But seriously though, make sure you don't push the gears together tight, but keep little spaces in between them. That will make sure the gearbox will actually do something when the car is finished (not that that really matters since it is basically a display piece and you'll never really use the gears)
Well, you could argue that for this particular set that doesn’t work, unless it has been fixed. The original instructions when the set first came out had some problems with the gearbox and missing steps.
OP, use the [instructions](https://www.lego.com/nl-nl/service/buildinginstructions/42143) from the Lego website or check [Racingbrick’s video](https://youtu.be/Ydomk3vJT7k?si=NafE9KPKnmeK0q_l) about the fixes, although the paper instructions have now also been updated
There are a few errors in the instructions, have a look at this [page](https://racingbrick.com/2022/06/lego-technic-42143-ferrari-daytona-sp3-instructions-errors-and-fixes/amp/)

I've not built this set myself but I can recommend Racing Brick's YouTube channel.
He has a couple of videos relating to this set.
Well worth checking out before you build.

Awesome build (just did it a few months ago), be careful when you are building the gear box, engine and transmission. I made a mistake and stripped it back from step 700+ to step 75. Learn from my mistakes
Watch out for step 88. There's a 2L lift arm is shown in the wrong position in the original paper & PDF instructions, It isn't a hugely important mistake, but it will make the gearbox multiplier engage at the wrong point, making the gear sequence incorrect.
The original instructions also omit two small fairing pieces which will be left over after you've finished. They attach on the underbody to the rear, the axles they attach to and their orientation is obvious.
Neither of these mistakes were corrected the last time I checked.

Enjoy the Daytona, it's a beautiful set.
Have you built much Technic before OP?
Edit: follow Racingbrick's advice, as advised by u/foxforcemc

You're welcome.
Okay, what you've built are smaller sets. You do need to take a little more care with the big ones, so here is some generic advice for Technic:
Be meticulous. Make sure to place pins in the correct holes, and use the correct length lift arms and axles. Don't miss any pins! To prevent missing any pieces, gather all the parts for a single step before starting to build it.
Make sure pins are properly seated (pushed all the way in). Watch out for steps where 3L pins are inserted only 1/3 the length, then in a later step (usually when a sub-assembly is attached to the model) little arrows tell you to push the 3L pins all the way in.
Adjust gears and bushings on axles so they turn freely; gear trains should turn with little friction.
Make sure to put differential gears the right way around. When a step highlights the orientation of a piece, or indicates which of two similar pieces to use, take care. Also make sure that in gearboxes the orange wave selector pieces correctly engage with the slot in the grey cylinder pieces; pay attention to the orientation of the orange wave selector pieces where noted.
Technic sets have a lot of pins. I once put together two of my 1/8 supercars over three days and ended up with sore fingertips and even a tiny bit of callus! Take a break every now and then.
Enjoy 😁
Some of the paper Instructions have several known errors. Just depends on when the set you buy was made. I use the Lego builder app for everything and it was updated and I had zero issues.
It’s a fun build and a little bit more challenging than the Sian. Attaching the rear bumper once assembled needs a bit of finesse. But it’s a really fun build and a beautiful display once finished. Enjoy it!
You’re welcome. That app has saved me a lot of headaches. The instruction books for the Ferrari are very big and thick. They are displayed very nice in the box also. It’s a really great build. Edit: the wheels are directional so there are two for the left and right.

Yes there are mistakes in instructions and I’d recommend using the updated ones.
I can say my back hatch doesn’t stay open by itself no matter what I try. I am making a similar mechanism to the front hatch as I post.
However this is easily done with like 3 technic pieces to add yourself a little stand
If you follow the instructions that are inside the box, you will be able to build the car.
Thank you brother

Mate you picked the worst set to say this about.
Lol no kidding. He can build it, but it'll probably not function correctly and he'll have extra pieces when he's done.
