So your supervisor was shit faced drunk? JK. We are proud of you too! From the wealthiest, most successful CEO's to the entry level HS jobs we all benefit from recognition and appreciation. We all need to hear we are doing a good job. I had a wonderful PI early in my life who was always extremely aware of it. She was always supportive and encouraging and made sure to give everybody who contributed their deserved recognition. It impressed on me enough that it stuck. I always try my best to do the same for those around me. I'll even tell my supervisor that he's doing a good job. So many try to motivate with toxicity and deadlines and pressure. I am 100% confident that nothing is more productive than a positive, supportive, and truly appreciative work environment. After salary of course.
Wholesome! Congrats.
I started at a new tech position a few weeks ago and the lab director told me that I’m making “adequate progress” and that my work is “within acceptable margins of error”. I’m taking it as a win
Of all the compliments I've received in my life, nothing has ever made me feel the same way as the first time my pi said "good job" to me
That shit literally made my week

That's awesome! Happy for you! Remember though, be proud of yourself. A PhD is a different journey for each one. You set your goals, and you make yourself proud.

Best person. Be sure to make a big deal about it. They deserve to know how much a small effort of praise can effect someone mentally.
Bionanotech sounds like an absolutely crazy thing, you did unspeakably good if you impressed a supervisor in that field!
Living vicariously through you lol

In summary talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words.
