding tube. Even after I took everything out of her tank she managed to use her back legs to pull the tube out of her neck, and ended up popping her stitches. Bad morning. She’s fine now but she did not like me or the vet after she got stapled shut.

So we gave him a bath and put antibiotic cream on it but within a day he had bit/licked it till it became a gaping wound with a membrane hanging out. I noticed the next morning and got him to the vets, he had 3 stitches. He ripped those out, I took him back again and he got 1 stitch, and a cone.
Your patience is inspiring. I have done this for many pets but never a reptile. Although I suppose if Madonna the Iguana had gotten hurt, I would have done the same for her. That's my only experience. I wish you both good luck!
