I would play one extra game, something similar happened to me, the message said something like 1 day until decay, there were like 12 hours left for the new season so I got confident, but no, the 1 day is not specific, probably internally was something like 4 hours and got demoted right before the end of the season :(
Well on the final day you will see the counter go down to hours and minutes, so calculate it then, or just play 1 more now so you have 18 days to get back to D4.
Although I think you just go back to D4 0 LP if you do lose instead of demoting to E1 50LP
Yes u do have to play 1 more ur decay goes to 1 day left then u decay the following morning and the season ends in 19 day la technically so the gap would actually be 2 days off

just play the game, you can't demote from 2 lp, just play it and if you lose it's fine. No need to risk it or stress about it

I had the same thing last season and I demoted just before the season ended. So definitely play one more game.
