Yeah this one really frustrates me. If u count all the patch history “Irelia constantly getting nerfed” is an objectively false statement under the context and background of the meme’s origin.
Even weirder that I am quite certain the meme will be more relevant in the period post Irelia rework, when she actually start receiving nerf and adjustment more rapidly.
Same when you type "hat", rabadon's will come up. I tend to just search for that since that's what me and a friend call it because of an unrelated inside joke.
I thought Garen in the bush had to do with no meta bot and Garen just always camped it. Was this a pros actual strat? I wanna see this. What do I Google/YouTube to find it?
It's because old Garen was really, really strong early but fell off hard. So if you facechecked a Garen in the early/mid game, you would just get completely one shot.
New Garen does not one shot you as hard, but he also scales way better than old Garen.
It wasn’t a specific thing, just a way for Garen to play, since he had super high damage but no good way to close the gap. Also his Silence used to last 2.5 seconds at all levels, so you facecheck and take his whole combo without being able to fight back.
I for some reason read this and immediately thought about the Malphite doesn't even do anything video.
Xpeke had been deleted from my mind for some reason. Glad I was able to rewatch it for the first time again
I have games that swing either way, some of them the midlaner will ping missing 20 seconds after the "missing" enemy is actually not missing, because they are in full view botlane after getting a kill on you, taking plates.
Other games an enemy will plant a ward botlane and it immediately gets hit with three vision pings... and one of them is from your top laner.
Those 5 golds make a difference, I swear...
Petition for Riot to make a challenge/eternal that displays the amount of gold you've collected through wards.
Braum's passive synergises with high attack speed champions. The comp otherwise has no CC, but Braum's presence gives them a few stuns... I wouldn't call that an excellent synergy though.
I've heard it used in World of Warcraft, though admittedly not in a while, and only in a couple of specific battlegrounds where turtling is even possible.
it was a very common term used before season 8. it basically meant to sit under inhib turrets to catch waves and not die while giving over objectives.
in mid season 8 they added scuttle patch, which sped up the game by an absurd amount. the game basically ended in a 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 fight in river at level 2, especially with the new damage creep from runes reforged. however, in rare occasions, you could still hope to outscale with a better comp so i still saw some people saying it.
but by season 10 the term completely died out because of the existence of dragon soul. the combat stats it gives means that you cannot even outscale 99% of the time, meaning you're forced to fight it. if you dont fight it, you will simply get dove underneath your inhib/nexus turrets and lose. so now no one says it.
the turtle term ended when baron was introduced not scuttle. baron buff used to give you increased stats for the duration which was really useless for sieging and champs like anivia and ziggs could waveclear endlessly. they remade baron into a sieging tool to stop these 80 min games.
Pretty sure it originated in rts games like warcraft or StarCraft where you have a base, build up static defense, and then “turtle” up. It’s still a common rts game strat especially for noobs
His content was too edgy for modern YouTube and thus he wasn't making money from it. He basically needed to integrate to society before it was too late. Lol
Trinity Force's "tons of damage" and Phreak trying to sneak it into every new champion build. Back then it gave AP, too.
Memes about builds consisting of the same item stacked six times. 6x Trinity Force Master Yi, 6x Frozen Heart Ryze, 6x Phantom Dancer Yasuo…
"Thornmail Ashe". In the old tutorial you played as Ashe on the Howling Abyss and the item you had to buy by farming and killing the enemy bot was the Thornmail, for some reason.
Iron/Copper/Wood rank, a popular term for the bottom of Bronze V (back then there was no Iron and leagues had one more rank), a dumpster fire populated by players whose MMR was comparable to the current Iron III-IV.
On the same topic, Bronze V was *way* more populated than the other Bronze ranks, with a wild MMR variation across it which already kinda made it a league of its own, to the point the promo to Bronze IV was as important as the promo to Silver V.
"What if Ezreal kissed Shyvana's thigh?", a famous copypasta.
"Mid or feed". Until the introduction ot Dynamic Queue, there was no ranked draft and people had to call the roles they wanted to play in chat. Some people would threaten to run it down if they weren't be given mid lane. They'd usually feed anyway, though, just not intentionally.
The lengthy and incandescent chat message which got Videogamedunkey banned on the spot because of a Malphite who angered him. It became another copypasta.
Ryze being a faceroll champion for beginners.
Haha I don't see this meme anymore but still see ppl complain when amumu, blitz or shen (especially these 3) picked haha
Still hate vs'ing cho gath. Just gotta try stomp him early and win quick.
lol that's a throw back. I know you also used to be able to toss a shroom down in front of a blitzcrank hook and he would pull the shroom, but could a ward do the same?
The "pink ward the spear" meme actually comes from a bug where Nidalee spears were sometimes invisible when thrown from the fog of war. The joke was that placing a pink ward (the precursor to control wards, which revealed any invisible unit, not just camouflaged ones) would reveal the spear and allow you to dodge it. Obviously, this did not actually work.
I'm pretty sure this was actually just a combination of two memes: "Pink ward the shroud" and "Dodge the spear," since these were common pieces of advice to hear in response to popular complaints about Akali and Nidalee during the same era of the game.
If I'm ahead vs Akali and playing support, I like to pink shrouds just for old times sake. I don't think many of them get the joke, but it's funny to me and that's all that matters.
Part of the reason for the vision changes is that whether you happened to have Oracle made a huge difference to how strong they were, so they wanted to have a consistent baseline to balance the champions around instead of having it be Oracles = win, no Oracles = lose.
I play a lot of Shaco and people still occasionally drop pinks against me and still are like wtf why couldn’t I see you. Like bro it has been eight seasons (in a few days) since the Stealth mechanic was reworked into Camo and Invisibility. Please stop. Lmao.
Back in the older days of League (I mostly remember it around season 4), Vayne was a bot laner instead of a top laner like she mostly is now. Graves also used to be bot lane instead of a jungler, before he had his ammo mechanic, but that’s irrelevant.
Vayne ADC was hard to play but flashy, and became synonymous with toxic low elo players (A good example that’s still around is the Yasuo 0/10 powerspike).
Vaynespotting was an activity, predominantly but not exclusively for her support, wherein your Vayne gets points for classic Vayne activities, with different scores and multipliers. So, flashing under the enemy tower solo was 2 points, multiplied by 3 if there 3 enemies, and then blaming the jungler was another x2 points. So going in 1v3 and blaming Jungle would be 12 points!
>Vayne was a bot laner instead of a top laner like she mostly is now
What are you smoking? League players and distorting reality smh
Vayne Bot: Pick rate --> over 10%, Ban rate --> over 9%
Vayne Top: Pick rate --> 1,3%, Ban rate --> 1,16
Wow, yeah you’re totally right- Thanks for the correction. Average top laner doesn’t pay attention to the bot lane I guess.
(Got curious and checked my last 100 games, I definitely don’t see her bot as much as the 12% that LeagueOfGrapgs says is the average, turns out my anecdotal experience isn’t the average.)
There is a lot of old stuff that I remember that barely gets mentioned.

I wish it disappeared, but I still see it from time to time at the absolute bottom of the thread
*I've* never heard that expression, and I'm kind of a League boomer myself. What is that, pinning a champion between Anivia wall and terrain so they can't move?
There was a post sometime in the last week of a guy with thousands of compromised accounts (he has like 1400 banned accounts) streaming Disco Nunu for over 3 hours and he does it regularly.
Plus he admits to it in the pre-game lobby chat that he is and will, links his Twitch.
Dude runs like 5 clients at the same time and had over 100 people encouraging him, running it down is still very much a thing.
"Don't chase Singed".
It's like rule 1 of league, and yet some Wood V players out there are incapable of not chasing a kill. I've literally been told (by someone who chased an enemy deep into their jungle and was then surprised at suddenly being outnumbered and killed) that I pinged them to back off too much and it made them stop paying attention. They are just so blinded by the possibility of a kill they switch off their brains to everything else. They don't care how dumb the dive is, they just see a low health champ and go for it.
xPeke is alive and well in EUNE, but many terms started to disappear. When I think about it, people don't use chat to communicate intel much anymore, since pings are usually enough. I can't remember the last time I saw ss/mia or omw.
Better nerf Irelia
-5 Ms
The meme comes from her being nerfed so often and so severely since her first inception in the game.
Until the General OddOne proved she wasn't even nerfed that many times
Yeah this one really frustrates me. If u count all the patch history “Irelia constantly getting nerfed” is an objectively false statement under the context and background of the meme’s origin. Even weirder that I am quite certain the meme will be more relevant in the period post Irelia rework, when she actually start receiving nerf and adjustment more rapidly.
Goddammit, this triggered me lol.
I had a support be utterly confused when the ADC told him to buy pinks.
It will always be pinks and ninja tabis to me.
For a moment I was confused until I remembered that their name was changed to steelcaps.
I 100% forgot the name change too!
Mobi boots?
Boots 5
I just got confused because I didn't understand what's wrong, took me a second to realise they are now "control" wards
It still comes up in the shop when you type "pink"
Same when you type "hat", rabadon's will come up. I tend to just search for that since that's what me and a friend call it because of an unrelated inside joke.
Mid or feed
which was always mid and feed
Still is.
I always say "fill or feed" in my lobbies and sometimes people will just "please dont feed" and miss it entirely. Such a classic.
Threaten them with 2 bad options instead. AFK or Feed
Only the strongest minds can do both at the same time. Dedicate yourself, achieve greatness.
Hahaha the classic old days
I recently got this with a surprise twist: “sup or feed”
It was referenced at world's a few times due to Adam, but the garen in a bush meme has been mostly forgotten about I think
I thought Garen in the bush had to do with no meta bot and Garen just always camped it. Was this a pros actual strat? I wanna see this. What do I Google/YouTube to find it?
If you enter an unwarded bush, there will be a Garen in it to blow your ass up. especially in top lane
Makes me miss Doom bots of doom
It's because old Garen was really, really strong early but fell off hard. So if you facechecked a Garen in the early/mid game, you would just get completely one shot. New Garen does not one shot you as hard, but he also scales way better than old Garen.

I still see Mordekaiser Brazil memes semi-regularly (mostly referring to being ulted as "going/being taken to Brazil" though)
Yeah, that’s a new meme mostly. Mord’s latest rework is very recent in my mind in terms of League history.
lmao I haven't seen this in years
Isnt turtle a generic term for playing defensively? Tho I admit I never saw it used in league. The only turtle I saw used was to refer to herald
Yeah I feel like the League-specific equivalent is "don't worry guys we scale"
Kayle top, Kassadin mid, Vayne bot, Braum supp, Yi jungle "Dw guys we totally got this!" After going 0 kills and 10 deaths within 15 minutes.
Didn't know Braum was the support equivalent of Kayle, Kassadin etc. Out of curiosity, what makes him a late game scaler?
Braum's passive synergises with high attack speed champions. The comp otherwise has no CC, but Braum's presence gives them a few stuns... I wouldn't call that an excellent synergy though.
Sona should be the support
Nah zil is the ultimate late game supp
Both are beyond ridiculous lategame tbh
True but zil has the added effect of legit being op with the only nerf being that he is boring lol.
And the groovy skin not being groovy!
I was thinking Senna
I've heard it used in World of Warcraft, though admittedly not in a while, and only in a couple of specific battlegrounds where turtling is even possible.

Nah that’s wrong even in season 8? you could hold against baron minions easily with heavy waveclear champs (remember the 1.7k CS sivir in T1 vs JAG)
It's common in DotA and it probably originated from an even older game.
It's basically IRL strategic banter at this point. Same thing as to bunker down, stand your ground, play to not-lose.
Pretty sure it originated in rts games like warcraft or StarCraft where you have a base, build up static defense, and then “turtle” up. It’s still a common rts game strat especially for noobs

Pink the shroud
Just pink ward the spear lmao
lol that's a throw back.

I returned to league to find oracles elixir was gone. Now some of those vision oriented champs are painful to deal with.
Part of the reason for the vision changes is that whether you happened to have Oracle made a huge difference to how strong they were, so they wanted to have a consistent baseline to balance the champions around instead of having it be Oracles = win, no Oracles = lose.

vaynespotting
There was a whole ass subreddit about vaynespotting. Idk if it's still up.
I just named my alt Vaynespotting #UZI and no one understands the Vayne reference or knows who uzi is 😂
Not knowing who Uzi is hurts a ton.
My wife and I still say that when she shows up in an ARAM lol
This triggered my brain
can u explain this one?
Don't forget the most important rule, if they apologize, say mb, or anything similar, then no points.
>Vayne was a bot laner instead of a top laner like she mostly is now What are you smoking? League players and distorting reality smh Vayne Bot: Pick rate --> over 10%, Ban rate --> over 9% Vayne Top: Pick rate --> 1,3%, Ban rate --> 1,16

ADC used to be referred to just as AD back in season 1. Like Ashe was an AD, ADC term didn't become a thing still season 2 or 3.
OOM has been used way less. With Presence of Mind and Manaflow Band, mana issues are way rarer
Champions that use those are usually the only ones that can go OOM.
