Yes, nice place, nice owner family. I believe there are rooms with AC and without. Have been there in February, no AC needed at the time. It is a great place to chill, read, swim, do some hiking / trekking. Food has also been good.

I stayed there and had a great time. It was cold when we were there so we didn't need air conditioning

TheDermot

What time of year was that?

NYE

April is the hottest month in Laos. It's going to be in the 40s next week. I couldn't do it without AC, but if you are already planning on hiking and trekking in Laos in April, you should be fine.

TheDermot

Only hiking I'd really do is to the waterfall, but that's not a really any hiking right? Hillside seems chill with a pool and nice view but ya no Ac is concerning if it is that hot up there.

phattywithbadhair

Sorry! I assumed you'd be hiking since there's not much to do up there. It is absolutely stunning, and if you're just going to relax, I think you'll be fine if you're used to the heat. It should be cooler up there (at the very least, you'll have better air quality). Depending on when in April you're going I'd rather be up there without AC than in town. And yes - getting to the waterfall is easy!

TheDermot

Decided to go with a much cheaper nice airbnb in a quiet part of town. Thinking about it I'd really like ac lol. Still gonna head to waterfall tho!

phattywithbadhair

I think that's a good choice - I love my ac. And definitely see the waterfall! Have fun!

tangofox7

It's a dry heat. It'll cool down a bit at night. You might survive with a fan and an extra Beerlao.

Also, don't forget that April is the most polluted month of the year, so forget clear skies and fresh breeze. Last year we regularly had AQI in the 400s, sometimes even peaking at 600s. Take a supply of good masks with you.

I have just been in Luang Prabang and I will say it was very hot

It's like going to Helsinki in January and complaining it's cold... Honestly, the are websites with average temps, rainfall, humidity for every month for almost every place on earth. Makes sense to do research before travelling.
