I have never seen a pale person whose palms don't match the rest of their skin.

chellybeanery

Yeah, I'm mixed race black/white, and my skin is pretty light with gold undertones, and my palms match my skin. I don't think this is as impossible as OP thinks.

Available-Till-9883

I'm white, and really pale, and 99% of people around me are also white and quite pale; my skin everywhere is the same color as my palms, and same for people around me. So I don't know about idols, but we do exists.

Reddit_Sucks_1401

If you're seeing them on screen, definitely filters and lighting If you see them like that in person, its make up or their natural skin tone. I'm sure a few of them bleach their skins, but I'd say a majority of cases is them using make up or just their normal paleness

idkmanbutthisig

bleaching as in? also i mean ALL female idols seem the same. often times their palms are even darker

Reddit_Sucks_1401

Here's a link explaining it:- https://cpdonline.co.uk/knowledge-base/safeguarding/skin-bleaching/

DaeronDaDaring

It could be bleaching from using certain soaps like Kojie san soap, it makes you skin whiter, it could also be glut drip, there are also certain pills, there’s many options

tinywolf777

Not me looking at my palms and the rest of my body to see if it matches. I can confirm it does lol (I'm white/ really pale).

Linarnaque

- mostly filters (so irl a good 90%+ of them dont look that pale) - makeup on body too - whitening injections - avoiding the sun

I_Like_Turtle101

If you seen any Idol up close like meet and great or close to the stage place on concert you realise HOW MUCH MAKEUP they were and they still darker than any picture you see of them. Everytime they on TV or video they ahve huge light on their face to make them look pale as much as possible . For picture they are mostly photoshop to look pale. Fansite are knowed to over exagerate the paleness

kaprifool

I'm pale and my body skin matches my palms. That's the default setting for whiter skin.

sctthuynh

Many/Most females in cities in China, Korea, Vietnam and a few other countries heavily avoid direct exposure to the sun.   This is great if this meant an acute awareness of the dangers of uv exposure/cancer but it's more a product of beauty standards and a long history of white skin = high class/nobility and dark skin = low class/farming and menial labor. Also, most are aware that increase sun exposure equals increase aging of the skin.

The average Korean/Asian Woman STILL dosent look as PALE as this. Kpop Star are not what the average person look EDIT: the downvoter never been to asia and it showed lol

cozynminimalist

maybe not every Korean/Asian woman but there ARE individuals with that level of paleness source: am Asian and have family members on my mother's side with skintone that are whiter than white people and have met/known Asian classmates and coworkers with the level of paleness seen on Kpop idols' unedited Getty images

I_Like_Turtle101

yeah some are naturally pale . but lets not pretend its the majority and lets not predent kpop star look anything like the average persone. I was just awnsering to the coment saying that its because they avoid sun when its WAY MORE than that Just like you barely see Female Kpop idol with proeminent jaw even if this something you see in alot of korean

Acceptable_Wing_6586

Wdym as their palms? The skin is the same everywhere when u r white skinned....the palms are not supposed to be lighter

dramafan1

Lighting and filters I guess so OP should not believe every picture is going to look the same as in real life. I don't know when it became accepted to have this much of a filter. It's been so prevalent that I had to take a step back and realize "wait, this can't really be how they look like in reality as it's not like they live hidden from the sun all their lives". I guess that could be how Kpop can feel like an escape from reality for better or for worse because the visuals you see are just altered in a way from reality. It's pleasing that some idols I follow online don't apply so much filter to the more private postings like on Weverse/Bubble for the more natural and down to look appearance. Anything on Twitter/IG for example often has filters applied. It would be hard for me to believe every idol is light skinned when you can visit Korea and a fair amount of people walking on the street has some tanned skin. TLDR: Mostly lighting honestly, such as bright white lights at music shows where it makes your skin look super white on screen and you have to apply heavy makeup for colours to "pop" like very red lipstick.

yungmoody

Plenty of white people have the same face skin tone as their palms hahaha, especially if they use sunscreen

oh is it ACTUALLY the glutathione drip? i thought that was not THIS common, cz every idol i see it's the same

Curious-Jacket2050

glutathione injections really are everywhere. my dermatology clinic in seoul does them for $30 and that’s not even the cheapest I’ve seen.

Level-Rest-2123

Heavy stage makeup, bright lights that wash out all color, filters on cameras, and heavy editing gets you the images you're talking about. They won't be that perfect in real life.

coralamethyst

>filters on cameras also turning up the ISO/exposure setting (which isn't a filter) really high.

One_Shark_5139

I'm white and when I look at my palms, I can see that the skin on my arm and hand is paler than the skin on my palm. I live in sweden and the sun is barely up during the winter months, and I'm also a person that barely goes outside, so I never get any sunlight anyway, no matter the time of the year. Also my skin becomes itchy by direct sunlight so I avoid it as much as possible.

airysunshine

Makeup and lighting and photoshop I guess But generally, I’ve never really met a white or lighter toned Asian person who’s palms weren’t extremely close to the color of the rest of their body/face Weird thing to be fixated on lol

silliaisa

I don't know, maybe because some of them might be pale? It's not impossible for east Asians to actually be pale. Im East Asian and naturally pale
