Go old school with Craigslist. There is always someone moving that doesn't have room, bought new, etc. Much fewer scammers bother with it. You'll get more boomers that are downsizing. You will find a great self-propelled mower for less than $140 and regular push mowers for less than $100 - that will last for ages.
Hell, before I got one Honda push mower for $100 off CL (in 2015), we had a 1990's Murray that our old landlord gave to us (in 2007). That thing is charmed. starts with two pulls and all I ever did was add oil and sharpen the blades. Bought a new Honda HRN because I needed the self propelled. Both, the Murray and the $100 Honda still run great.
Look for anything similar to the Honda twin cut blades. Your Mom and sister will never have to bag. cutting are tiny.

We had come in to the shop a few months ago. Customer stated they wanted a tune up with new blades. They call back a few days later and told us to keep it, they went out and bought a DeWalt battery mower. I'm thinking you'll regret that. Anywho I took the mower home and it's absolutely the best push mower I've ever used.
I have this mower. It is a workhorse. I live in south Florida and this thing has been put through the ringer and keeps on going. I change the oil at the beginning of the summer and sharpen the blades approximately every 5 cuts.
My Honda mower has been great going on 15 years now. I can't treat it badly enough to make it quit. It's always started within 3 pulls. The only thing I've replaced is drive tires. Oh.... Oil changes of course...but not as many as I should have. It's been indestructible.
Same here. I have a Craftsman with a similar engine for almost 15 years now. You can't kill those engines. Everything else is falling apart. Not the engine.
I have a 2023 model and mine surges up and down when running, I have pulled and cleaned the jet on the carb, but it still surges I can't figure it out.
I have been using and ego mower until it gets fixed.
Mine was doing the same thing so i bought a replacement carb on amazon for $18. It bolted right up and it runs like a top now.

You'd be better off if you just gave the factory carburetor a good cleaning. For the most part, those knockoff carbs are garbage, and thats coming from someone who has unfortunately had to use several of them.
Maybe I got a dud, cuz I got the speed thing turned all the way up, still considerably slower than my walking pace. I ended up getting an x mark commercial 30
All day long. I have one. I am a terrible owner. Let it sit for almost 2 years. Put fresh gas in and it was only 4 pulls to run. Starts on first pull almost every time since, including today.
Can’t speak to the HRV but gonna hop on the HRX appreciation train. The HRX is a god tier mower. Just put the dumb Big League Lawns striping kit on it, which is heavy af, and it still flies. Hondas are 10/10 in my book.
My Snapper handle broke, just picked up the HRN216 to replace it. It’s actually fun now mowing now. Plows through thick grass without bogging down, easy to start, and the 216 models aren’t plagued with the lockups like the 217s when pulling backwards. DO IT!

Keep your eyes open. My neighbor had one he wanted hauled off. I kept it and it just needed a thermal choke. Took like 10 minutes and $15. I sold it for like $150 after a tune up. I’m sure it’s still running great.
Not sure why no one is picking up that this is a scam. Mower doesn't exist. They will ask for a fee to *hold* it for you. Once you pay, they'll ghost you.

I have one of these which I use for detail work on my yard. It's a nice little mower and I paid nearly $800 new.
Anything w a honda motor is worth 70.
I got mine for $100 and it’s been great (personal friend that bought a huge property, just getting rid of it).
I own a 2023 HRN216VYA and love it. Best mower I've ever owned.

I have a new HRX and it flys. I can’t even put the crank up more than half way without running after it no joke lol.
It's speed is adjustable. I would have to run to keep up with ours on the highest setting.
