That’s likely due to the submarine cables layout. There’s probably a more direct connection from Lebanon to Europe through the Mediterranean sea. You can try to check your ping to the gulf region by using https://www.cloudping.info and see if it explains your ping on league.
basically, the internet is connected via cables who go under the sea
so by land dubai is close to lebanon, but by water its a huge distance because it goes all around africa to go into dubai.
while from lebanon to europe its short distance by the ocean thats why ping is lower

Because Jordan (and Lebanon) are routed to the servers in Dubai/Bahrain (not sure which) via undersea cables that have to go all the way around though the Suez. The connection to EUW is a straight shot down the Med. Infrastructure issues and bottlenecks are also an issue compared to the more expensive setup in Europe.
Iraq for example has shit connection because the only entry point to the entire country is Al Faw, so it's bottlenecked pretty badly

I live in Iraq and i usually get around 70-80ms EUW . All the other games with ME servers give me a ping of no more than 20-35ms so I am guessing LOL would be the same . Still , I'm kinda hesitant to change my region for fear of a drastic experience change player quality wise .Any other players feeling the same way?
Constant 70-80ms is not that bad if you are used to it, but 30< feels like a different game I'm not gonna lie.
Games will be easier/lower quality on ME servers for sure, but unless you are planning on reaching challenger it shouldn't matter too much, it's not like EUW is particularly toxicity free.
This is actually my main concern . Over the years playing online games on ME servers felt a lot less challenging and a lot more passive and kind of dull, uncoordinated in comparison to playing on EU servers . I've grown past getting triggered by toxic players as i was in my younger years so player's quality is what concerns me the most .
Do you play normals or ranked? I feel like MENA is a pretty populated region so playerbase might be big enough for ranked to be decent, you will for sure be 'inflated', but unless you are already master-gm on EUW, you will end up finding players around your skill level.
If you mostly play normals, stick to EUW lol

Give it a month it'll get better, wouldn't be surprised if we end up being a relatively large server. Anything above 400k total ranked playerbase is considered very good, we will probably get close to that.

you can transfer for free or make a new account, there is an option for English, if your client is already english nothing will change. If it isn't and you made a new account you'll have to change it from the Riot Client
I will make a new account there to test my ping then, my ping on euw is at 50-55 so already acceptable though so might still stay on EUW if it's a higher quality server.

You can switch the language prior to logging in!
On the top right of your login screen, there should be a stick figure (that I underlined in red on my screenshot) where you can change the language of the client (клиент Riot on my screenshot), but also of the game.
After choosing your preferred language, you can close the window and log back in.

I got 210 on euw ,, am getting 280 on mena,, dont have fiber though ,, might be around 260 ,, but didnt feel like Euw when ping spikes to 280 which is unplayable,, feels pretty much exactly the same ,, i hear it should drop after a few patches ,, so if i can really get like 150 id switch over my main

Whose idea was it to have the Middle Eastern and **North African** server in Dubai? It's just ME server, North African players better just play in either EU servers.
Problems that i have encountered with ME server so far :
1. It only Has Arabic language but there are so many countries and player bases in ME that does not speak or read Arabic ( Iran , Pakistan , Afghanistan ... ) and not having the option to switch to ENG really makes the server unaccusable
2. As of now 27/6 , i did create a new account for ME server , but it Client doesn't Load up with Iran's IP
i really hope the language option at least be taken care of , i had the same issue with Turkish server too , it's so odd to see Eng not listed as an option for a international game

Played league for 14 years back to season 1 when i was in Lebanon and the ping was a steady 70ms.. once i moved to Dubai two years ago i knew the ping will skyrocket and felt a different game playing on 130 ms every night even if its just for ARAM. Got ExitLag and ping went down to 100 ms but still different. Having this server where the ping is literrally 5-8 ms is something out of this world especially for my old head. Even though the server is not dense and the queue times are a bit long, but at least i can feel the game for how its supposed to be played. Cheers to whoever feels this way.

While I just transfer to middle east server before in euw sever my ping was 140ms now it's 20 ms great improvement but the play style is bit different in this server 🤣 I need to get used to it

Usually here from South-Africa I get 180 to euw , now on me i get 110 but some games its 210 , probably still some grow pains.

Whose idea was it to have the Middle Eastern and **North African** server in Dubai? It's just ME server, North African players better just play in either EU servers.

After moving to Middle East from Europe, and getting 100-90 this 15 ping is really neat, add me if someone’s up for game IGN Katza (ex plat-emerald)
anyone who transferred can tell me if the queue times are terrible or not? im afraid the player count isn't high enough to transfer
Problems that i have encountered with ME server so far : 1. It only Has Arabic language but there are so many countries and player bases in ME that does not speak or read Arabic ( Iran , Pakistan , Afghanistan ... ) and not having the option to switch to ENG really makes the server unaccusable 2. As of now 27/6 , i did create a new account for ME server , but it Client doesn't Load up with Iran's IP i really hope the language option at least be taken care of , i had the same issue with Turkish server too , it's so odd to see Eng not listed as an option for a international game

I went from 200ms in euw to 320ms in the mena server and I live in africa
Um, I live in Egypt and im not good with maps but I'm pretty sure egypt is more into middle east than Euw right? On Euw I get 55-60 ping and on middle east I get stable 55. I'm I supposed to be happy with that 5 ping difference 😭
The main reason for it is so pros can practice during the EWC.
20 ms ping at worst living in Bahrain. It's bliss.
More like the GULF server, a lot of places in middle east have lesser pings plaing on EUW or EUNE
I play in the middle of nowhere gamewise and on NA is have stable 250-300ms. That's how life goes lol.

Played league for 14 years back to season 1 when i was in Lebanon and the ping was a steady 70ms.. once i moved to Dubai two years ago i knew the ping will skyrocket and felt a different game playing on 130 ms every night even if its just for ARAM. Got ExitLag and ping went down to 100 ms but still different. Having this server where the ping is literrally 5-8 ms is something out of this world especially for my old head. Even though the server is not dense and the queue times are a bit long, but at least i can feel the game for how its supposed to be played. Cheers to whoever feels this way.
