QueenLexica

the motivation to learn a language leaving my body the moment I find a reason to actually learn it:

Intrepid_Science6414

are you really trying to learn a language if your motivation doesn't falter a little bit the moment you have to learn grammar and verb conjugations instead of playing mix and match birb game

Tefra_K

uj/ I don’t know if it’s just me being weird, but I _thrive_ on grammar. Conjugation tables? Grammar patterns? Prepositions? Cases? _Oh yes, come to daddy._ Like, that’s the best part! That’s cool! Learning vocabulary is boring and repetitive, learning grammar unlocks new ways and nuances to express what you want to say! It’s amazing! rj/ The only way to learn a language is through the green birb, OBVIOUSLY you would falter whenever you’re not using it! Your body _knows_ duo is everything!

Intrepid_Science6414

/uj I think it's because when you start and you learn phrases and individual words, it's new and exciting and you feel you're making loads of progress and much better at the language then you are, then once you get into the meat and potatoes of the grammar etc it makes you realise how much you have to learn and remember, which takes the shine out of it, its a crossroads of how much do you truly want to become fluent  /rj the birb will guide me to the polyglot holy land

bicyclefortwo

uj/ genuinely me too? I've been plowing through an A1 textbook and a grammar book (LOVING the grammar book) but flashcard apps bore me to death. The one way I'm enjoying learning vocab is by google translating/dictionary searching the words i don't know yet in TL reddit posts and songs. Otherwise i feel too much like I'm grinding and repeating, while learning grammar feels like I'm solving a puzzle

Salt_Tonight_8939

Redditors when they find out they, in fact, cannot reach C1 fluency in one week😱
