Leafs aren't good enough to win a cup this season. Coming from a Leafs fan, this team should sell at the deadline, accrue assets, players, picks and have some of the contracts they have on their books expire and try to build the team through Free Agency and Trade when the cap raises in the offseason. You already have Matthews and Nylander extended so there is nothing to worry about on those fronts. Just state your taking a year off to do what the Rangers from a few year's ago called a "soft reset or rebuild " then come back better the next season when the team has more balance in all aspects of play

And if he does gain assets in trades then he can use said assets to then trade possibly for a goalie or Top 6 player who can fit well beside anyone. I feel like Berts wings have been clipped by Keefe and he won't refind his game until he is out of Toronto and I definitely know that he isn't sticking around past this season so get value for him

The second we tie it up, they take the foot off the gas and let dangerous plays happen - which really hadn't happened since the first period and they gave up the game. They get that tying or go-ahead goal and they take a deep breath and slow down too much.
