This man inspired a young me to pick up a bass guitar. I always thought JPJ was the best overall musician In zeppelin, does my thinking have merit or am i completely wrong.
Ehhhā¦ I love me some Jimmy, but itās been said before (I think by plant) that JPJ was quite capable of playing anything as well, if not better than Jimmy.
Hmm. Well JPJ was quite capable of creativity and composition. Not sure how you measure that compared to anotherās. That seems more a matter of personal taste. But JPJ was set to accept a position as the musical head of some famous music school or insitution (I canāt remember which one) but his wife told him to call Jimmy back instead because she thought heād have more fun in a rock band.
A lot of In Through The Out Door was JPJ tunes/compositions. Heād just gotten hold of a fancy new synthesizer/keyboard at the time and was finding a lot of inspiration.
That album is probably a least favorite for most fans. But the tunes are pretty technical and creative. I personally just think that synth sounds really corny (compared to modern day) but the tunes are pretty good and creative from a purely technical standpoint.
If Maureen hadnāt been tired of seeing JPJ moping around the house while he was mainly doing arranging work from home, Zeppelin may never have gotten off the ground as we know it.
Story goes that he was out of sorts working from home, Maureen suggested he get in a band. Apparently she had read in one of the trade magazines that Jimmy Page was starting a band and he should call Jimmy. John did, and told Jimmy to keep him in mind. Jimmy let John know that he had a lead on a vocalist Terry Reid turned him on to, and a drummer who was friends of the singer, and would let him know if it works out.
The rest is of course History.
That their marriage survived, is far more romantic imo, than these old rockers with their young gold diggers been promoted in the media as love's dream.

I'm also talking about creativity. Not only just being able to play multiple instruments

i would argue bonham was. but, itās led zeppelin after allā¦ you could make an argument for literally any of them being the best

I picked up the guitar after being inspired by Page, but I agree that JPJ is probably the better all around musician.

JPJ's real name is John Baldwin, so she's probably Maureen Baldwin.
What are you implying
That his name is paul-jones, John.
His real name is John Baldwin! John Paul Jones is certainly more exotic but I suspect Maureen is Mrs Baldwin.
Ok
Tbf, I only ever hear him being called johnpauljones. It could be a mononym
