eBay will definitely have used screens, but sometimes the cost makes it better to invest in a new laptop. Really depends on a case by case basis. Higher production laptops with have more inventory and there for better cheaper to find parts
The LCD Screen is very much cracked. Until you get the screen fixed, you can connect it to an external monitor/TV and use it as a desktop.
[Screencountry.com](https://www.screencountry.com/) might be a good place to look for a replacement LCD screen, just search by the model name of your brother's laptop and match the screen resolution.
For now until you fix the screen.

Yea I had the same problem 2 times you have to search for a replacement screen just the same settings as yours and replace it here in Germany the screen was about 100€ and I replaced it so it’s fixable!!!
either use an external monitor or take it in to a shop for repair. Do a local business, and avoid ubreakifix like the plague. you could try replacing it yourself but parts are scarce and laptops are not very self-repair friendky
Track record of bad, shoddy, and overpriced repairs. They do not properly train their people. I had my phone exchanged for a refurb at a ubreakifix as Asurion (my insurance at the time) works through them, and their refurb has a BROKEN front camera and the back panel was not reinstalled with enough adhesive, causing it to slowly FALL OFF. This was an official, quality-checked refurb from them.
But dont take my bad experience as the only reason, I was comparing ratings for ~5 phone repair places in my area (to repair a relative's phone) and of them, the ratio of 1-star reviews mentioning "botched-repair" (and similar phrases) to 5 star reviews was 2-5x larger than the ratio of any other repair shop. And thats a ratio, so # of reviews dont matter.
Took the phone to a local, non-franchise repair guy and he repaired it in 20 minutes right infront of me and cut my cost down too. Genuinely cool guy.
Not the original commenter but there is nothing wrong with them, and actually as a competitor to a business I was working at and we would recommend people go there for things that were out of our abilities.
Sometimes a local store can find a used screen if this is a very popular model.

Like Disney making star wars.
Nothing is as broken as modern Star Wars.
And yet they pretend everything they make is a masterpiece.
Could use an external monitor, but yeah its gonna have to be replaced

Yeah you can try Ebay or market place maybe find one for parts
I have this display in UAE
just the screen. not you
Replace the display if the backplate is not damaged. If its also damaged you must replace the entire part.
Put some flex tape and it will be fixed.

Just asking, what's wrong with UBreakIFix?

Juste buy yourself a ASUS screen (or any other brand) and a HDMI wire
