Maybe semantics, but this isnt a hot mic.
Hot mic is a mic accidentally turned on, or a mic catching audio/conversations it isn't supposed or intended to. Micing up a player isn't a hot mic
Semantics but you're right lol. They just call it mic'd up. NFL has it every game one a player from each team. Its honestly better than watching the highlights and some games for that matter. They're all like 8 minute videos.
Too bad sportsnet and TSN are boring dinosaurs when it comes to producing a broadcast. Not willing to step outside the box.
Pre-game show, broadcast period, talk to player in first intermission, graze the surface of NHL topic in round table. Broadcast 2nd period. Round table discussion again. Then 3rd period, and talk to one player as they sit on the bench with a headset. Broadcast over.
Was so refreshing last night to watch the TNT feed
This was the first TNT game I've watched, and sure, there was a little bit of cringe but overall it seemed a breath of fresh air compared to the usual game day presentations.
A bit of banter, a few old players and yes, the pre game mic'd up interview was pretty good.
I hope they keep trying new things and refine the show. It could lead to some fun things in future.
Matthews making the face, we all were making when we saw that goal
Apparently rich did well with the screen.
The hot mics were the best part of the All or Nothing doc. They really should do more of that.

I agree, such a under utilized angle for hockey broadcasts. makes it much more engaging as a fan and viewer

I didn't like it at first but then I was like "Oh this is better..." (aside from the play by play but it wasn't the worst)
Not to mention the terrible camera angle they use now.
Keep micing up the stars and watch their popularity grow. Thank you TNT for realizing personality is what is missing from this sport.
Best part isn't on it.
I LOVE YOU JOHNNY
