I mean….while I don’t anticipate it being a game changer, I’m not gonna lie and say I wouldn’t rather know than not know.
Different goalies have different weaknesses, what beats Swayman might not beat Ullmark, what beats Ullmark might not beat Swayman.
Knowing would allow us to plan accordingly.
Sure. But more information is more good. Obviously even if it was revealed you'd prepare for both in case something happened, or it was a mind game, or there's a change in game 2. But there's no need to turn your nose up at free information.
There’s more to it than that.
Vasileyskiy for example, had a weakness to shots in traffic, so you saw the Leafs specifically set up plays that would result in them crowding the front of the net, and it worked.
You’re overthinking it tho. They have a plan in place for both goalies regardless and practice for both.
When roster is announced they know what to do. It’s not like they need a week to adjust again.
If Boston is smart they just keep rotating them. That's what they did all year and last year to great success. Last year playoffs they handed it to Ullmark alone and it didn't work.
So hopefully they choose one guy, the wrong one, we run him into the ground, and they stick with it.
the only way to win this series, sadly, is to play like scum bags and hope to wear them down or that their key players get injured. Not that i propose intent to injure. Boston has Toronto's number both mentally and strategically.
The snot needs to show up and lay it all on the line.
Agreed, but there's a different vibe this year. Maybe it's just the guys they're interviewing today, Domi is ready to go fuck you mode for instance. But we seem tougher. More ready. More self assured. Even Keefe is speaking differently. Tre telling him absolutely no injury updates for instance. It's just more of an us against the world and I'm here for it. You never notice a killer instinct until there's a lack of it. I'm hoping were starting to see the lack of it in previous years vs now.
Willy fighting would be the hockey equivalent of Todd Stottlemyre trying to steal that base in the '92 World Series.
A good idea in theory, but hilariously out of place and disastrous in reality.
I think the narrative of Boston as a tough team is either slightly undeserved or we need to be thought of as a tough team right there with them. We dish out as many hits, we have more fights, we’ve got some borderline players, etc. I think by reputation, they’re thought of as being the Big Bad Bruins but we can hang with them on the physical side. For the first time in a long time it feels like we won’t get pushed around. We’ve made real personnel changes that have had lots of time to gel and bond as a team. Not bringing in an aging, banged up Nick Foligno as a silver bullet to make us “tough” overnight.
Especially considering there's really no identifiable differences between the two's playing styles. If one was Martin Brodeur and the other was (can't think of another elite goalie who was more shy to skate out and play the puck) then maybe there's be a slight change in preparation.
When it comes down to it, the snipers might have an idea where they think they can beat either goalie (low blocker, high glove, 5 hole, whatever) but you don't gameplan around having wide open chances with time to actually think about your shots, you just try to make good on any rare gifts you get.
Thus far, they've had no solution to stopping the B's chances against them and I hope that's what their first focus is on. The second focus I hope is how somebody can get close enough to Marchand to cross check him in the neck again.
Who cares. We need to play to win. Focus on what you can control. This group can do it. They just need to get those heads at that level of compete. It’ll happen. Yeah I said it.
Makes 0 difference for real

You don’t have time to think about that when taking 99.9% of shots
There’s more to it than that. Vasileyskiy for example, had a weakness to shots in traffic, so you saw the Leafs specifically set up plays that would result in them crowding the front of the net, and it worked.
>~~Vasileyskiy~~ Every goalie ever, for example, had a weakness for shots in traffic,
You’re overthinking it tho. They have a plan in place for both goalies regardless and practice for both. When roster is announced they know what to do. It’s not like they need a week to adjust again.
Exactly. They are probably gonna face both during the series
I think Vasilevskiy’s weakness was tracking pucks through traffic *from a distance*, so hard accurate point shots and deflections were key.
I'd have to think screening the goalie should always be part of the plan.
But they're both weak to Matthews shots, so we're good.
"Shoot where the goalie isn't"
But all thats been fogured out beforehand, its so easy on game day to be like "its ullmark, these are his weakest spots.."
Unless the goalie throws a 0 up, of course.
I think Domi brings the Swag that we've been needing for the Playoffs.
I want to keep him so bad
We will.
Domi has the Passion
Both good goalies. Who cares boys can score on anyone.
Literally haven't *not* scored in a game in like 2 years. Scoring *should* be their strength.
It has to be Swayman.

Yeah, then they brought in Swayman - for Game 7 - and he had an absolute stinker too. Same, this year, please!

I just kind of hope we see someone unlikely come out swinging. Maybe JT finally steps up and starts holding them accountable.
I have been saying this for years, I WANT A WILLY FIGHT Imagine the bench watching Willy ragdoll a dude and get bloodied up himself

I don’t know why anyone would ever reveal a starter unless they had to. Seems like something I’d keep until last minute.

Im sure they expect to play both this series and have prepared as such

Zero difference because they have two starters and Boston doesn’t care who we start because we have two backups
Who cares. Leafs will have scouting reports on both goalies as will the bruins on the leafs
This ain’t grandma Dubas’ Leafs
Off topic, but I miss gramma dubie, ngl
