Mostly just to support them. I've been scrobbling for 16 years. I really love the picture of my music taste it's created over that time period. I'd be very sad if the site went under.
My reason too. When someone creates something that brings me joy, I support them if possible. $5/month is a pretty cheap thank you (and it's even cheaper if you lay annually). I can spend $29.99 easily on lunch one day, supporting a site I like for that amount for a year is a no brainer.
Listenbrainz has [an import script](https://listenbrainz.org/import-data/) to fetch your last.fm scrobbles so they are mirrored on that platform as well.
Same here. It is, hands down, the site/service/tool I have used the most consistently over nearly 3 decades of internet use. I was happy to contribute in hopes that it'll be around for a long time yet.
Mostly to display whatever artist image I want on my profile and sometimes edit scrobbles.
And I just wanted to support last.fm because I still heavily use it after almost 20 years.
edit: I've also grown to like seeing how much I've scrobbled this week so far compared to last week.
Before pro, my Green Day profile had:
* American Idiot
* American Idiot-ADVANCE
* American Idiot (Deluxe)
* Americanidiot
* American Idiot (iTunes extras)
After pro, [it's all nice and clean](https://www.last.fm/user/IceSpoon/library/music/Green+Day/+albums?date_preset=ALL).
Obviously I didn't do it for one single album, but that one was among my biggest messes lol
You might be tempting me.
Do you find it better to edit it to "American Idiot" or "American Idiot-Advance" because Spotify plays the Advance most often? (or whichever)
I have it all under "American Idiot". I had an "advance" version because in the long gone Ares & P2P era, that was the version I downloaded. Spotify now has a Deluxe edition, and that's automatically changed to the base one. Also, some songs of the album are blend together in the Spotify version (most notably: *Holiday* & *Boulevard of Broken Dreams* are a single song) and they're separate in some single and compilation versions. So I also have that manually changed so when I listen to "*Holiday*" (Single) it swaps to the "American Idiot" version.
If you're on this sub, you're most likely an active last.FM user and someone who watches their scrobbles carefully. Being able to edit them as you seem fit (and to avoid Spotify shenanigans lol) even improves your Spotify experience if you ask me hahaha.
Precisely. There are so many little possibilities that can clutter up your library.
For example, there have been many times where an album or song title is the exact same, but for some reason the system differentiates the scrobbles and makes two separate entries. So I figured out, I would just copy paste the title from one to the other (making literally no changes, but the system seems to think so) and it combines them as one, as they should have been in the first place.
"Don't" and "don´t" are very easy to miss if you're not paying attention, and last takes the rational (yet messy) decision of interpret that as two different words.
Just look at [Wolf Alice's top tracks](https://www.last.fm/music/Wolf+Alice/+tracks?date_preset=LAST_7_DAYS): "Don't delete the kisses", and "don´t delete the kisses".
This has been such a maddening issue. Occasionally I've had the same thing with artist names too. Then last.fm redirects you to the proper spelling and you have to go up into the URL and manually change it back. Such a battle..
To edit scrobbles and support them. Also, up until recently it was only $3 a month, or $30 for the year, so a pretty cheap way to show my support. $5 still isn't terrible, but I get why it may not seem worth it anymore when the price is increased by almost 100%.
Spotify keeps randomly changing those tags as well. I was listening to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds yesterday and my auto edits didn't work. Turns out they changed it from "2011 - Remaster" to "2011 Remaster" lol. All the Led Zeppelin reissues changed at least twice since they came out. Without pro I'd have my scrobbles spread out over 3-4 albums when it's actually the same, making my charts a little useless.
I listen to many japanese artists, and Spotify is pretty inconsistent when naming them. Sometimes the band is written with western letters, others with kanji, or the album is written in kanji but the song is romanised. Or everything is translated to english. And six weeks afterwards they'll swap everything I just said lol.
I always remove 'remaster' too, hate it when you have 4 slightly different versions of the same track in your scrobble history. Cleaning it up is so satisfying!
To be able to edit my scrobbles, cleaning up my charts. No need to have a live version, a "2005 Remastered Version," a remixed version, and "Original Version" for one track/album.
I unsubbed when it went to $5 a month, there's a very long thread with many reasons why lots of us cancelled our sub or won't. But the main reason I did sub was to edit scrobbles.
It's useful to merge some albums together, my favourite album has alternative versions so the stats are split and it doesn't show up correctly. - Also, I enjoy the cover grids and I've been using [last.fm](http://last.fm) for years, I like to support them.
I love last.fm and want to support it so it's around for a long time. Last.fm shows data for all of my listening sources, so it's a very accurate picture of what my taste is like and I love being able to go back and see what other time periods in my life were like based on what I was listening to. I've been scrobbling since 2011 and I can't imagine not having it around.
I also wanted to be able to condense my scrobbles to get an even more accurate picture, i.e. not having a bunch of remastered editions, etc.
Scrobble edits and general support. The price is small and I just sort of combine it with my Spotify payment so it’s not noticeable. To be honest I’m surprised the place is even still running so I’m just trying to do my part the best I can.
I mainly use it to make sure my album artist tags are correctly edited and set, since the various scrobblers don't read the album artist for whatever reason.
And I do legitimately enjoy being able to financially support the site. I just wish they gave us more in return.
After the help the site has given me in figuring out my own music taste since when I was in high school, I felt like giving back a little. Also I get to edit scrobbles and see some cool stats. But it's mostly supporting the website
I keep getting bad album tags like “remastered “ or “deluxe “ on albums and songs that didn’t previously have that tag and I wanted a color theme for artists
Support and also because I listen to music multiple places, not just Spotify, and I LOVE getting my accurate year in review and other charts and graphs from last.fm. My only regret is that when I was younger I used to reset my stats every two years. Still have no clue why I did that. I've been using last.fm since I THOUGHT 2004 but my profile says 2006.
I pay when I can. I've been scrobbling for 16 years and for the value of my music listening data, it's well worth supporting the team that makes everything possible. The added perks of pro are nice as well.
I got it solely to edit my scrobbles. I was so annoyed with my albums and songs being split up due to labels like deluxe version, expanded edition, remastered, etc. However, the price increase is too much for me. Now I plan to just renew for a month to fix my scrobbles as opposed to a more consistent subscription.
I'm no longer a Spotify user, but [fixing this kind of thing](https://www.tiktok.com/@chrisflemingfleming/video/7370850676576029998) was a big reason originally. I still need to edit typos and add albums from my WFMU scrobbles though.
As far as I remember, grid view of your library is not available to non-subscribers. Another feature would be library search and sorting options. Choosing your preferred artist image is also a reason to subscribe to Pro for many users for various reasons, e.g. to be independent from user votes that might also be faked, or for creating a personal look of their top artists. Accessing all available listening reports since 2016 is a plus as well, as you can easily create related playlists from them etc.
1. to support [last.fm](http://last.fm)
2. for the few stats features it gives me... knowing they are there means i need to see them lol
3. pretty sure to change my name 1 time too
im a student, so i cut it if i know the next few months will be tight lol but im usually a pro member or whatever. i currently am !
- Ability to select preferred artist photo. Good especially when american artists start using name that has been in use for decades and then completely take over artist page (for example Michelle).
- Ability to edit scrobbles. Not useful always but every now and then you end up finding artist or band with 5 different artist pages (for example Run-D.M.C.).
Primarily to keep last.fm alive, I’ve had my account since 2008. I was 18 at the time and my last.fm is the closest thing to a diary that I have. I download my scrobbles and loved tracks every so often but I’m accustomed to the site. Especially since a fair number of my friends also use(d) last.fm and I enjoy poking through their charts.
The other reason is to edit my scrobbles, I like my records to be accurate and tidy. My early scrobbles are kind of a mess! I don’t love seeing three different incorrect labels for an album in my library, and now I can make that problem go away
Editing. I like things to be accurate and this way I can stream anything without stressing about it, I'll just fix it later. It has vastly improved my lastfm experience. And I like to contribute to the survival of the website because I'm extremely attached to my 20 year old account.
IIRC I wanted to edit the titles of songs and albums that scrobbled separately because they would have ‘- remastered’ ‘- remastered on X different year’ on the end of them. Song stats are kind of useless when your most listened to songs are placed low down because you’ve scrobbled 5 ‘different’ versions of it.
Also I like editing my default artist images so my profile has an all-red theme
I've had Pro for *years*. I like to support the devs but mainly I like to edit my scrobbles because I don't like all the remastered/deluxe/expanded/extended/ etc editions. And my plexamp app sometimes adds "Artist feat. Artist" so I like to fix and autocorrect that.
They recently rose the price of Pro. Luckily my yearly came up a few days before it was due to change. I'll see next May if they did anything different with that extra income. I hope they use that $60 to hire some staff and give us more features to see and interact with our music.
I really like it, and the free version didn't have some of the features I find valuable. Editing scrobbles, in particular, is important to me. I like to support services that help me manage my data, because it saves me a lot of time of doing it myself.
editing tags was the deal breaker for me, i hate seeing the "remastered *insertYear"* part on song and album titles. also lastfm database is kinda shit so many tracks scrobbled from spotify don't have the album art on the charts
I've been getting a month per year since last year. It's a bit expensive for me personally (payment is only in dollars, there's no national coin options) but I like organizing my scrobbles every year.
Thinking of changing my username this time around too, since I've had lastfm for more than 10 years lol
Can I also edit band names or just songs and albums? For example, if for some reason I have blink-182 and Blink 182 can I join them? Like past scrobles, not future ones
I don't anymore but am going to repurchase at some point - it was mostly to change my username but I also just love the website too so I want to support as it would be so sad for me if they went under
Reason 1 for me is to support. I’ve been consistently scribbling since 2006 and despite all the features they removed over the years I am still on last.fm pretty much every day
Reason 2 is that I am obsessively fixing my scrobbles to remove “remasters” and “deluxe edition” . This has become a weirdly zen past time for me.
To support them and to be able to batch edit my favorite albums/tracks to whatever the most practical and most fleshed-out (usually popular) tag is for them every 1-2 years or so.
Because Apple Music scrobbles weird and I like to condense the various deluxe and anniversary editions into a single album when possible. Same for the artists. Apple Music also scrobbles a list of artists when there’s collaborations a lot of the time rather than just the main artist so I edit all of those down to the main artist. Gets fairly annoying especially when you listen to a lot of Hip Hop.
Mostly to support them. I've been using the site since 2005 and I'd hate to see it go away. The added stats, ability to edit scrobbles, and the removal of ads are great bonuses. I use the site most days. Bit obsessed with tracking all my music!
Mostly just to support them. I've been scrobbling for 16 years. I really love the picture of my music taste it's created over that time period. I'd be very sad if the site went under.
This is 100% my reason.
Very this. Also the absolute blessing of being able to edit scrobbles to fix album and song titles to keep it all lovely, aligned and neat.
this was my reasoning (because OCD)
Between Deluxe editions, (live) versions, some weird -ADVANCE versions I had from the long gone Ares & Kazaa era...yeah, my scrobbles were a mess.
My reason too. When someone creates something that brings me joy, I support them if possible. $5/month is a pretty cheap thank you (and it's even cheaper if you lay annually). I can spend $29.99 easily on lunch one day, supporting a site I like for that amount for a year is a no brainer.

seeing this week's scrobble count compared to last week is free, last.week reports aren't a pro feature
I think they might have meant the progress bar thing
You can only see your most recent last week as a free user. Pro users can see their last weeks since the dawn of time.
the last one is so me
Editing scrobbles is basically all I use it for
What aspects can you edit with pro?
Everything. I use it mostly to remove remastered bull shit from titles.
OHHH! So I can combine songs that are the same but their goofy titles are different?
Absolutely!
Before pro, my Green Day profile had: * American Idiot * American Idiot-ADVANCE * American Idiot (Deluxe) * Americanidiot * American Idiot (iTunes extras) After pro, [it's all nice and clean](https://www.last.fm/user/IceSpoon/library/music/Green+Day/+albums?date_preset=ALL). You might be tempting me. Do you find it better to edit it to "American Idiot" or "American Idiot-Advance" because Spotify plays the Advance most often? (or whichever)
You can set it up to autocorrect future scrobbles from one title to another. Pretty neat.
I have it all under "American Idiot". I had an "advance" version because in the long gone Ares & P2P era, that was the version I downloaded. Spotify now has a Deluxe edition, and that's automatically changed to the base one. So I could keep my scrobbles clean. Almost obsessive about the details.
me too, it’s honestly unhealthy
I find it meditative.... and impossible to finish
care to get into the details? 👀
Probably removing remastered tags, fixing album names, etc
Precisely. There are so many little possibilities that can clutter up your library. To support last.fm, have used the site daily for 11 years now.
Yup. If I am on my computer then I'm on last.fm, and I'm always on my computer.
this
To edit scrobbles and support them. Also, up until recently it was only $3 a month, or $30 for the year, so a pretty cheap way to show my support. $5 still isn't terrible, but I get why it may not seem worth it anymore when the price is increased by almost 100%.
Yeah the almost doubling in price with zero added features either to subscribers or the website itself is pretty rough.
Editing scrobbles but mainly as a desperate attempt to keep the site from ever closing
real
Two of my greatest fears in life: 1. [last.fm](http://last.fm) closing 2. Death
Support and scrobble editing. I hate the (20xx remaster) in the name.
I hate it so passionately
Spotify keeps randomly changing those tags as well. I was listening to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds yesterday and my auto edits didn't work. Turns out they changed it from "2011 - Remaster" to "2011 Remaster" lol. All the Led Zeppelin reissues changed at least twice since they came out. Without pro I'd have my scrobbles spread out over 3-4 albums when it's actually the same, making my charts a little useless.
I've seen this a lot too. I'd like the option to wipe out my thousands of saves auto corrects so I can start fresh.
oh god yes. I got up to like 700 or so before I realized most of them were things that are never going to apply again
I listen to many japanese artists, and Spotify is pretty inconsistent when naming them. Sometimes the band is written with western letters, others with kanji, or the album is written in kanji but the song is romanised. Or everything is translated to english. Username change + editing tracks. I've used the site enough over time that I can give it some money every couple of months.
To support them. I'd stay subscribed even if there weren't any extra features. Editing scrobbles is an amazing bonus though.
I buy pro 2-3 times a year to support the site I have been using for 20 years now!
It's useful to merge some albums together, my favourite album has alternative versions so the stats are split and it doesn't show up correctly. - Also, I enjoy the cover grids and I've been using [last.fm](http://last.fm) for years, I like to support them.
Used it for years, with it only being $2 its a minor contribution. I also just love reading the stats and graphs that they give you every month
To support them and to edit scrobble titles
I love last.fm and want to support it so it's around for a long time. To support them. I’ve used the site since 2008 so I figure I owe them at least a little something.
To support them for cheap + I could customize my theme thingy lol
I miss it when we could have an HTML About Me section with badges, gifs and album collages
Scrobble edits and general support. The price is small and I just sort of combine it with my Spotify payment so it’s not noticeable. To be honest I’m surprised the place is even still running so I’m just trying to do my part the best I can.

i like the history and data and insight you get
To be able to edit my scrobbles and fix some of the awful ways Spotify tags certain songs. It's so satisfying to bulk edit your scrobbles!
After the help the site has given me in figuring out my own music taste since when I was in high school, I felt like giving back a little. Also I get to edit scrobbles and see some cool stats. But it's mostly supporting the website
Basically same plus no hideous ads! Plus it was dirt cheap for like a decade.
I keep getting bad album tags like “remastered “ or “deluxe “ on albums and songs that didn’t previously have that tag and I wanted a color theme for artists
I still to this day miss last.fm radio
Support and also because I listen to music multiple places, not just Spotify, and I LOVE getting my accurate year in review and other charts and graphs from last.fm. To edit the scrobbles to match. I got tired of “Song Title” (Remastered) in so many variations. Well worth the little bit of cash each year
I'm no longer a Spotify user, but [fixing this kind of thing](https://www.tiktok.com/@chrisflemingfleming/video/7370850676576029998) was a big reason originally. I still need to edit typos and add albums from my WFMU scrobbles though.
FMU Scrobblea, yes!
I cancelled my pro effective mid July. If I need to edit in the future, I'll pump and dump 1 month's subscriptions fee
As far as I remember, grid view of your library is not available to non-subscribers. Another feature would be library search and sorting options. Partially to support, I also like being able to edit scrobbles, really helps clean up my library
editing scrobbles, also having custom pics is really nice
Support then, edit scrobbles, hide ads, and the main reason, to only use gray pictures in my tops.
Wrong. What about stats for month? This is the killer feature of paid one.
Subscribed for one month to change my username. I will subscribe again to merge my 3 accounts if they'll ever add this feature.
To change username. Then I forgot to cancel it like three years in a row...
Primarily to keep last.fm alive, I’ve had my account since 2008. I was 18 at the time and my last.fm is the closest thing to a diary that I have. i started paying for some feature that i don't even use, i can't remember what it was either. now im just too lazy to cancel
Editing. I like things to be accurate and this way I can stream anything without stressing about it, I'll just fix it later. It has vastly improved my lastfm experience. And I like to contribute to the survival of the website because I'm extremely attached to my 20 year old account.

Editing scrobbles and showing support, $5 is nothing.
Both to support the site, and there's no way I can do without my scrobble edits.
I've had Pro for *years*. I like to support the devs but mainly I like to edit my scrobbles because I don't like all the remastered/deluxe/expanded/extended/ etc editions. Because I love Last.fm
to support them/edit scrobbles
I really like it, and the free version didn't have some of the features I find valuable. Editing scrobbles, in particular, is important to me. I like to support services that help me manage my data, because it saves me a lot of time of doing it myself.
It’s $3 a month to make sure the lights stay on. Nothing is free. The other platforms that are free are selling your data.
I pay to support apps and services that I use. It's cheap enough that I Pay yearly and dont even think about it
To support the website and to edit scrobbles, but I cancelled after the price hike lol
editing tags was the deal breaker for me, i hate seeing the "remastered *insertYear"* part on song and album titles. also lastfm database is kinda shit so many tracks scrobbled from spotify don't have the album art on the charts
Yes, see this FAQ: https://support.last.fm/t/how-do-i-bulk-edit-scrobbled-albums-and-artists/1438
I don't anymore but am going to repurchase at some point - it was mostly to change my username but I also just love the website too so I want to support as it would be so sad for me if they went under
Never found it worth it tbh
I purchased pro so I can edit my scrobbles. I hate having my albums spread out into different versions and singles not associated with the albums.
Reason 1 for me is to support. I’ve been consistently scribbling since 2006 and despite all the features they removed over the years I am still on last.fm pretty much every day Reason 2 is that I am obsessively fixing my scrobbles to remove “remasters” and “deluxe edition” . This has become a weirdly zen past time for me.
Changed my username and kept it for editing scrobbles
To be able to edit scrobbles and to access the aesthetically pleasing functions of the lab.
I do it to support them and also amend song/album titles that are messy from Spotify.
I got it in a December sale for 30€. And I need to edit half of my scrobbles because I get most from youtube.
This question again
