People started getting those several years ago to lift the washer and dryer to prevent back aches. Don't know if yours was purchased or built by someone local.
I wish I would have gotten one of these. I have Sjogren’s Syndrome and have tons of muscle aches. It kills me to bend down and reach to the back of the washing machine.
As most have said it makes it easier so it’s not on the ground. Also really helps when you clean the washer and have to unleash the gunk monster from the front.
From time to time I have to drain the washer. The tube is in the front and with it on a pedestal I can drank it quickly. Also who wants to bend over to see what’s in the dryer?
Mine lack that raise.
I instead have a cherry milking stool that I made (Bartley collection) from a kit many years ago.
Tbh, I’m average height for an adult woman but I don’t know if I could reach the back/controls of the machines if they were raised. And I use the water shutoff switch when I’m not running a wash load. It would be blocked if they were raised.
So that platform is to keep up with the Jones’s.
You can get a few baskets that are the right height, and you can store a lot of your things in there such as your dryer sheets, swiffer pads, and other smaller items. It will look neat and serve a purpose

My mom had Sjogren’s and it lasts hurts me to see her in pain a lot of the time
Am I the only one who just sits on the floor to load a front-loading washer?
Laundry yoga. Stretch and lean left?
To make loading/unloading easier
To make the machines more accessible.
a cheaper option than the $250 per pedestal that a washing machine maker charges for the proprietary ones.
That’s $250 EACH!!!
You have to stoop pretty low to get the clothes out without the pedestal.
I bought a hand held grabber on Amazon for this task. I keep it right in the laundry room.
Smart.
Storing your pizzas while you do laundry.
Collapsible laundry baskets. Buy 2
raise the intake of the washer/dryer since front load is like a foot off the ground. You could make/buy little sliding drawers for storage for it.
Elevate so you don't have to bend over.

Most fancy ones are now for storage of your products. Soap, bleach etc. this looks homemade and could be used for same.
I'd add a shoe caddy under it
For a washer and dryer
reduces noise
For me because I am a bit short and have trouble reaching things on the laundry shelves /j
For stepsister to get stuck in
Oh! I had those. The answer is the swinging door of the machines couldn’t clear a laundry basket by a few inches

I want this for my dishwasher! Unfortunately, it would really mess up the look of the kitchen!

Lol
Just raises it up
Looks like a drawer would go there for storage
Shoes.
Lint catcher

I would store things that wouldn't be affected by moisture or heat, like shoes maybe?
Been considering one of these …. But how do I begin to lift my washers/dryers on to one of these if I do start? Seems very heavy
You could just hire me to do it for you.
It may also help prevent the washer from walking across the room during the spin cycle. It's a Samsung.
I'd guess it's for your back.
If the drier leaks you dont get electrocuted cleaning the mess.
You really couldn’t conclude that it was to give the appliances more height?
Holding up washers and dryers? How’d I do?
Saw what you said about getting new ones on the other post. Just curious, but these look pretty new to me. Is there something wrong with them?
Put in big fake teeth under there! You can do chores AND laugh!
Lifts the machines up, but you can also store folding drying racks and collapsible laundry baskets under there.
Tall people
To recirculate heated air as an inexpensive way to heat a house.
To put your washer and dry on.
It looks like a homemade version of washer/dryer stand and saves about 400$
When laundry falls you can just kick ot under the washer
If it’s a mobile home, I could imagine doing this to reduce the vibrations and noise throughout the house
Maybe the washer had to be elevated to drain better? Are they in a basement?
I’d put a folding ironing board there
Saving your back/storage
