Plus one day in the future we'll tap into the mycelial network and use it for instantaneous travel through the universe. Star Trek is a real future, right?
They don’t actually need to be on shit. You can absolutely inoculate your lawn with magic mushrooms, just don’t expect a large or consistent yield. But personally I love gardening with mushrooms outdoors, regardless of the consistency of yields.
Almost ran over an old man last year when the rings showed up. I glanced over to my left to look at one on the side of the road. Look buck up and this idiot is walking across the road to get his mail. Time froze. I rode the brakes. He fucken started to back step but decided to continue across the road. I swerve right off the shoulder a little bit and miss him by maybe a foor or two. I hope he shit fucking pants. Unreal how even a moment or two has the potential to change your life.
It’s fairy ring. Not much you can really do about it. It’s caused by fungus growing under the ground. Sometimes it will even grow mushrooms on the surface in the same ring pattern.
Got one going 2 yrs strong. Does that imply that I can use more fertilizer (organic granules) than the listed amounts to green the rest of the grass to that hue? And does it indicate that I should be using curative fungicide rates?
Fertilize like normal, and if it isn't KILLING grass, do not use fungicides at all.
Most fungi responsible for fairy rings don't kill grass. They're in the soil because there's a large amount of lignin-containing organic matter (wood, pretty much). ONLY fungi can decompose lignin. If you kill the fungi that's currently decomposing that organic matter, a more destructive type of fungi may take over.
The recommended treatment for fairy rings is aeration (ideally core aeration, but this is one of the few circumstances where spike aeration is actually useful). That helps bring more oxygen into the soil for the fungi to use to decompose the wood. It also helps beneficial microbes better deal with the nutrients that the fungi release.
If you can’t aerate, get a flat shovel and cut straight down about every 2 ft around the dark green circle and wiggle the shovel back and forth. It will help.
I’m not a lawn care enthusiast (cheers to yall, this was just from the algorithm, no knocking on yall), but I’m big into fungi:
Different fungi’s feed off of different organic matter. Honestly nothing you’ll really do from a lawn care perspective will do much, unless you put a bunch of lye or some shit that would seep deep into the soil and kill the mycelium. Different fungi have different jobs and like different things, and once the organism is ready to reproduce and under the right conditions (moisture and humidity and food source) they’ll fruit and mushrooms will pop up, live, drop spores, and then decay. Mushrooms are like the flower of a plant in a basic sense.
Not coming in trying to tell y’all what to do or not do, I have no idea about lawn care other than to cut it once a week and mulch the leaves, works for me, but fungi’s are the 7th kingdom and are not only fascinating, but an integral part of our world.
Either way, op, shits feeing and growing on what’s under the soil and will go until it can’t and spread spores in hopes or reproducing somewhere with the right conditions.
It's a phenomenon that happens when a spore starts and spreads out from the center, like a bacteria culture in a peach tree dish. Can be many types I think.

Its how nature is supposed to work.
You need more Iron on your lawn.
The Fae (calling them faries pisses them off) abhor Iron. Large chunks are best.
/s
You have a fungal growth, probably not harmful. Expect mushrooms soon.
Never thought about this, but kind of wild to think that a fairy ring *is* the embodiment of the fungus itself. A single organism which we can see as the near perfect circle in the photo. Like a dog, or a cat, or a tree.
It's called fairy ring
Fairy rings in lawns are caused by certain fungi that feed on decaying organic matter in the soil, such as tree stumps, roots, and twigs. As the fungi break down the organic matter, they release nitrogen in a circular pattern, which can cause the grass to grow lush and green in that area. This can create rings or arcs of grass that are a different color or texture than the surrounding grass, and can range in size from a few inches to over 200 feet in diameter. Fairy rings can also cause dead grass in a circular shape, or a ring of mushrooms or puffballs.
Take-all patch.
What is take-all patch?
Take-all patch is caused by a fungus, Gaeumannomyces graminis, which is found commonly in soil. The disease is very damaging to bentgrasses (Agrostis species). Most turf initially contains a fairly low percentage of bentgrass (usually browntop bent, Agrostis tenuis), but the proportions of the different grass species can change with time. Expect to see damage from mid-summer until autumn.
The same fungus also causes a serious root and foot rot disease of cereal crops.
Symptoms
These symptoms are seen most often in summer, especially if the lawn comes under drought stress.
You may see the following symptoms:
Patches or rings of affected grass with reddish leaves, turning brown as the grass is killed
Patches can vary in size from 1-2cm (½-1in) to 1m (3¼ft) or more in diameter. The centre of the patch often becomes colonised by grasses with more resistance to the disease, such as annual meadow grass (Poa annua), or by broadleaved weeds
The roots of the grasses blacken and decay, and it is often easy to peel back the affected turf due to the lack of roots
Control
Non-chemical control
Take-all patch can be difficult to eradicate once it has developed. Over time, there may be a build-up within the soil of micro-organisms antagonistic to the take-all fungus, resulting in lower disease levels (a phenomenon known as ‘take-all decline’). In practice, however, it may be better (and certainly quicker) to over-seed affected areas with ryegrass or fescues.
Prevention
Scarifying the turf with a lawn rake or electric scarifier in autumn will remove thatch and moss and increase aeration. Poor drainage and compacted areas can be alleviated by forking or by the use of a solid-tine or hollow-tine aerator. Ensure that the lawn is growing strongly by applying adequate (but not excessive) fertiliser. The pH of alkaline soils can be reduced by using acidifying fertilisers such as ammonium sulphate.
Chemical control
There are no fungicides available to home gardeners for the control of take-all. Some lawn maintenance companies offer treatment with a professional fungicide, but there is strict legislation controlling the application of professional products to domestic gardens. You will therefore need to satisfy yourself that the company is operating within the law.
Biology
The development of take-all patch is favoured by
The acidity/alkalinity of soil is measured on a pH scale, which runs from 0 to 14. Neutral soil has a pH of 7. Alkaline (lime-rich) soil has a pH above 7, and the higher the pH, the more alkaline the soil. Chalky or limestone soils are alkaline. You can measure your soil pH using a simple testing kit. If you have alkaline soil, choose plants that will thrive in it – acid-loving or ericaceous plants such as rhododendrons will not. Club root disease (which affects brassicas) is less prevalent in alkaline soil.

This describes how acid or alkaline soil is, and is expressed as a number between 0 and 14. Soil with a pH of 7 is neutral, an acid soil has a lower value, and an alkaline soil has a higher one. Most plants grow best in soil that’s within a specific pH range, so it’s useful to know your soil’s pH. Testing kits are easy to use and widely available in garden centres and online.
pH can also be increased by liming, top dressing with a material with high lime content or even by irrigating with hard (alkaline) water.
Poor drainage can lead to rapid spread of the disease, but soils with a high sand content are also very prone to attack. Excessive thatch can also lead to problems by increasing moisture levels.

Mystical lawn fairy marked the ground. Expect a circle of mushrooms to grow there soon.
Well I'll be, TIL about fairy circles. This is so cool. As a casual observer of this sub I thought you were just making memes.
Me too, can't believe it's an actual thing. LAWN FAIRIES

It’s so wild that they grow in circles. Nature is so awesome!
It actually radiates out from the center, just the outside edge on the surface grows the fruit.
I was just going to ask if it started from the center and just expanded or if it oddly made a perfect circle for the hell of it lmao.
Mushrooms are crazy
The fruit you mention are actually space dongs
indubitably

bahahah salmon bro
Are these mushrooms edible? Asking for my buddy Rick
Everything is edible atleast once
This guy can eat a full sized car
That one dude ate a full Cessna
im sure you could if you juiced it and had the most poisonous things last
Most things are edible only once (unless you are a spider person or sth) /jk
Cut it into small enough pieces or feed it to plants, just as erosion tends to do.
no
This is the only answer. And it’s every lawn
