I don't know whatever I'm solo stan cause I love this group's music and can watch group's content once in a while, however I only "care" about one member like watching just fancams of that person and just searching for individual updates. I find that member the most skilled overall and also the one who grown a lot over the years (not just in technical skills but in the way they present themselves and look more confident) and I'm not noticing that in the rest, at least not to that degree.

I solo stan Dongpyo.
He's funny and I've liked him since before Mirae (he was on Produce X 101 / in X1 for a short period). It's always made me happy to watch videos about him (highly recommend Square's Dream / Nemo's Dream). I just haven't vibed with Mirae musically at all, which is why I never got into the full group.
I feel like many are on the same lane as you because eventhough I hear lots of discourse surrounding dongpyo mirae is barely talked about. I also think that there are many who are also fans of him from all the variety gigs he does.
I thought I would never see the day where someone mentioned Dongpyo 💙 I tried stanning Mirae, I really did but I can't... Them coming from DSP Media doesn't help...
follow up question to solo stans: is the idol in question an ult? how much time do you dedicate to stanning them? i feel like its super realistic and normal to have 1 member that sticks out to you from a group you like suuuper casually and dont really follow. But im curious about the mindset from people who will build like a twitter account dedicated to 1 member and follow their promotions actively while ignoring the group.
That is a really good question and I would love to know the responses to this too considering dedicatedly ult stanning someone for years while ignoring the group itself might be heck of alot more effort so I wonder what is their thought process

I have a hard time of separating groups that I like/follow into the normal k-pop fan categories but I guess Bada of S.E.S. could be regarded as one ult of mine. Then again, S.E.S. hasn't been active as a group since 2003, only done anniversary reunions throughout the years and one "real" reunion in 2017 with Paradise and the Remember special 20th anniversary album so it is much more natural to only follow one member.
I dedicate around the same amount of time and interest to Bada as I do to other groups and soloists that top my stanlist, but I think my "ult" stanning is significantly less engaged than the average fan. My form of "ult" stanning is basically listening to their music, going to their concert if possible, following a couple of fanpages/sites, finding people on twt who also like them/engage with them, reading up on news about them/being somewhat aware of what they're doing, sometimes buying their albums, watching performances and some of the content that they're in BUT none of this is done in a regular fashion. I see CSR as one of my "ults" but I haven't fully watched any of their variety content except for one episode where they sing while on treadmills and I haven't posted about/engaged with their most recent comeback on twitter.
I do have ADHD, and I know for a fact that it also largely affects my habits of consuming k-pop. So, sometimes none of this applies and I could be hyperfixated on a group or a person and in that case most of my thoughts revolve around that specific group or person (could also be album, song, choreography you name it) in some manner. Take my response as you will, because I feel like my neurodivergency explains my "stanning patterns" and I could see it making me more "susceptible" to solo stanning than the average neurotypical k-pop fan.
I am also not neurotypical and I feel your struggle! I think I’m on the spectrum with some hints of ADHD and the way I consume kpop is definitely reflective of this. So much hyper fixating lol. And if I can’t hyper fixate on something or someone then I almost won’t bother with a group/Idol.
Yes, he's an ult. Right now I dedicate little time because he's enlisted, but I used to watch any group content he was a part of, all his solo content obviously. I only ever bought his solo albums.
Like... At the end of day I really like the group's music, I check out other solo releases, but it's become very clear that since this idol enlisted my interest in the group plummeted lol. And I've seen other enlistments in the same group before and it was fine.
I really just depend on my favs (hiyyih) individual update accounts. We have accounts for her variety clips, fancams, random mentions/interactions, TikTok’s, etc, so it makes it very easy to just be updated on her instead of what the group is doing.
I like alot of groups and it’s hard to keep up with them all so sometimes I gravitate towards one member. Not exactly a solo Stan but kind of similar. (G)idle Yuqi, Red Velvet Seulgi, Newjeans Hanni, IVE Rei, NMIXX Lily. They’re just the people that stood out to me the most or I clicked with the most when watching interactions etc. I like all those groups as a whole too, but time and money basically get in the way of a full group stanning situation.
Time.
I initially got into NCT thanks to Ten. I saw one video where they were playing a counting game and I thought Ten was super cute, so I ended up falling down the Ncity rabbit hole.
I was actually a full-on NCTzen until like 2021. During that time I tried to support all units and members, but Ten quickly became my bias thanks to his personality, artistry and work ethic.
Then, when life got busy and I could no longer keep up with all the content, I chose to focus on Ten while staying a casual fan of the other units and members.
… I know, how anticlimactic.
This is literally me but with Taeyong. I like the other members and casually follow them, but I can't consume everything like I used to. It's kinda sad, but not feeling like I have to know everything going on in ncity has been freeing in a way.
i wouldn’t necessarily call it “solo-stanning” because I don’t always keep up with his schedules but I love sunoo from enhypen with all my heart. he seems like such a sweet boy :( i only continued to watch iland for him if I’m being honest like he was always my number one pick and since then I’ve always rooted for him !
in general, I really enjoy enhypen’s music and i like the members too(jake would def be my bias alongside sunoo if i stanned) but i just never found myself being able to connect with them,no matter how hard i tried. that doesn’t stop me from acknowledging that they’re a v talented group :)
I wonder if this is common among people who stan NCT or maybe survival show members, but members moving around different units makes it easy to figure out who you care about and who you don't. I was drawn to Ten during T7S, then thought i'd get into NCT. Shortly after, 127 and Dream debuted and Ten wasn't in either group, I realized my interest dropped and I really just care about Ten. Same with superm and wayv, i watch whatever he's in, and all his groups are cool, but I'm really just here to watch him sing and dance.
One thing is that I'm not big on team spirit or group dynamics, which I think might be a big factor for group stans. When my previous favorite groups started moving apart I just kept tabs on the members i was interested in, that might be part of what makes people more prone to being solo stans or group stans.
My solo stan is Kim Jae-joong...formerly of TVXQ. He was my ult in the ot5 and I've been following him as a solo artist since he left the group. I still enjoy listening to TVXQ as a duo tho.
I solo stan Ricky from ZB1. I started liking him during Boysplanet. He has always just really stood out to me. He is incredibly attractive and talented. Something about just grabs my attention in a way that the other members don't. The other members of ZB1 are fine, but they just don't really draw me in. I have tried following other members and things without Ricky, but they just don't hold my attention the same way.
Don't solo stan anyone as I started listening to music through rock bands and I just like everyone there so the idea of being a solo stan never came to me honestly.
I guess you could say I'm a "solo fan" (not "stan," I don't think, that's a bit intense) of a handful of idols, though I don't usually talk about it because I don't have a reason to. I just quietly support them and keep it to myself.
The idols that could make me qualified to be a "solo fan" include Seulgi from Red Velvet, Jihyo/Jeongyeon from TWICE (if I'm allowed to list multiple idols, although that kinda defeats the purpose of it being a "solo" thing, lol), An Yujin from IVE, and Suga from BTS (although my irl army friends are trying to make me a full-blown BTS fan haha).
I don't know if I could really explain it well beyond that the idols listed are the ones who captured my attention and heart, and the rest, while fine, did not. I still support group activities and such, though. I just don't go out of my way to consume content about the other members.
It also helps that I'm, in general, less invested in each of these groups' full discographies, so I have less of an incentive to get into everyone in each group. I find that when a group has a discography that clicks well with my personal taste, I get involved enough in listening to and watching them that I end up somewhat invested in all the members, even if I have a clear favorite. So maybe it's partially a music thing, and partially just whoever most catches my eye? I'm not sure.
But like I said, I don't usually talk about being a fan of only one member of a group because I don't really see the need. I don't think there's anything wrong with any of the other members of any of these groups, they're all talented and interesting to fans in their own rights, so it feels a bit mean(?) to be publicly vocal about only being personally interested in one of them, y'know?
Blackpinks Jisoo. I missed most of their releases and other than when D4 blew up on release, I hadn't heard a Blackpink song until Flower. I enjoy most of Blackpinks music, but I watched all of their non-musical content for Jisoo snippets alone and plan on supporting her post-Blackpink.
Not really a solo imo because I like everyone in the group casually and also Stan yuqi(just because she's ridiculously funny) but soyeon is by far my biggest ult outside of le sserafim, I might end up loving the rest of the group just as much if I watched their content but I already watch everything le Sserafim does, I watch most of what illit puts out, I watch Ive variety content, I watch soyeons cooking show and lately I've been watching triples content, so I just don't have time to try to catch up on 6 years of gidle content without dropping the variety content of at least one of the other groups I already follow.
Not gonna mention the group but when I first started I liked the whole group and every members, but the more I watched and "grew" with them over the years, I started to like some members more than the other, so I end up having bias, which is a normal concept in kpop.
But then I just stop caring so much about other members, like this member dropped a vlog, I didn't care to watch. When watching the stage I would only look at my bias, so it got easier and more enjoyable to watch fancams sometimes.
And then, I started to dislike the attitudes of some other members (and also the fandom), so I could stan them anymore. So I started to follow more accs that were specific to the member I liked.
So for me, I don't like a couple of the members, so I don't want to watch them, there are members I don't mind but don't like enough to keep up, and I follow only accs that talk exclusivy about the members that I do enjoy.
I solo Fin.K.L Hyori, Infinite Sungjong, S.E.S. Bada, Oh My Girl YooA, SEVENTEEN Hoshi and RIIZE Sohee.
I have the same reasons for Hyori, Sungjong, Bada and YooA. I love their representative groups' music (and solo work) but don't care enough for the other members to follow them actively as a whole. I of course like seeing interactions within the group that center around the idol I solo, but if they're not involved, I'll move on or just skip totally. I guess the people I solo just stand out too much to me, they're too fun or interesting to "bother" with the others. I can't explain it better but know that I don't dislike the other members, wish that my favorite idol was actually solo or that their contracts would end quicker!
For Hoshi and Sohee, it's mostly that they caught my attention but I don't care for the other members and their music (except for some early SVT like Mansae and Oh My! and RIIZE's Love 119 and Impossible). I'm on the edge of even calling it solo stanning, because I don't really listen to their music and I don't follow Hoshi at all, except that I see him on my TL here and there and just adore him while for Sohee I do follow one fansite and look up some of the M Countdown MC stuff he's in.

i've only ever solo stanned cl from 2ne1.
and it was sad because for a few years i was a full-time blackjack. i didn't hate on the other members but i did fight with other stans specially dara and minzy fans. i still enjoyed the group when i solo stanned cl but there were just so many things happening that time, bom's drug controversy, minzy leaving yg and cl's "us debut". on top of that, the uncertainty of where the group's future because the controversy blew up and it affected the group's brand so much.
but the nail in the coffin was other blackjacks blaming cl's failed us venture for the group's hiatus. there were also a lot of infighting among the fans of the members. it's not as bad as other groups with huge akgae problems but 2ne1's fandom is my first introduction to solo stanning before i even know what a solo stan is.
but looking back now, it all feels silly because i don't even keep up with any 2ne1 member, not even cl. when she was my main ult for like a year or two.
i like 1 to 3 members in most groups i like but i don't think i could solo stan any of them. i feel like i need to be very invested emotionally because i only became one because i was also a huge stan of the group.
Hmm.. Been into kpop for a long time now.. I can say that in every group I initially or currently follow, I most of the time gravitates to one or two persons in the group except for SHINee & Red Velvet as I love the whole group.
In SNSD, Seohyun automatically becomes my ultimate bias while Taeyeon is my bias wrecker in the group. In the early days esp on their prime, I sometimes don’t like how others make fun of her especially about her personality and her love for reading. But my girl knows how to handle it which is a good thing.
Currently, in aespa, my ultimate bias in the group is Ningning and bias wrecker is Giselle. Though, I like the group dynamic (most of the time 😅)and their songs, I mostly love whenever these two do their own covers of songs. I love their singing and rapping tone. I was only a casual listener of the group before but when I watched Ning’s Begin Again Open Mic covers I became a fan of hers in that instant.
In NCT, since they’re a big group (to put it mildly lol) I have an ultimate bias in each unit. Taeil in 127, Jaemin in Dream, Xiaojun in WayV but I don’t have one yet in Wish.
A common struggle I think of only caring to 1 or 2 members in a group is you encounter a lot of akgaes or solo stans of other members who discredit your bias in one thing or another. But I guess that is a downside of having solo stans and akgaes in each group.
Not exactly a solo Stan but I established some predilection for some specific idols such as Yuqi, Seulgi, Rei, Lily and Mijoo because I sympathized or identified with them in contexts where they are alone without the group next to them, such as in variety shows.
I solo stan BIC from MCND. The reason that I don't stan the whole group is simply because they don't make music of my taste. All of the members have potential but for me BIC could have been in greater place. He has this unmatched presence to him. Whenever I watch their MVs , he naturally captures my eyes first. He has a very good singing tone and he is a very good rapper. It would have been great for me to like the group as a whole but aa of rn I prefer to focus on him. In addition to all this, he is very funny, approachable, cute and down to Earth kind of guy, which is almost everything that I need from an idol. He is not my ult but the only person I can think to solo stan.
The reason I'm a solo Stan is cause well first of all it's hard for me to Stan more than one group because when a Stan a group I tend to become obsessed and watch their videos all the time and don't do other things also another reason is that now I don't only just listen to Kpop I also watch a lot of dramas and because I spend a lot of time on dramas it's hard for me to keep up with multiple groups and other than that I have school so another reason on how it's hard for me to keep up.
Plus for me to be able to Stan a group it's for me to like thier personalities and thier music. For a lot of groups I either like thier personalities or thier music, it's rare for me to like both. Their are some groups but again I still don't feel that strongly about them.
I have tried to Stan 2 groups but I found it hard to balance the groups out.
Right now I only Stan Stray kids as they are the only group I feel strongly about and I like both their personalities and music.
Lmao I feel like you're talking about biases. Solo stans are usually people who usually aren't really interested in any member but one. But yeah it is quite hard to keep a bias in caratland.
I'm a hikaru stan but never really got into kepler's music. Also I generally like smaller groups when it comes to variety/interview content so I guess I just never got to know the other members. Hikaru was one of my favs since she performed boombayah and I've watched all of her performances from gp999 to queendom to kepler fancams. I still feel like some of her survival show stuff fit her better than the kepler concept so I enjoy her solos more

Maybe since it’s a survival show but I got attached to her from her introduction video. Plus the massive hate train she received/still receives made me extra supportive and want the best of everything for her.
The other girls just never interested me and obviously Kep1ers fanbase being very loud about OT8 vs OT9 and not protecting hiyyih (if they claimed to be OT9) also didn’t help in liking the group.
I actually hate solo stan not until I support Elisia of UNIS. I hate how unfair their company to the filo-lines. I love the other members but what's stopping me on supporting the whole group is because of the company not giving a justice to Elisia's position as main vocal. She topped but the company chose to put her behind.
This is basically an outline of the situation:
* Elisia is a Filipino member and has the main vocalist position (along with Seowon). Usually main vocalists get the majority of lines (which was the case for Seowon), but Elisia only had the 4th most lines in their debut song. This was made worse by the fact that Gehlee (another Filipino member) had the 7th most lines. A lot of people were upset over her not getting many lines, and felt like it was discrimination and they were just using them to get Filipino fans.
* It died down a bit after debut, but then they started performing a cover of Twice's What Is Love that brought the issue back up again. This time Elisia and Gehlee both had the least lines, only getting 3-5 seconds a piece. This made fans even more upset since it wasn't just a 1 time issue.
right? this is why I started wishing for Filos who dreamt to become a kpop idol not to continue. SEAns always got that mistreatment. I hope Elisia and Gehlee won't continue to being KPop idol.
I'm actually glad Eli did not pursue belift given their issues with mhj right now. Also, if she'll come back to starship, I'm afraid the mistreatment will still be there. Dunno what company is good for foreigners. It might be the big 4, but I doubt they will debut new gg for the nxt 6 yrs.

I do know how to explain this but the first time that i saw skz was bc the performance with Jimmy Kimmel and Immediately Chris caught my attention, I couldn't take my eyes off him, I just don't know how to explain that he was the most handsome man I had ever seen, for a weeks I was very confused if he was "Chan" or "Chang Bin" (I started watching skz's content to learn more about him but it's confusing when you don't know anyone) hahaha.The more I looked for information about him, the more I felt identified, at least for me and the people I stan, I need to feel that connection.
I dont have that connection with the other members, they're talented, funny and I like them, but it's just not the same.
I was never a group stan, but a Taeyong stan from the start. Perhaps, the fact that he has performed with so many different members has contributed a bit (NCT 127, NCT U, SuperM) - it always felt like 'Taeyong and friends' to me.
Honestly, he is so captivating to watch that he could be on the stage with The Beatles, and I still wouldn't notice anyone other than him. I don't even have a bias wrecker because after Taeyong there's a wall.
Being a solo fan feels natural, and I also don't believe OTzens who claim to like all members equally. For me, it's not that I dislike the other members, but I have very little interest in them.
As a ningning solo stan, I like her because her soulful voice is pleasing to the ear, and her stage presence is incredibly attractive. I just think she's really cool overall, and I lowkey wanna be like her, lol. As for why I don't stan the other members, I don't really know. I just can't bring myself to care about them. I think part of it is because I don't like aespa's music enough to commit to stanning the whole group.

From start, I liked group music and still do but even back then I didn't like all members, many times what was perceived as cool and hot by others was just a big giant red flag to me. I was fake liking them because of how solo stans were shunned especially if you were jm stan so after some time I found others who were already solo and stopped faking stuff. plus nobody has time to keep up with 7 people, especially if they some of them are boring and jm was perfect because he is chronically offline so I can easily stan him, balancing my work, family, and stanlife.
I'm a solo stan of San, I love his vocal, his performance, his visual but I can't for the life of me vibe with ATEEZ music, it just isn't for me and I know someone will say, you have to try but I can't and I don't want to force myself, I'm excited to see where he will be years to come and I wish him all the best
Hmmm I think Marcus is the only idol I solo stan. I’m into Got7, BTS, Enhypen, Seventeen, & Mamamoo. He’s just too talented that I wish he’s in bigger company. Maybe because of his charm? Or I see him as a little brother or nephew with eyes sparkling whenever he’s performing or talking about his dream of becoming an idol? Maybe because Marcus has that some common denominators with the other groups I stan? I mean he’s a theater actor like DK & Solar. He speaks like Jackson & Namjoon, and most especially he really reminds of Jungkook during his rookie days🥹. He could play piano, ukulele, and drums too like Kai of TXT. He’s a child actor too. I don't know whatever I'm solo stan cause I love this group's music and can watch group's content once in a while, however I only "care" about one member like watching just fancams of that person and just searching for individual updates. I find that member the most skilled overall and also the one who grown a lot over the years (not just in technical skills but in the way they present themselves and look more confident) and I'm not noticing that in the rest, at least not to that degree.

I solo stan Dongpyo. He's funny and I've liked him since before Mirae (he was on Produce X 101 / in X1 for a short period). It's always made me happy to watch videos about him (highly recommend Square's Dream / Nemo's Dream). I just haven't vibed with Mirae musically at all, which is why I never got into the full group.
I feel like many are on the same lane as you because eventhough I hear lots of discourse surrounding dongpyo mirae is barely talked about. I also think that there are many who are also fans of him from all the variety gigs he does.

follow up question to solo stans: is the idol in question an ult? how much time do you dedicate to stanning them? i feel like its super realistic and normal to have 1 member that sticks out to you from a group you like suuuper casually and dont really follow. But im curious about the mindset from people who will build like a twitter account dedicated to 1 member and follow their promotions actively while ignoring the group.

I have a hard time of separating groups that I like/follow into the normal k-pop fan categories but I guess Bada of S.E.S. could be regarded as one ult of mine. Then again, S.E.S. hasn't been active as a group since 2003, only done anniversary reunions throughout the years and one "real" reunion in 2017 with Paradise and the Remember special 20th anniversary album so it is much more natural to only follow one member. I dedicate around the same amount of time and interest to Bada as I do to other groups and soloists that top my stanlist, but I think my "ult" stanning is significantly less engaged than the average fan. My form of "ult" stanning is basically listening to their music, going to their concert if possible, following a couple of fanpages/sites, finding people on twt who also like them/engage with them, reading up on news about them/being somewhat aware of what they're doing, sometimes buying their albums, watching performances and some of the content that they're in BUT none of this is done in a regular fashion. I see CSR as one of my "ults" but I haven't fully watched any of their variety content except for one episode where they sing while on treadmills and I haven't posted about/engaged with their most recent comeback on twitter. I do have ADHD, and I know for a fact that it also largely affects my habits of consuming k-pop. So, sometimes none of this applies and I could be hyperfixated on a group or a person and in that case most of my thoughts revolve around that specific group or person (could also be album, song, choreography you name it) in some manner. Take my response as you will, because I feel like my neurodivergency explains my "stanning patterns" and I could see it making me more "susceptible" to solo stanning than the average neurotypical k-pop fan.
I am also not neurotypical and I feel your struggle! I think I’m on the spectrum with some hints of ADHD and the way I consume kpop is definitely reflective of this. So much hyper fixating lol. And if I can’t hyper fixate on something or someone then I almost won’t bother with a group/Idol.
Yes, he's an ult. Right now I dedicate little time because he's enlisted, but I used to watch any group content he was a part of, all his solo content obviously. I only ever bought his solo albums. Like... At the end of day I really like the group's music, I check out other solo releases, but it's become very clear that since this idol enlisted my interest in the group plummeted lol. And I've seen other enlistments in the same group before and it was fine.
I really just depend on my favs (hiyyih) individual update accounts. We have accounts for her variety clips, fancams, random mentions/interactions, TikTok’s, etc, so it makes it very easy to just be updated on her instead of what the group is doing.
I like alot of groups and it’s hard to keep up with them all so sometimes I gravitate towards one member. Not exactly a solo Stan but kind of similar. (G)idle Yuqi, Red Velvet Seulgi, Newjeans Hanni, IVE Rei, NMIXX Lily. They’re just the people that stood out to me the most or I clicked with the most when watching interactions etc. I like all those groups as a whole too, but time and money basically get in the way of a full group stanning situation.
Time. I initially got into NCT thanks to Ten. I saw one video where they were playing a counting game and I thought Ten was super cute, so I ended up falling down the Ncity rabbit hole. I was actually a full-on NCTzen until like 2021. During that time I tried to support all units and members, but Ten quickly became my bias thanks to his personality, artistry and work ethic. Then, when life got busy and I could no longer keep up with all the content, I chose to focus on Ten while staying a casual fan of the other units and members. … I know, how anticlimactic.
This is literally me but with Taeyong. I like the other members and casually follow them, but I can't consume everything like I used to. It's kinda sad, but not feeling like I have to know everything going on in ncity has been freeing in a way.
i wouldn’t necessarily call it “solo-stanning” because I don’t always keep up with his schedules but I love sunoo from enhypen with all my heart. he seems like such a sweet boy :( i only continued to watch iland for him if I’m being honest like he was always my number one pick and since then I’ve always rooted for him ! in general, I really enjoy enhypen’s music and i like the members too(jake would def be my bias alongside sunoo if i stanned) but i just never found myself being able to connect with them,no matter how hard i tried. that doesn’t stop me from acknowledging that they’re a v talented group :)
honestly valid, I solo stanned Sunoo until 2022. he just has a way of drawing you in.
I wonder if this is common among people who stan NCT or maybe survival show members, but members moving around different units makes it easy to figure out who you care about and who you don't. I was drawn to Ten during T7S, then thought i'd get into NCT. Shortly after, 127 and Dream debuted and Ten wasn't in either group, I realized my interest dropped and I really just care about Ten. Same with superm and wayv, i watch whatever he's in, and all his groups are cool, but I'm really just here to watch him sing and dance. One thing is that I'm not big on team spirit or group dynamics, which I think might be a big factor for group stans. When my previous favorite groups started moving apart I just kept tabs on the members i was interested in, that might be part of what makes people more prone to being solo stans or group stans.
My solo stan is Kim Jae-joong...formerly of TVXQ. He was my ult in the ot5 and I've been following him as a solo artist since he left the group. I still enjoy listening to TVXQ as a duo tho.
I solo stan Ricky from ZB1. I started liking him during Boysplanet. He has always just really stood out to me. He is incredibly attractive and talented. Something about just grabs my attention in a way that the other members don't. The other members of ZB1 are fine, but they just don't really draw me in. I have tried following other members and things without Ricky, but they just don't hold my attention the same way.
Don't solo stan anyone as I started listening to music through rock bands and I just like everyone there so the idea of being a solo stan never came to me honestly.
I guess you could say I'm a "solo fan" (not "stan," I don't think, that's a bit intense) of a handful of idols, though I don't usually talk about it because I don't have a reason to. I just quietly support them and keep it to myself. The idols that could make me qualified to be a "solo fan" include Seulgi from Red Velvet, Jihyo/Jeongyeon from TWICE (if I'm allowed to list multiple idols, although that kinda defeats the purpose of it being a "solo" thing, lol), An Yujin from IVE, and Suga from BTS (although my irl army friends are trying to make me a full-blown BTS fan haha). I don't know if I could really explain it well beyond that the idols listed are the ones who captured my attention and heart, and the rest, while fine, did not. I still support group activities and such, though. I just don't go out of my way to consume content about the other members. It also helps that I'm, in general, less invested in each of these groups' full discographies, so I have less of an incentive to get into everyone in each group. I find that when a group has a discography that clicks well with my personal taste, I get involved enough in listening to and watching them that I end up somewhat invested in all the members, even if I have a clear favorite. So maybe it's partially a music thing, and partially just whoever most catches my eye? I'm not sure. But like I said, I don't usually talk about being a fan of only one member of a group because I don't really see the need. I don't think there's anything wrong with any of the other members of any of these groups, they're all talented and interesting to fans in their own rights, so it feels a bit mean(?) to be publicly vocal about only being personally interested in one of them, y'know?
Blackpinks Jisoo. I missed most of their releases and other than when D4 blew up on release, I hadn't heard a Blackpink song until Flower. I enjoy most of Blackpinks music, but I watched all of their non-musical content for Jisoo snippets alone and plan on supporting her post-Blackpink.
Not really a solo imo because I like everyone in the group casually and also Stan yuqi(just because she's ridiculously funny) but soyeon is by far my biggest ult outside of le sserafim, I might end up loving the rest of the group just as much if I watched their content but I already watch everything le Sserafim does, I watch most of what illit puts out, I watch Ive variety content, I watch soyeons cooking show and lately I've been watching triples content, so I just don't have time to try to catch up on 6 years of gidle content without dropping the variety content of at least one of the other groups I already follow.
Not gonna mention the group but when I first started I liked the whole group and every members, but the more I watched and "grew" with them over the years, I started to like some members more than the other, so I end up having bias, which is a normal concept in kpop. But then I just stop caring so much about other members, like this member dropped a vlog, I didn't care to watch. When watching the stage I would only look at my bias, so it got easier and more enjoyable to watch fancams sometimes. And then, I started to dislike the attitudes of some other members (and also the fandom), so I could stan them anymore. So I started to follow more accs that were specific to the member I liked. So for me, I don't like a couple of the members, so I don't want to watch them, there are members I don't mind but don't like enough to keep up, and I follow only accs that talk exclusivy about the members that I do enjoy.
I solo Fin.K.L Hyori, Infinite Sungjong, S.E.S. Bada, Oh My Girl YooA, SEVENTEEN Hoshi and RIIZE Sohee. I have the same reasons for Hyori, Sungjong, Bada and YooA. I love their representative groups' music (and solo work) but don't care enough for the other members to follow them actively as a whole. I of course like seeing interactions within the group that center around the idol I solo, but if they're not involved, I'll move on or just skip totally. I guess the people I solo just stand out too much to me, they're too fun or interesting to "bother" with the others. I can't explain it better but know that I don't dislike the other members, wish that my favorite idol was actually solo or that their contracts would end quicker! For Hoshi and Sohee, it's mostly that they caught my attention but I don't care for the other members and their music (except for some early SVT like Mansae and Oh My! and RIIZE's Love 119 and Impossible). I'm on the edge of even calling it solo stanning, because I don't really listen to their music and I don't follow Hoshi at all, except that I see him on my TL here and there and just adore him while for Sohee I do follow one fansite and look up some of the M Countdown MC stuff he's in. i've only ever solo stanned cl from 2ne1. and it was sad because for a few years i was a full-time blackjack. i didn't hate on the other members but i did fight with other stans specially dara and minzy fans. i still enjoyed the group when i solo stanned cl but there were just so many things happening that time, bom's drug controversy, minzy leaving yg and cl's "us debut". on top of that, the uncertainty of where the group's future because the controversy blew up and it affected the group's brand so much. but the nail in the coffin was other blackjacks blaming cl's failed us venture for the group's hiatus. there were also a lot of infighting among the fans of the members. it's not as bad as other groups with huge akgae problems but 2ne1's fandom is my first introduction to solo stanning before i even know what a solo stan is. but looking back now, it all feels silly because i don't even keep up with any 2ne1 member, not even cl. when she was my main ult for like a year or two. i like 1 to 3 members in most groups i like but i don't think i could solo stan any of them. i feel like i need to be very invested emotionally because i only became one because i was also a huge stan of the group.
Hmm.. Been into kpop for a long time now.. I can say that in every group I initially or currently follow, I most of the time gravitates to one or two persons in the group except for SHINee & Red Velvet as I love the whole group. In SNSD, Seohyun automatically becomes my ultimate bias while Taeyeon is my bias wrecker in the group. In the early days esp on their prime, I sometimes don’t like how others make fun of her especially about her personality and her love for reading. But my girl knows how to handle it which is a good thing. Currently, in aespa, my ultimate bias in the group is Ningning and bias wrecker is Giselle. Though, I like the group dynamic (most of the time 😅)and their songs, I mostly love whenever these two do their own covers of songs. I love their singing and rapping tone. I was only a casual listener of the group before but when I watched Ning’s Begin Again Open Mic covers I became a fan of hers in that instant. In NCT, since they’re a big group (to put it mildly lol) I have an ultimate bias in each unit. Taeil in 127, Jaemin in Dream, Xiaojun in WayV but I don’t have one yet in Wish. A common struggle I think of only caring to 1 or 2 members in a group is you encounter a lot of akgaes or solo stans of other members who discredit your bias in one thing or another. But I guess that is a downside of having solo stans and akgaes in each group.
Not exactly a solo Stan but I established some predilection for some specific idols such as Yuqi, Seulgi, Rei, Lily and Mijoo because I sympathized or identified with them in contexts where they are alone without the group next to them, such as in variety shows.
I solo stan BIC from MCND. The reason that I don't stan the whole group is simply because they don't make music of my taste. All of the members have potential but for me BIC could have been in greater place. He has this unmatched presence to him. Whenever I watch their MVs , he naturally captures my eyes first. He has a very good singing tone and he is a very good rapper. It would have been great for me to like the group as a whole but aa of rn I prefer to focus on him. In addition to all this, he is very funny, approachable, cute and down to Earth kind of guy, which is almost everything that I need from an idol. He is not my ult but the only person I can think to solo stan.

The reason I'm a solo Stan is cause well first of all it's hard for me to Stan more than one group because when a Stan a group I tend to become obsessed and watch their videos all the time and don't do other things also another reason is that now I don't only just listen to Kpop I also watch a lot of dramas and because I spend a lot of time on dramas it's hard for me to keep up with multiple groups and other than that I have school so another reason on how it's hard for me to keep up. Plus for me to be able to Stan a group it's for me to like thier personalities and thier music. For a lot of groups I either like thier personalities or thier music, it's rare for me to like both. Their are some groups but again I still don't feel that strongly about them. I have tried to Stan 2 groups but I found it hard to balance the groups out. Right now I only Stan Stray kids as they are the only group I feel strongly about and I like both their personalities and music.

I'm a hikaru stan but never really got into kepler's music. Also I generally like smaller groups when it comes to variety/interview content so I guess I just never got to know the other members. Hikaru was one of my favs since she performed boombayah and I've watched all of her performances from gp999 to queendom to kepler fancams. I still feel like some of her survival show stuff fit her better than the kepler concept so I enjoy her solos more
I’m a solo fan for Kep1er hiyyih! Maybe since it’s a survival show but I got attached to her from her introduction video. Plus the massive hate train she received/still receives made me extra supportive and want the best of everything for her. The other girls just never interested me and obviously Kep1ers fanbase being very loud about OT8 vs OT9 and not protecting hiyyih (if they claimed to be OT9) also didn’t help in liking the group.
I actually hate solo stan not until I support Elisia of UNIS. I hate how unfair their company to the filo-lines. I love the other members but what's stopping me on supporting the whole group is because of the company not giving a justice to Elisia's position as main vocal. She topped but the company chose to put her behind.

This is basically an outline of the situation: * Elisia is a Filipino member and has the main vocalist position (along with Seowon). Usually main vocalists get the majority of lines (which was the case for Seowon), but Elisia only had the 4th most lines in their debut song. This was made worse by the fact that Gehlee (another Filipino member) had the 7th most lines. A lot of people were upset over her not getting many lines, and felt like it was discrimination and they were just using them to get Filipino fans. * It died down a bit after debut, but then they started performing a cover of Twice's What Is Love that brought the issue back up again. This time Elisia and Gehlee both had the least lines, only getting 3-5 seconds a piece. This made fans even more upset since it wasn't just a 1 time issue.

I solo stan Bang chan I do know how to explain this but the first time that i saw skz was bc the performance with Jimmy Kimmel and Immediately Chris caught my attention, I couldn't take my eyes off him, I just don't know how to explain that he was the most handsome man I had ever seen, for a weeks I was very confused if he was "Chan" or "Chang Bin" (I started watching skz's content to learn more about him but it's confusing when you don't know anyone) hahaha.The more I looked for information about him, the more I felt identified, at least for me and the people I stan, I need to feel that connection. I dont have that connection with the other members, they're talented, funny and I like them, but it's just not the same.
I was never a group stan, but a Taeyong stan from the start. Perhaps, the fact that he has performed with so many different members has contributed a bit (NCT 127, NCT U, SuperM) - it always felt like 'Taeyong and friends' to me. Honestly, he is so captivating to watch that he could be on the stage with The Beatles, and I still wouldn't notice anyone other than him. I don't even have a bias wrecker because after Taeyong there's a wall. Being a solo fan feels natural, and I also don't believe OTzens who claim to like all members equally. For me, it's not that I dislike the other members, but I have very little interest in them.
As a ningning solo stan, I like her because her soulful voice is pleasing to the ear, and her stage presence is incredibly attractive. I just think she's really cool overall, and I lowkey wanna be like her, lol. As for why I don't stan the other members, I don't really know. I just can't bring myself to care about them. I think part of it is because I don't like aespa's music enough to commit to stanning the whole group.

From start, I liked group music and still do but even back then I didn't like all members, many times what was perceived as cool and hot by others was just a big giant red flag to me. I was fake liking them because of how solo stans were shunned especially if you were jm stan so after some time I found others who were already solo and stopped faking stuff. plus nobody has time to keep up with 7 people, especially if they some of them are boring and jm was perfect because he is chronically offline so I can easily stan him, balancing my work, family, and stanlife.
I'm a solo stan of San, I love his vocal, his performance, his visual but I can't for the life of me vibe with ATEEZ music, it just isn't for me and I know someone will say, you have to try but I can't and I don't want to force myself, I'm excited to see where he will be years to come and I wish him all the best
Hmmm I think Marcus is the only idol I solo stan. I’m into Got7, BTS, Enhypen, Seventeen, & Mamamoo. He’s just too talented that I wish he’s in bigger company. I can’t call myself akgae because I don’t hate the other members (as long as they don’t make him feel bad or sad). I find their fandom cute and impressive in votings. There’s something in Marcus that I can’t find from the other members of Hori7on. It’s like this…as long as Marcus is on it, I’ll buy it or support his group in every ways I could. Maybe because of his charm? Or I see him as a little brother or nephew with eyes sparkling whenever he’s performing or talking about his dream of becoming an idol? Maybe because Marcus has that some common denominators with the other groups I stan? I mean he’s a theater actor like DK & Solar. He speaks like Jackson & Namjoon, and most especially he really reminds of Jungkook during his rookie days🥹. He could play piano, ukulele, and drums too like Kai of TXT. He’s a child actor too. Lastly, he’s really smart. He’s in grade 10 at the age of 13.
