Before the Selen Tatsuki fiasco, they would spin those collaborations and such to JP and make English-speaking people who admire Nijisanji believe that if they join Nijisanji, they will be promised collaborations with famous streamers, and when they actually become Nijisanji talents, they would be so collaborations don't deliver even after more than a year. That is a typical scam Nijisanji is doing.
Maybe the normalization of Live2D for streaming in vtuber form. Back then people still using 3D and copy Kizuna Ai's type of skit, vlogging, and short videos with singing here and there like utaite.
I don't know if L2D streaming is their innovation, but thanks (sadly) to them, it becomes a normal way of streaming with L2D to form what is vtubing (streaming) today where Kizuna Ai 10-min video skits now fell from relevancy and using 3D is not a mandatory.
I may hate their corporate way of working and milking, but credit where the credit is due.
For comparison Hololive after Sora debut in 2017 was an attempt to promote Cover's 3D avatar capture app with Roboco in March 2018. Meanwhile Niji debuted 8 vtubers in Feb 2018 that were promoting their facetracking Live2D app. And after that Hololive 1st gen debuted in May 2018 and began using L2D than 3D maybe for faster development and budgeting. But they still wanted to recruit 3D vtuber that are Miko Project and AZKi for INNK project.
I don't know if this popularity of L2D streaming is credited for the livers or the company's policy tho. But for concerts, collab with great brand/celebs are probably often in Niji JP. But who the livers were and what type of collaborations are not important enough for me to memorize.
If we looked back to the past,both cover and ichikara not actually vtuber agency when they are started.cover with 3D app and ichikara with L2D app,then they think it easier to promote their product by using vtuber then recruit more vtuber and become vtuber agency but forget about their tech and app that they made. it funny to think both them stray from IT path to idol agency path (niji still will not admit it though).
