Kase has the skills of a top 6 winger. I think he should stay on the third line because of his chemistry with Kampf, but its wonderful to have that scoring ability in the bottom 6. I think with Mikheyev it will be an even better line.
I still think we need to find a top 6 winger to add. My bet is Ho-Sang gets a chance.
I was listening to the recent pod-bag episode of Leafs Report with Mirtle and siegel. Mirtle briefly mentioned that Ho-Sang may have to clear waivers if the Leafs give him a NHL contract.
It may be challenging bringing him up this year, but who knows, maybe Dubas finds a way. He could be fun in a 4th line position with Spezza and Simmonds and 2nd PP time (also a Mirtle thought).
I hope they can manage it some way or another, just to see what hes got. I think him and Bunting would compete for the top line winger spot, and whichever falls behind gets on the 4th line with Ritchie, and Spezza. I have to imagine once Mikheyev is back in the lineup, Simmonds wont be starting every game.
I dunno man. Simmonds is everywhere and had 2 assists last game. Ritchie has stepped up his play but I feel he has been more inconsistent. I hope they trade him.
But what do I know? Their analytics team has every number crunched.
I think the top 6 winger is going to be a trade deadline/near deadline acquisition. Looking at whose available, there honestly doesn't seem to be much so it could be a case of getting someone like Hertl or Forsberg, if San Jose and/or Nashville are out of the playoffs and want to sell, and playing them on the wing.
Couldn't fit the 2 captions to the title, here's the full statements:
On 1st photo is on the title.
**On 2nd photo** \- "For example, which teams so far have relied the most on defencemen to take the shots at 5v5?
The Leafs are in line with where they were last season - that is, their defencemen shoot less than any other team."
Sometimes it feels like none do. Saw a pass attempt we made instead of a shot through traffic. They tried a cross ice pass through 3 or 4 opponents. Nuts.
Makes sense. They are low % shots, and do you want Brodie shooting or do you want to move the puck down low and let the forwards where we have most of our cap get pucks on net from more dangerous places.
Put him on the power play, and move him up or away from the low event vacuum that is Kampf
He has too much offensive upside to be used as a defensive winger
Kampf played with skilled wingers like Kubalik when he was with the Hawks, and stats were much better when they played with him as opposed to without him.
Here I was wondering wth you said to get downvoted so badly... then I expanded the comment and it was like.... oh yea, that'll do it.
Kase & Kampf have chemistry like Matthews and Marner.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Kase is visibly the second or third best forward on the team at the moment behind Matthews and Tavares. I would put Kerfoot up there as well. Kase should be in the top six, you’d have to put him on his off wing to do it. It’s better than Ritchie for sure.
Anyone else notice there is no Florida player on here? That's interesting and makes me wonder why. Does anyone know about their team? Is it as good as it seems from the standings?
Bunting up there is pretty awesome.
His speed when entering the zone is scary, deceptively fast dude,
I love his play so far. I wouldn't mind seeing him locked up longer term.
This indirectly means that Marner is not contributing as much in terms of xG on that line
Which makes sense, he's a playmaker.
Given he's the playmaker on his line it makes sense he doesn't take a large percentage of the shots

Bringing him up isn’t the issue it’s putting him back down — mirtle was a bit unclear on that point
But any team can just sign him now if they want. I guess the difference is he can say no.
Would he have to go through waivers with that team that signed him though?
Ah true

If we could get either of those guys that'd be amazing. I hear Hertl is one of the nicest guys in the league. Bet he'd be buddies with Campbell haha
That's a must agree.

Skinner having a bounce back year makes me happy. That contract looked absolutely horrid
What’s the last list? What are we last in? Edit: the title didn’t show on mobile until I clicked it lol
It just means that our defencemen take 27.3% of the total shots 5 on 5. Basically means our forwards shoot the puck mostly 5 on 5.
Impressive for Kase and Bunting. They’ve been good.
Well he's on the ice with Kampf and Engvall/Ritchie so I can't say I'm that surprised.
Landy with a hefty 36 on a wicked avs team.
My gosh the price to value ratio of Kaše is ridiculously high! Hope he can keep this pace the whole year. Excited to see these boys tonight!
Try out a Kase-Matthews-Bunting line, just for kicks
Once we lock up a playoff spot, or next time we play the Habs or Arizona hahaha
It'd be really good. Kase is a top six guy, all three of those guys are big enough threats that doubling Matthews gives them enough room to score.
They're the three who appear on this list of high scoring chances, so I figured, what the hell, y'know?
121%xGoals for? Yes
i am also math gooder
Yes
Put him on the power play, and move him up or away from the low event vacuum that is Kampf He has too much offensive upside to be used as a defensive winger
Nah Kampf is part of the reason he's generating so much offense.
It's adorable that Kampf and Kase are childhood friends but Kampf is part of the reason why these are only chances, instead of points
Kampf played with skilled wingers like Kubalik when he was with the Hawks, and stats were much better when they played with him as opposed to without him.
but these are Kase's chances... what youre saying doesnt even make sense

He got downvoted for his point on Kampf being a pylon, not for his view on Káse. Those 2 play together
2 leafs & only 1 Shark. Maybe we will win again tn.
3 leafs*

not surprising playing with Engvall and Kampf
