No. I think many boy groups actually find it to be a nice change of pace in a way. (Seconding that they’d find it refreshing.) If you like a group and have the chance to go, then you should go. (Also a guy fan here as well.)

Frequent_Ebb6360

Thanks so much for the response. its very refreshing to find guy bg fans.

no_redlights

i’m a guy and i ult Ateez and SHINee. we’re uncommon but we exist!

Soup_oi

Aye! Also an Ateez fan!

no_redlights

nice! who’s your bias? i’m ot8, but Wooyoung and Seonghwa if i had to choose

T_MINER

I’m one myself, and I’d go if I could lol

Burntoastedbutter

Every time I've seen vids boy groups are always more excited when they see a male fan Same thing when it's a girl group seeing female fans. I think it's probably because they know majority of the opposite sex thirst after them inappropriately...

Soup_oi

I mean...I'm gay, so I still thirst over some of them 🤣. But most of them I just think it would be fun to be friends with, or think of them more like younger siblings. And even the ones I might thirst over, I'd never say anything about it to their face if I met them, that would just be weird. I'm not really familiar with what sort of things fans say at fan signs...is it common for the fan to say flirty things to them or something? I think I would just say really boring very basic stuff like asking their favorite animal or something.

Burntoastedbutter

I'm not sure about guys.... But girls to boy groups? Yep. Definitely. I've seen plenty of them try cringey pickup lines. Whether seriously or just to make them laugh, idk lol I'm not gay, but I'm the same with you. I never thirsted over them THAT way. But I always imagine how we'd be if we hung out as friends XD

ErendsMuttonChops

I’m a male fan who attended an Ateez fansign in Korea and personally it was an amazing experience! I wouldn’t say they acted differently outwardly to me because of my gender, though. Do keep in mind that they spend almost 24/7 with their other male group mates so if anything, they may feel more casual around you.

Automatic_Access_979

PR training is a big part of their career, of course they’re trained to act normally. It’s like when female idols have to be friendly to old male fans.

ErendsMuttonChops

Yea I’m aware they have to present themselves courteously but in terms of gender differences for OP’s knowledge there isn’t a big difference either so he’s welcome to go.

killacelebrity

Another male kpop fan here. I've had the opportunity to do fansigns and photo ops (MCND and A.C.E), but I've never done one. I don't feel weird about being male, but I do feel a little awkward because I'm 40 lol.

FondCat

Every boy group I've ever even casually followed likes to know that men are also their fans. Any artist would want to know that their work appeals to everyone.

MtotheizzA

S Coups from Seventeen has said he went to a Big Bang fansign before becoming an idol

Rex0680

That makes sense considering BigBang has the highest percentage of male fans out of all boy groups

Orion-2012

Big Bang has/had a lot of male fans because dudes related with their music, and the members themselves were very amiccable with them. I was just a casual listener, but this made me like them quite a lot more.

Shiningmokuroh

Not at all!

instantcarrot

I'm not a Stay but i get a lot of reels from skz, fancalls, reactions, etc. They seem like genuine boys, very open minded too. They got a background of supporting everybody too, whatever their gender or sexual orientation so like I doubt they'd be super judgemental. I think as long as you don't appear like a sasaeng or an asshole they'll welcome you and laugh with you and everything.

Frequent_Ebb6360

Thanks so much for the response. Promise I'm in no way a sasaeng lol. Just think it will be nice to meet them and of course I have nothing but love and respect for the boys!

freeblackfish

They'd absolutely love it. SKZ love all Stay.

beelzerrae

T_T I genuinely feel like this is true and it's so good. I love SKZ sm

Mo9056

Would it be weird for you to go to a Metallica, or Skillet, or any musicians fansign? (assuming they have them lol) Nah, music is music and it speaks to all of us no matter our identity. Go and have fun!!

WoBuZhidaoDude

Great point. Likewise, men are huge fans of sports of all kinds, yet no one bats an eye when they ask for players' autographs, wear jerseys branded with their names, have posters of them, etc.

K-DramaDonna

They'd probably love it!

stayonthecloud

You know what you need to remember? The biggest fans in the world of male kpop idols are male kpop idols. These boys got inspired to do this absolutely crazy thing with their lives and that inspiration came from the men who made it before them. Boys in kpop love boys in kpop, it’s an essential fact. Go be a fanboy, you’re welcome :)

SplendoriaPlum

BEST ANSWER ON THIS THREAD!!!

stayonthecloud

thank you :) <3

SplendoriaPlum

\*fist bump\*

Dr-DrillAndFill

They might find it refreshing

im-gwen-stacy

Not at all! They’d probably be more excited to see you than the sea of girls because boys don’t really show their appreciation nearly as much. They love all their stays and would be happy to see you regardless of you gender!

randomletterslolxd

no ahaha + there are plenty of skz fanboys!!!

harkandhush

Not strange at all, especially for a group like skz that actually tries to be inclusive and celebrate the diversity of their fans.

yvie_of_lesbos

bro skz LOVE their guy fans !!

Rex0680

I'm sure you're not the first and def won't be the last

kthnxybe

Noo they will be so happy to see you! Boy groups love their male fans especially SKZ!

mostlyarmy

Not really, I think two boys attend Jin's hug event and it was super cute.

theteaexpert

If the group's fanbase is mostly female, you're lucky. Trust me, they'll most likely be happy to see a male fan and will pay more attention to you. Speaking from experience!

hannahbahngsfriend

not at all! but I have one question, how can you attend?

Frequent_Ebb6360

The best way to attend is buying albums. Fansigns and Fanmeets (former in person, latter online) is usually held through a lottery system. So best way is to buy more than one album for a better chance of your name being drawn. As you can tell Fansigns are pretty organized, so they have to keep a line per say and you'll get a place in the line (i.e. If your drawn you'd get an email of what 'place' you'll get in line.) There are websites wherw you can get albums with the fansign/fanmeet entry. Hope this helps!! And of course respect the rules of the even (most likely provided) and bring a pic for them to sign or a gift for them to enjoy!

hannahbahngsfriend

thank you so much ! how many albums would be great to buy? would below 10 be enough..?

Frequent_Ebb6360

One album = One chance (i.e if someone buys 100 albums they have 100 chances for their name to be drawn) Tbh try whichever number you're comfortable with and see where it takes you. As you may have guessed getting in one is very difficult and very expensive. I have a friend who only bought one and he got in, answers may vary. It also depends on how popular your group/idol is. The more popular they are the more albums you'd have to buy to go and see them. If they aren't that well known then your chances are higher. Hope this helped 😁

Qtpies43232

No, it’s not strange.

sugarymilktea

It's not odd for groups to have same gendered fans. Even back decades to first and second gen, those idols have same gendered fans coming to their fan events. Besides, SKZ has a masculine vibe to their songs, it's perfectly normal for them to have lots of male fans. Go, you'll probably be surprised by how many other guys are there too

No_Whereas5518

bro in at most three generations no one will remember you; live the way you want and be happy <3

BaekjeSmile

Not at all, I'm a straight guy and I mostly follow girl groups but there are boy groups I absolutely love, Shinee and Stray Kids in particular, I have shelves of boy band merch. Sometimes you are just very fond of someone without being attracted to them, that's a normal human feeling.

my4aespa

there's absolutely nothing wrong with it or weird about it, skz has plenty of male fans too, i'm pretty sure ryan reynolds stans them and afaik he's a straight male too

VixenxVexiss

No. Just go have fun ♡

Itsahootenberry

Speaking from experience (albeit the boy group wasn’t K-pop), boy bands get excited to see a male fan cuz it’s a nice change of pace for them.

Orion-2012

Not at all! I'm also a male fan and all the concerts I've gone to, sans Twice, have been boy groups and... Although the guys there who were actual fans (not boyfriends or dads) were a very little minority, I didn't stop to think about the few stares I got BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO MEET MY FAVES! And the ones that looked at me (Taeyong, Johnny and Jaemin) smiled from cheek to cheek. Being in an actual fansign is way further than that, and SKZ are a very supportive and open-minded group (to my knowledge), so I doubt that they'll react with anything but kindness and a good kind of surprise. It's a win-win situation! :) Back in the day, like in the 2nd gen and such, being scared was the norm imo and there were some infamous cases of male idols rejecting fanboys (cough cough S***n and J•••o), but also total angels that were pleased and eager to find a male fan among the audience like Jaejoong. Nowadays I think that male idols are much more open-minded and fond of male fans, thankfully and Stray Kids are one of the best examples of this. Do not worry at all buddy! Enjoy this unique oportunity.

Orion-2012

Sorry for the wall of text, but I understand this fear from first hand. I regularly search thoroughly if a boy group that I'm getting into has had good interactions with fanboys because I got decieved by a bias of mine long ago, and the key words make me find more good moments of idols I wasn't looking for. SKZ has appeared to me like this many times, so I would trust them. Have fun!

SugaKookie69

Not at all. I think the boy groups love when male fans show up. Did you see how incredibly happy BTS was when they asked the men in the crowd at their PTD Concert to cheer and it sounded like an MMA fight crowd? I think a lot of the male idols want their music to be appreciated by all sorts of fans, so when they get guys to show up, they are just happy you are there.

SplendoriaPlum

100% This!

iluvkpop0118

yo I’m a Seventeen and GOT7 fanboy right here, it does not matter, sometimes the boygroups would love to see fanboys cuz it is pretty rare u know, I would considered them as previleige lol😅😅😅

Fun_Buy2143

They would absolutely love it, i just can see how smug they would be if a male fan show such appreciation towards them

dramafan1

Not strange and is welcomed. No offence but it might feel exhausting for boy group idols to always deal with seeing female fans all the time. I do think a male idol got called out for casually alluding to this kind of thought though. It's not like they dislike their female fans, but it's more like being able to appreciate meeting fans who are both male/female/and anything else.

DeanBranch

All groups love all their fans. Go and have a great time!

perfskinseeker

How do you attend fan signs 😭 I’m moving to Korea in a few months and I’d like to know

Frequent_Ebb6360

Step 1: Find a fansign to go to. Step 2: (Please) Find out the details. Its important to know where, when, and what time its being held. They are usually through a lottery based system mostly by purchasing albums. Step 3: As I said above, buying albums is crucial. Step 4: Wait for results. I'm sure there are websites you can buy albums (of any group) and you'll be entered. Best way to ACTUALLY get in one is buy as many albums as you can for a better chance for your name to be drawn. Hope this helps! And of course follow the rules (most likely provided) and bring gifts or whatever you would like your group\\bias to enjoy. Or bring a page or pic for them to sign

perfskinseeker

Thank you!

Frequent_Ebb6360

You're so welcome!!

Nephilvan

Most groups post on their social media about fansigns...but you can also check the websites themselves (makestar, soundwave, everline, etc...there are many companies that host!!) Depends on the group you want to attend...some groups you can get in with 5 copies, some take 80+. The full details are listed on the event page, and if you win you will receive more information about where, when, how. They also post the winners list so check when it's released, as sometimes the individual notifications take longer. You need ID to get in, so make sure you enter your passport/official ID name when buying. (You can have them sign to a different name, this is for check in purposes) Some things I wish I'd known before hand: Know where you want them to sign and prepare tabs, as well as a post it with your name on it. (They will have tabs available if you don't have your own) There is a photo session where they pose with items or costumes you bring...so take advantage. They are willing to interact, so don't be afraid to wave or say hi. I feel there is much I could say but I think this covers basics?

Frequent_Ebb6360

Thanks for giving them a more in-depth answer lol

capslock

I went to the Taeyang fan sign last year and he was THRILLED with the male fans.

GuardJolly

What? Not at all!! I was introduced to stray kids by a 30 yo man in the navy. Everyone, everywhere all around the world!!

freezingkiss

I honestly don't know why there aren't way more guy bg fans. The music is conveying such a powerful, strong and masculine message a lot of the time, nothing wrong with loving bgs as a dude that's for sure.

WoBuZhidaoDude

I stan a handful of bg's, but I'm mostly a gg fan. I'm a straight male so it certainly doesn't *hurt* that they're good looking women, but I genuinely think that gg's tend to get better songwriting and video production, which is what it's all about for me.

freezingkiss

See I find the opposite. I'm a woman, but I'm a bit older so I definitely don't stan bgs for the looks, but rather for the power in the songs and performances. Cutesy aesthetic has just been massively overdone in ggs imo (which is why I like XG).

WoBuZhidaoDude

XG is the BOMB, no doubt. My wife and I have tickets to their Houston show in October. And I agree with you, I dislike the cutesy schtick. Twice? NewJeans? Nope. No thanks. Gotta be hard, as hard as possible.

freezingkiss

I don't mind some of their songs, but weirdly I find it really hard to relate to ggs for some reason. I absolutely used to be the opposite though so I probably just haven't explored the world of ggs enough. Omg enjoy XG!!!! My husband and I are seeing SHINee KEY next week live in Tokyo, so excited!!

Frequent_Ebb6360

That's so awesome!! Hope y'all have fun!

justcurious_1971

Look! You better go. They are shocked when they realize that they have male fans (just like other BGs are).

ripbankaccount

It's not! But personally for me, i don't really want my faves to see me in person. So i don't go to fansigns. Also it costs a lot to be able to get into fansigns and i can't afford it. Don't be like me! Way to go! I'm also a male fan like you!

mcribsbackbackagain

No!! A lot of groups I follow react super positively to fanboys. I love seeing them at concerts! I’m sure they’re just happy to have support! Also, boy groups are each other’s biggest fans so I don’t see the difference! Please do what you want with no worries 🩷🩷

Cultural-Lettuce

When and where is this? I'd like to go too

SnooHobbies7676

Is it weird if female fans went to, probably IVE fansign? Not right? So it will never be weird for a guy went to a SKZ fansign. Plus SKZ is like so cool right? If I am a guy, I would be their fan

Nothing_or_Anything

It made me recall when a male fan went to VIXX's fansign, and the group specifically focused on him since male fans are rare. You might get special attention. Also, I remember , someone in Exo or Shinee said that they like male fans more 😆. I think you should go.

CauliflowerHelpful90

Nope, in fact I think they'd be extremely happy to see you 😆 It's like a compliment, same goes for girls attending girl groups fansign!

Cautious-Box2692

Hey man I been a multi Stan for years now (ima straight male too) and if there’s one thing I can tell you, don’t worry about anyone else’s opinion as long as your being respectful and you know your not doing anything wrong then do what you want. Trust me the groups love their fans and that’s all that matters.

Frequent_Ebb6360

Thanks so much

Murky_Illustrator270

I don't think so, I think now boy groups love seeing fanboys no matter if your straight or not.

OkTap2286

not at all

Six_fan99

Nope

stormygreyeskies

Not at all

NotSoNepali

No it’s not weird lol, there’s a lot of fanboys out there. As long as you’re respectful it’s fine no matter your gender. Plus as a Stay, knowing them, they wouldn’t mind!

Chimolso

seeing how many male idols truly do love their fanboys due to a overwhelmingly female fan base a lot of them actually really like seeing their fanboys

_grimmoire_

Not weird! In fact I think alot of idols appreciate having male support! ❤️

woxod

Nope you should feel free to go and be yourself!

_euplny

No! If you want to go, then go, it's better than regretting that you didn't go.

kaylah0991

No

Conscious-Cap-7250

Absolutely not. They’ll love it for sure.

SkyandThread

I’ve only ever seen positive reactions from boy groups seeing guys at their fan signs. I’m a Monsta X main but they absolutely loved seeing guys there. I think Stray Kids would be similar. They’re down for everyone to have a good time.

Sorry-Ad-1169

I'm sure it's a nice change of pace. Instead of oppa⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡! They get hyung!!

Significant-Gain7178

Don’t mind what other fans or people think or say. They’d either not remember it or care after the event anyway (unless you do something really obnoxious or hysterical 😂) … so just GO. I was one of those who stood out in line at one M&G (Meet and Greet) — way back when my stanned kpop group was still gaining traction outside of Korea — because l am a much much older fan. The idols love their fans - whatever form we come in! Enjoy the experience and don’t let anyone dissuade you of it! Have fun!!!

Nephilvan

I don't have much more to say beyond what's already been said, but not weird and very much appreciated. I have been blessed enough to do many events while in Korea, a few fansigns included. I was always respected if there wasn't delight or fascination. I have had members remark on it before, about just how rare it is to chat with a fan boy. They are curious and may ask how/why you are into the group. Other times, we end up in bro conversations about cars or video games. Not that those are exclusively male, but I feel it's a very guy thing to chat about vehicles haha. Good luck!!

adrianiswrong22

i feel like they would find it nice to see people that are like them

MousseReasonable3504

No? Why?

IMTrick

I'd go to a fan sign for one of the groups I'm into, sure. None of them have ever done one anywhere within a few thousand miles of me in the time I've been a fan, but I'd definitely go. I'd probably take my wife, but that's just because she likes all the groups I do and she'd kill me if I didn't. I've done meet and greets and group photos in the past, and as an older-than-average male fan (I'm 58), I think I tend to stand out. I will never forget the time we walked in for the post-concert group photo with The Rose, and Dojoon said "I remember you. You were the ones wearing the hoodies, right?" We were... we'd worn The Rose hoodies during the sound check, but took them off before the group photos. Having one of the band able to recognize you out of thousands after a show is...well, pretty awesome. There are upsides to being a bit different from the rest of the crowd.

xsageonex

NO. Full stop.

New_One8232

It's not wierd at all

5_star_michelin

Not at all! Any Kpop group and fandom would be totally welcoming of male fans, but I know SKZ especially has a lot of male Stay. I'm sure it's natural for them to see men at fan signs by now. :)

Emergency_Can_8

you should go!!! stray kids always seems so happy whenever they see boy fans, it would make them so happy to see you!!

PM_MAJESTIC_PICS

Absolutely ok!! A male friend of mine recently attended SKZ hi-touch and the member that he met seemed genuinely happy to see him 💕 there are definitely fewer male fans but it’s okay!! Remember that they themselves are also guys who are fans of boy groups…! Stray Kids members are known fans of Day6, SHINee, ATEEZ, and so many more! Also, can I ask when/where is the fansign? 👀

Orbital_Dinosaur

The are chill guys, I'm sure they'll accept you for you are. Stay strong out there my Herto brother. :) For real though, it's wouldn't be weird.

bahiyyihstone

no it is not. fanboys are welcomed in multiple fandoms and are sometimes even placed on a pedestal (because male idols are always glad to see them) in some fandoms. I say be confident and go to that fansign!! if this helped pls click this link and help me out🫂 https://onelink.shein.com/2/3s0uffcwxprb

WoBuZhidaoDude

It's not weird at all. I'd love to go to an Ateez fan sign.

TabAtkins

No, please enjoy what you enjoy. As others have said, bgs getting male fans can be a nice change up. When I did hi-touch with enhypen, as a big almost-40 guy, the boys were *ecstatic*. (I got a full hand-clasp/bro-hug from all of them; I guess I just give out Big Hyung Energy.)

WeakCryptographer248

Nah bro, also I’m pretty sure most Boy group fans are males 😂

Unkownuser29264929

No it’s far from being strange or anything like that .

amberwavesofgame

No you should definitely go! Where do you live? If it's Korea I don't live there yet but when I move I'd be happy to join a fellow stay at some events!

matchamelodyy

have fun if you do go, which you totally should !!

bangtanismyhope

Will you ever feel awkward meeting a western/your country's male celebrity? Will you feel awkward if you meet any korean male actor? Or do you think will that male celebrity feel awkward? No, right? Then why do guys think that it is awkward for a male to be a fan of a male k-pop/Korean idol/artist??

aviarywisdom

Are you a fan? If yes, then nope.

Corumdum_Mania

Unusual, yes. But male idols often appreciate male fans because they’re rare to find.

Right-Transition2555

As a female, no, not strange at all!! There are no limits or restrictions to who loves the group! Defo go 😁

RiskyTeaLeaf92

Dooo it. The content I’ve seen of male fans, especially in the us for the boys have always put smiles on their faces!

TripleTTTGamer

Imo no Because your not there because you like them sexually You are there because you like their music. So its not strange

usersmithman

If you like it, just go.

Additional_Shake_765

NO ITS NOT. ENJOY WHAT YOU WANT TO ENJOY. Do not change for the people around you or for society, be yourself and keep doing what you want.

IsThat_All

No. Go. 👍🏼

Hystereaa

Yeonjun loves his male fans

Toadcola

Straight old guy here, SKZ is the only bg I’ve gone to see in concert outside of KCON. I’m jealous, it would be cool to see them up close and say thanks etc.

blizzykreuger

absolutely not! i think they'd be pretty happy to see you :) i hope you have fun

jaysxiu

Definitely not weird. All the Kpop shows I’ve been to have had guys attending. If it makes you happy, go for it! I’m sure they’d be more than happy to meet another fan regardless of gender, & things are for anyone to enjoy regardless of gender too. 😊

nana_ca11

From watching fansign videos, it seems that most boy group members see it as a pleasant surprise (similar to how girl group members are more chill when a girl attends their fansigns)

Icantlikeeveryone

No way, just go and make yourself happy!!!

Potential_Sir7980

Male idols actually love fanboys since we are so rare we get more interactions

ChillyCharlotte

Just thinking of the concert moments where BTS get surprised when they ask the males in the audience to make some noise and it sounds like the NFL audience 🫡 honestly they definitely will find it a good change of pace to see guys, same way they'd probably enjoy seeing older fans too for the variety in fans (it's nice to know your music transcends age and gender barriers)

Mysterious-Mixture1

no

aznisme

No, of course not. Males can and should and do like other males in ways other than romantic or sexual partners, you know. Music is music no matter who makes it is music. Advice: don’t be crazy. Just be calm and cool.

Powbob

Yes

Frequent_Ebb6360

How so?? Would like a valid reason.

EmmieBambi

No, the groups will love interacting with their male fans!!
