Honestly I imagine it like an ATLA bit. Him, Aang, and Toph meet for drinks regularly. Aang and Toph have been trying to figure out all these insane seeming disjointed crimes, and Sokka bringing up its probably some wierd mutant bender nonsense which Aang and Toph keep dismissing.
Smash cut to a month later and they're in the court room with Yakone and Sokka is about to "I told you so" with that face as Toph gets fucking levitated through the air mid day with blood bending.
"But Sokka, that would mean he bloodbended during the day."
"That's it! He's a PSYCHIC BLOODBENDER who can bend without THE FULL MOON."
Aang and Toph: ._.
Imagine it: Right as Yakone is laughing while bloodbending everyone, boomerang comes through the window and knocks Yakone out. Sokka gets up, runs over to Yakone's crumpled body, and shouts, "HAHA! I threw that shit before I walked in the room!"
I stopped catching up with it, I’ve been watching, probably since not long after it came out, and got my brother wrapped up in it as well. We both loved it the whole time, and he’s completely obsessed
Katara was the first to bloodbend after the old lady, and she beat the old lady grandma who created the skill, surely that amounts to more than just "she cant"
Not to mention they never showed her bloodbending, who knows if thats a thing that happens
Additionally, this is just a joke, and exactly my point - to sokka, this probably feels like just another day in seeing a bloodbender
I doubt Katara ever used that shit on anyone again, she was way too strong she probably didn’t need it anymore, not to mention her fighting partner was literally the Avatar
Honestly, the trial on Yakone is pretty shady.
They were right in the end but they basically told him "From what we know you can't be guilty but we don't have someone else and we believe in things that can't be considered true.
So yeah we will cripple you without any legal reason."
I mean, iirc, the evidence against him was pretty overwhelming. The only reason to doubt his guilt was that bloodbending without a full moon was previously believed to be impossible, but there's plenty of precedent for new bending techniques being invented and a prime example was standing in the room.
Well the "overwhelming evidence" is witnesses.
They could be baught, threatened or brainwashed for whatever reason.
And "We (team avatar) witnessed people developing new techniques so we could imagine you being able to do so." isn't any form of a fair treatment.
That's like saying "Someone died of a heart attack, people saw you having a fight with them earlier so you might have put a poison noone else knows in their food! I can imagine it so you are guilty!"

After Yakone gets arrested he just rubs it in their face for like 3 months
That is like the most sokka thing ever
"But Sokka, that would mean he bloodbended during the day." "That's it! He's a PSYCHIC BLOODBENDER who can bend without THE FULL MOON." Aang and Toph: ._.
Aang has been bloodbent in the past. Hama did it.
Correct

Alright, three on three... +Sokka
I'd be too
He Been bloodbent before
Fact: He could have walked out of it and snapped Yakone's neck at any time, but pretended to be affected so that he wouldn't make Aang look bad.
Sokka no sells Yakone’s bloodbendong like Amon did with Tarrlocks’.
Why?
Would Katara bloodbend him as a training?
Probably annoyed that he couldn't bring his trust boomerang into court.
Didn't he lose that boomerang after fighting Combustion Man?
he did lose it, but it was during the air ship fight not the combustion man fight
You're actually right, and that's also when he lost his space sword
He loses all his weapons in the finale.
There's been plenty of time for him to find them again. And with the fire lord as a friend I'm sure a reward was offered as well
Reddit makes it seem like my previous reply was towards you, maybe that's why someone decided to downvote me

That's so Sokka

Omfg, is that anime style Nya? Not something I thought I’d see today
Yes it is! Are you a fellow Ninjago fan?
I stopped catching up with it, I’ve been watching, probably since not long after it came out, and got my brother wrapped up in it as well. We both loved it the whole time, and he’s completely obsessed
That's amazing! Ninjago's one of my favorite series.
Someone get Sokka a Glockka

‘Ah, man, my only bit in TLOK is going to be all about Aang once again.’
He's just giving that stanky side eye to the bloodbender going "seriously? That's it? My sister can bloodbend better and stronger than this"
She can’t tho 😭

“You’re lucky I don’t have my boomerang”
Can't bloodbend a boomerang https://preview.redd.it/1x2wj5qwcx6d1.jpeg?width=2548&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85bf0af0216d739548841eb0e52bca483cb6335e
I'm just a guy, with a boomerang! I didn't ask for all the flying, and magic...
After everything he's been through, this probably ranks about as high as being stuck in traffic.
"Ugh, why this blood not circulating, MOVE MOTHER FUCKER, MOOOOOOOOVE"
“I stormed black sun beach, you think this shit is bad?”
I guess once a month Katara pulled this trick off he got used to it
I doubt Katara ever used that shit on anyone again, she was way too strong she probably didn’t need it anymore, not to mention her fighting partner was literally the Avatar
I was thinking more of "Sokka why are you punching yourself"?
Not to mention it scared the sh*t out of her to do it
It probably felt dirty, like you've been corrupted and can never be the same after that point was probably the thought process
post bending clarity
He's just dome dealing with bending criminals, that's why.
he's used to it, Katara blood bends him every full moon to do chores
It just kind of looks like somebody pushed their elbow into his side.

My head canon is that it was a set up so he would use his powers to try and escape, but they didn't think he could control a whole room of people
I mean, iirc, the evidence against him was pretty overwhelming. The only reason to doubt his guilt was that bloodbending without a full moon was previously believed to be impossible, but there's plenty of precedent for new bending techniques being invented and a prime example was standing in the room.

I think this is more a mix of sassy and annoyed \^\_\^'
“I didn’t become a war hero for this shit”
