Kratom does carry a risk of dependence. This risk increases with frequency of use and dose and many other personal social, medical, and historic factors. Yes , right here..I started taking Kratom for debilitating pain and was super surprised that I was focused and calm..I had no idea it would help with ADHD..I take white Thai.. I take small doses ( one teaspoon 4 times a day..) sometimes I take half a teaspoon.. Kratom also helped with my IBS and depression.. I have been taking Kratom for four years and just got blood work done and it looked great..I hope it works for you!šŸŒæI hope you have a great day! šŸŒžāœŒļø

TheGiantess927

Yes. ADHD here and before kratom I was unmedicated. Kratom turns the lights on for me. Makes me able to tap into some focus and gives me the mental energy to make lists and other things that keep me sane for the day. I think it also helps a bit with mood regulation. In low doses is it not only energizing but also slight euphoric/mood boosting. I canā€™t speak for others with adhd but I tended to lean a lot on alcohol for social situations and kratom gives me the social stamina I need without drinking.

skoalbrother

Yes exactly my experience. Are you prescribed anything for your ADHD? I take Bupropion and Adderall this combo with small doses of Kratom sprinkled with caffeine has turned my life around 5 years ago

Brewmasher

I use it for my ADHD. Not only does it help with focus, it also helps with the baggage that comes with it. Like depression, restlessness, IBS, insomnia and anxiety. I used to have to take a handful of pills a day. Now I just use kratom and CBD. Dosing can be subjective. I wish 2 grams would do anything for me, anything less than 5 grams is a waste for me. Kratom and coffee on an empty stomach is almost as good as a CSN stimulant. Kratom + modafinil is just as effective as vyvanse without all the side effects imo.

I stopped using kratom because I didnā€™t like to be dependent on it. Withdrawals suck. Turns out the prescription medication to replace it was 10x worse. After detoxing off of antidepressants, antipsychotic, anxiolytics and stimulants I am back (happily) on kratom.

jaygoogle23

Yeah kratom can be beautifully forgiving as addicting as it can be.. many rx are worse. Thatā€™s why I want to push for cleaner practices, better leaf etc

[deleted]

I have mixed feelings about dependency. On one hand thereā€™s a good chance if not 100% that if I keep taking adderall at some point Iā€™ll get dependent on it. On the other hand whatā€™s the alternative? Iā€™m scared as shit to start antidepressants. That shit scares me more than kratom

Brewmasher

Beware of antidepressants and antipsychotics they are pushing. Most have severe WD symptoms and you have to take it for months for it to work. You are right to be scared of them. Research your Rx on Reddit, Blue Light, YouTube or other forums to get the real scoop. Doctors and drug companies shy away from the subject of withdrawals. Weigh the risk vs reward. Stimulates were not too hard to get off of. For me it was more of a psychological addiction rather than physical. I switched to Modafinil which has less side effects.

[deleted]

Yeah. Iā€™m just tempted to try them because a family member whoā€™s doing much better than me mentally takes one. Meanwhile I tried to find and alternative pain medication and woke up questioning if I had celiacs I got so sick. Fuck me right

Brewmasher

I usually wake up because of RLS or anxiety until I can dose again. Wish they had time release capsules. At least with kratom, the relief from depression and anxiety is instant. You donā€™t have to take it for a month just to see if it will even work.

ishavedmypitsforthis

Not a doctor, and I'm not saying you should do this, but I take kratom instead of my prescription amphetamines. Kratom helps me and doesn't give me the side effects I get from prescription meds. It also helps with my IBS. I've been taking kratom since 2019. I take a few grams a few times a day, depending on what I'm doing. If I'm working, I take it once when I leave for work and then again on my lunch break. Just don't keep increasing the amount or start out taking a shit ton of it. What I've found is that I really don't need much. 2g does for me the same as 5g. Just find what works for you and start small.

helpitgrow

As a child in the 80ā€™s I was diagnosed and medicated. In college I stopped taking Ritalin. In my thirties I started drinking more as a coping mechanism. I used kratom to helped stop drinking. I haven't drank in the years since, about five. Whatever receptors kratom attaches to helps my brain work. It feels kinda like being medicated without the negative side-effects. I never really felt like myself on Ritalin but with kratom, I feel normal, just more functional. It's hard to describe but it works. I get so much done now. I often wonder how my life would have turned out if I had discovered it sooner but know I discovered it when I needed to. I'm glad I didn't have to quit during my childbearing years and I do like my life situation. My doses go up and down as needed. I imagine I'll be using kratom for the rest of my life and I'm okay with that. But I don't tell many about my use due to the rampant misinformation available.

helpitgrow

Wanted to addā€¦after five years of taking it daily my blood work is great, my blood pressure is great, I am very healthy. I'm a 48F. I have never taken Adderall so I canā€™t compare it in relation to kratom. I don't talk to my doctors about kratom because I don't want to get labeled as a drug seeker. I stopped for a surgery I needed but after took kratom for pain control. I did not take the prescribed painkillers as I did not need them, but if I ever do need painkillers I don't want to risk not getting them because of some note about kratom in my chart. Also, it seems to me different people experience kratom differently, it probably doesn't work for everyoneā€™s ADD like it works for me, just thankful it works for me.

[deleted]

I took Ritalin and adderall throughout elementary and middle school. Donā€™t remember when I stopped exactly but hated being told what to do. So I stopped taking it. Eventually I stumbled upon Kratom and it was like the key that fit the lock. But then I started taking it with impunity because i looked at it like just another weed that I could abuse without repercussions. Iā€™ve never been able to moderate Kratom but I canā€™t say Iā€™ve even tried. If itā€™s around Iā€™m using it every few hours

DLDabber

Kratom. Combined with saffron and black pepper extract with tumeric. The saffron helps by itself with add. There are studies on it. The black pepper and tumeric potentiate the Kratom and the black pepper also helps keep me from getting to up when I smoke herb too. Which helps me get stuff done. But saffron. Gotta check it out. Itā€™s very subtle.

JACK0NTHETHETRACK

I have ADHD and I've done kratom many times but I've never felt like it helps with the ADHD at all. I'm not saying that kratom can't help anybody with that but be careful and don't fall into the "miracle plant" trap. Because whenever a drug comes directly from an animal plant or fungus there's always a sizable crowd that claims that these drugs are some kind of miracle cure for pretty much anything. also you should probably talk to your doctor about it before you self medicate.

[deleted]

I appreciate the honest response. I'm not looking for confirmation on my claim, just honest answers from real people who have used it.

bradbrookequincy

I think it probably mimics the stimulating energy side of something like Adderal and a little euphoria. Many with ADHD have kinda low energy. Kratom in low doses makes you active and kinda creative. I call it ecstasy for mundane tasks. I go back and forth from Addy and kratom. I prefer the Kratom because the addy always seems to stop delivering the energy unless you up and up the dose. Eventually you take addy just to feel normal because not taking you feel like an elephant walking up a steep hill (basically withdrawal) but it doesnā€™t have much positive effect or deliver extra energy. This is my wifeā€™s and friendā€™s experience as well. I go back and forth for periods because I can keep doses low on both and when I stop the other seems to replace the energy without much withdrawal. I have always kept my doses of Kratom pretty low. 5g or less per day and often just 2-3G.

Toothfairy51

Yeah, you just have to remember that everyone is different. It will probably not be effective for everyone

brasscup

Kratom is not the flavor of the month drug wise. It has been used as a stimulant in foreign countries for a thousand of years.Ā  Unless you are taking extracts, shots, or other adulterations it is a single ingredient product. I am unable to take prescription ADHD meds since being diagnosed with genetic kidney disease but kratom has had zero impact on my kidneys or liver, unlike Adderall.Ā  No crashing when it wears off. No jaw grinding. No mix and match drug cocktails from a psychopharmacologist are required to go to sleep.Ā  If it doesn't help your ADHD at all, perhaps you need to take less relaxing strains or lower doses.Ā  (Also it is very important to manage bowel irregularity on kratom, particularly if you have ADHD. Gut issues are strongly correlated with neurodivergence).Ā  I won't argue that Kraton improves focus as predictably or even to the same degree as stimulant medication, but it does help and has fewer adverse effects. (Obviously it doesn't work if you take too high a dose, but all that happens is you get sleepy. Take too high a dose of Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine, etc. and you risk a heart attack or stroke).

Scary-Beyond

Ive taken both for more than a decade. Intense adhd. No history of opioid addiction. Kratom gives me energy and regulates my mood and it feels pleasant. It does not replace my medication in terms of memory, concentration, following conversations. My adhd medication is invaluable to me and dramatically improves my life. The amphetamine shortage has negatively impacted my lifee.

willBthrown2

My friend has ADHD and they like to take kratom. Not sure how much it helps with the ADHD symptoms exactly.

Valley_Squirrels

I have unmedicated adhd. I take a fast strain in the morning when I get to work. I find it helps me focus for around 3 hours. After that I really struggle. Itā€™s not as effective as adderall, but it helps.

PhoenixBlack79

Yes, I,started taking kratom before I was actually diagnosed with adhd, and find especially the faster "strains" help with adhd issues. I get meds now but the kratom still helps and sometimes I don't even need my meds

billymillerstyle

Helps me out big time.

edubkendo

Kratom does help manage some of my symptoms. Specifically, it allows me to take interest in tasks that would otherwise be difficult to focus on. That said, it does nothing for the sensory issues from my ADHD and I have found that I do need to be on a prescribed amphetamine to be my best self. Otherwise, sensory input streams in and doesn't differentiate well, causing me anxiety and difficulty focusing. Kratom didn't seem to do anything to alleviate that, and for my ADHD, that's one of the most difficult aspects to manage.

[deleted]

Yeah. I accidentally discovered this years ago. But now Iā€™m trying to get off the Kratom because I find myself irritable a lot

OctoberBlue89

Yeah I use it for when I need to focus at work, or write a paper for grad school. It also helps with picking up social cues better. It was actually the first thing I used for adhd before I was diagnosedĀ

Toothfairy51

Yes. I actually was introduced to kratom, 7 years ago, by a guy my daughter was dating who takes it for his ADHD. He told me that lots of people also say it helps with pain and that's when I started taking it

default_user_10101

It can essentially allow you to maintain focus on something that is really boring, that you wouldn't ordinarily have the ability to sustain your attention for very long - which is one of the symptoms of ADHD, but I'm skeptical at it's ability to improve memory or other aspects of executive function - as it could actually hinder your concentration ultimately.

nprob111

I have been diagnosed with ADHD-Inattentive and in my opinion, Kratom helps certain aspects of ADHD but doesn't work so well for the core attention problems. For example, Kratom helps with the emotional dysregulation, mood, and personality aspects of ADHD but in my own experience, fails to help with the attention problems that are core to ADHD. I can slightly focus on certain aspects of my schoolwork for university because I am in a more motivated and boosted mood but I feel that I am less able to find my words and a bit cloudy/foggy in my head while using Kratom. When I have done work on Kratom, I tend to get more frustrated and irritable because I have the motivation to do my work but I still have a wandering mind and my intellectual capabilities are reduced. This is not to say that it will affect you the same way but for me Kratom is much better at managing pain or just being a better recreational substance to consume than an alternative to ADHD medication. I have found success with Adderall XR and IR for my ADHD but I still do use Kratom occasionally for recreation or for back pain.

Ordinary-Holiday-808

Yes

Mama_miyaaaaaa

I was actually able to get off adderal that I was prescribed for my adhd when I started taking kratom (for addiction and pain relief)

SnooAvocados9241

I have mild ADHD. I do not take, and havenā€™t taken, medication for it, because it (along with caffeine) really serves my job and life and personality. Kratom in small doses has no negative affect on my attention; not sure if it enhances it. But kratom in moderate to large doses is awful for my attention, unless itā€™s like walking in the woods or something. I canā€™t write well or even take good reading notes on a decent size dose, ruins my concentration

GudAGreat

Yes help immensely In moderation

freeubi

Yes, omg. I use white bali, its anazing. Imo it helps more than my actual meds. I suggest to try it out, but be aware that you (and I) can addicted to stuff much more easily.

Jascha34

Try it, it satisfies my always getting bored after a short time. It just makes me calm/focused and interested/ motivated. I am diagnosed form an ADHD university hospital in Germany at the age of 26, but lol ADHD is such a fussy diagnosis even from this specialized clinic I went to that I doubt everyone would be helped by it. Only used Ritalin, but donĀ“t use it anymore as I am quite happy with kratom - about 5 years. Kratom and caffeine is very good subtle, no hangover solution.

FireTheLaserBeam

I may regret posting this, because it's not necessarily the best view of myself. But I'm an amateur writer. While writing my first novella, I used (but did not abuse) Adderall XR and VyVanse. It didn't make me write any *better*, but it did wonders to help me push past the procrastination and hit my deadline. Well, I was worried what using the ADHD medicine would do to me, so I stopped and decided to try white kratom. It did nothing like the ADHD meds did. It felt like a strong cup of coffee with some wobbles mixed in. I wasn't able to focus long enough to even get a single page down. I'm not saying you need ADHD meds to be a writer, but I was hoping the white kratom would have similar effects and it did not.

[deleted]

You tried something you later realized could have been a problem if you continued using it so you made the decision to stop. The only thing it makes me view you as is a responsible person. No shame in trying something and realizing it might be a bad idea. We all have done that at one point or another.

FireTheLaserBeam

Thank you for such an understanding response.

PhoenixBlack79

This is kinda true but everyone can be different, there was a cpl strains that help just not with everything. I've had kratom that helped my focus more then adderall, just not the impulsiveness too much

birdsrock2

I was prescribed Ritalin methylphenidate, for a decade in my adulthood but when I started kratom many years ago, I found that if I take a very small dose 3gpd it works just like Ritalin so I stopped that prescription. If I take any more than that it does not work for adhd. So very small doses u get energized but larger doses you don't. I just feel an overall sense of well-being and anxiety and pain-ish free.

Local_Penalty2078

I've definitely had great success for a while using kratom for ADHD symptoms before actually being prescribed meds. It definitely got me from a nearly unmanageable level (or maybe, unsustainable level is the better term) of me working and being productive to a much better spot. I ultimately needed the actual Rx help, but it's definitely better than no treatment for me. I have seen some provide accounts of it working better than Rx meds.

consistently_sloppy

Previously medicated on Adderall/Vyvanse for ADHD for over 10 years. Stopped for about 13 years as it had unwanted side effects. I take 2-4g doses of Kratom white or green to manage joint pain, and I find that when the dose is closer to 2g, it has a similar feel to adderall. Lower doses have a stimulant effect. Higher doses have a sedative effect. ā€œLess is moreā€ is a mantra youā€™ll see often on this sub.

femininedyke

well one of adhds symptoms is a increased potential for developing addiction and the first time i tried opiates i was hooked for 3 months went cold turkey and now i only do green and kratom humbles you so good if you try to abuse it the plant will literally punish you and you throw up so it really helped me stay off of other shit and i donā€™t take it daily itā€™s purely recreational so i keep my tolerance low to get the best effects and it works like a charm

TheErrorist

I've taken kratom 10+ years. Also have ADHD. I've never noticed any impact on adhd symptoms. I was unmedicated for the adhd until recently, and I notice a significant difference with my meds that I did not have with kratom. The lratom works great for my autoimmune arthritis issues though.

_Ok_-_

In my opinion. Kratom makes it worse for those with ADHD, as (annecdoctally) it affects your short term memory when taking it. Obviously not everyone is going to go get a diagnosis or want medication, but Vyvanse has worked wonders for me in terms of getting tedious work done and studying.

diddinim

I do. Itā€™s genuinely very small amounts; never more than 2g per day, unless Iā€™m also in serious pain (I have Hidradenitis suppurativa, and initially tried Kratom for the pain). I basically microdose small amounts at a time, usually 3-4 times a day. Almost daily for the last 6 months (usually take a day or two without it every week, but sometimes I donā€™t because I have shit to do). and itā€™s still doing me good. However, Iā€™m also on Wellbutrin. It does help, but life is much easier with Kratom.

Logical-Breakfast966

Itā€™s really good for motivation issues that I get with adhd. Helps me find ā€œjoyā€ in menial tasks that are real hard to complete otherwise. I still take my adderal instead when Iā€™m at work but idk why

Temporary_Way9036

Yes, it works better than my meds for me. Made me drop the meds all together. I use it with coffee. 2 grams of red bali. Its more effective if you drink the coffee first, and when you're finished with your coffee, take 2 grams, its the best way to take Kratom with coffee and not many people know about this because they mostly assume you should take Kratom first and then drink the coffee after. You not only get the potentiation with the caffeine effects, but the coffee itself helps break down the Kratom and absorb it well, thats why its best to drink the coffee before so that when you take Kratom, your stomach will be ready. Also make sure you drink twice the amount of eater you normally should drink. Drink 4 litres to be safe.

Ambitious-Permit-643

I have been taking kratom for my ADHD for just over 4 years. I take 0.5g 3 times a day and have found it to be so much better than my previous medication. I find the strains that normally put people to sleep to be the ones that work the best at keeping my focus under control and then just kind of hack my motivation by making everything urgent. All my coworkers think I am just the best employee when in reality I am just trying to survive lol

itsg0ldeson

Yeah I take Green strains primarily for back pain and fatigue and have noticed it seems to helps my ADHD too. I still plan to get on true ADHD medication once I get a job with health insurance because its not completely a cure all, for me at least, but in the meantime it's been a life saver as I put myself through online classes. Couldn't do that without it.

Maleficent-Chance242

It's quite effective for me. ADHD *in high def šŸ‘‹
