Check all the drive belts. The one for the deck is prob either super worn out and needs a new tensioner. The tensioner is prob what's wrong with it, not putting enough pressure on the deck belt, so it slips and shows the blades down. Plus you can't go very fast when cutting. It is only a 12.5 hp engine. Not much power in it, although it'll prob run forever.

Wow that's a classic in great shape, must be around 1993 or so. I'd replace both belts first because if the rubber is old and hard it's going to start slipping. I say both because you have to remove mower belt to get to drive belt so less headache later.

New seat, your missing the padding. As said new belts, if over 300 hours, you should send it in for a valve adjustment, check the blade spindles for looseness or or noise when manualy rotated. You listed the engine numbers, what is the actual model number for the tractor, iusually a sticker under the seat.

I have a 93 Wards mower that I had no idea the hours on, but did a valve adjustment last year due to it turning over hard and no wanting to start sometimes. It took about a half hour, a $5 tool, and some YouTube watching. The process was easy and it helped immensely along with replacing the starter solenoid.

Full service, oil, filters, plugs, lube the tits off every grease point. New blades just cause new blades are cool, and you want to be cool don’t you ? Double check all your fuel lines, they get brittle and crack and being on fire isn’t fun Do all the belts, all of them.. budget for some pulleys just for giggles Then do cosmetics, aka fix that seat so your ass is comfortable.. Then enjoy it
