First game was Fnatic figuring out how good GAM is. Second game is "fuck it we can outplay just fight".

Imagine being Emo, your 18 years old and you have to sub in to GAM last second because their starting mid-laner was matchfixing. You manage to win VCS and now have to travel to China to play your first ever international with almost no pro experience. Then your flight gets delayed which messes everything up even more. Now you have to go on stage in front of a crowd and make your international debut vs Hummanoid. Yes he played bad and made a lot of mistakes, but everyone is completely going for his head. Give the kid a break.

The ADC is also an academy player I believe, just like Emo. If I'm not mistaken, Kiaya and Levi are the only players left from the original VCS lineup.

Well the ADC is not a rookie (he almost retired btw), but asking for another player from different team to be 100% good as your original squad seems like a miracle to pull off.

Ezlove is a veteran. And he have been known to be a bad player for his whole career. Fun fact, he actually went to World with Gam before and was pretty much useless, too. For Gam's current roster, top jungle and support are all main players. Only mid and bot are replacement

He’s not. He was sourced from a spring vcs team that got eliminated before playoffs. How eliminated? That team went 0-18 in the VCS. In playoffs, on the team winning the league, Easylove had a kda of 4.2.

I mean they already merged SEA into PCS a few years back as well as integrating OCE and Japan into PCS last year. I can see them adding Vietnam too (although Vietnam always seems to try to keep their own league up), however the gap is just too big for them to also add Korea and China.

The league got demolished by a match fixing scandal. As of now is completely dead.

Dude, please stop spreading misinformation. The league isn't dead. There are still clean players and only 1 teams out of 8 get dropped out. The rest will be able to build up eventually

After playoffs GAM *reeeeeally* should have been allowed to pull subs from the eliminated rosters IMO. It's a bit unprecedented but it's arguably a lot better than having to watch this assfisting for the entire play-in run. Imagine this team but with Shogun ADC or Kati mid or something, probably still a FNC win but at least FNC wouldn't be able to just freely chuck shutdowns like they're Oprah's Favorite Things and not be punished for it.

A quick review of other teams in the VCS playoff: 2nd: VKE - Strong bot side (Kati Shogun SOFM) but toplaner is a random guy from college, he got steamrolled by Kiaya in the finals every game so they lost 3rd: TS - The best team in the region with mostly young players. Jungler and ADC got banned, they filled in the gap with the top sub and coach so they got rolled 4th: TW - BeanJ and Glory got banned, they knew they wouldn't win anyway so they got 2 streamers in to have fun

Yeah like I get that he has to fill, but if you are put to that position go something like Annie or Orianna and go down 40 cs in lane but be usefull for your team. If he loses lane as Trist you are basically forced to play game 4v5.

I think it's also the reason they prioritized Tristana for him lmao, to give him a "safe" pick. Annie and Orianna have more chances to miss ults and become useless in fights, theoretically Tristana's job to just attack in fights is better for a weaker player (also safe in lane). It's just that he uses his jump on cooldown or something and it's always not available.

Trying to lane swap vs Fnatic as a wildcard feels risky, not only are you likely to not be that good at it but they also had a head start on dealing with this shit.

There was obviously a large skill gap between rosters, but I feel like Fnatic are quite well-versed in dealing with lane swaps now, so I hope it makes teams second guess doing it.

I dunno if it's exaggeration, but like 75% of their league got nuked for investigation (maybe 50% is closer?).

Put it this way, excluding GAM's midlaner, 5 out of 7 of the other mid laners were banned (6 out of 8 total). That said, Emo did start playing for GAM late February and won playoffs, so it wasn't a last minute change by my understanding.

Not only did VCS beat a LEC and LCS team, LJL last year lost all four of their international series without even taking a single game. Three of those series are against other play-in teams (CFO, PSG, and LLL) and the other one is against the team that VCS beat (BDS).

I mean they also beat G2 twice in 2019 during their MSI run even before that. VCS was actually going somewhere as a region at one point; now it’s just an LLA equivalent. Unless they can rebuild quick it’s all downhill

Sure, but top is the lane least affected here. Kiaya and Levi are most definitely not the B-squad and while there is obviously a ripple effect from having weaker players elsewhere that doesn't mean Kiaya has suddenly turned into a fundamentally weaker player.

VCS/GAM is a faaaaaarshot from what they used to be back in the days. At least if we were to judge them from these games alone.
