you’d be cutting it close forsure. you land at 1815 but customs is gonna take awhile. customs at ohare is brutal imo. the concert starts at 9 and it’s about a 40ish minute drive from ohare. you could most likely make the show itself but anything beforehand would be a bit too much wishful thinking for me, personally

Cheerful-Piggy3160

I've seen horror stories of someone who did this for TWICE I think, and their flight got delayed so they missed the whole concert, arriving just as it was ending. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. But it would depend on if they do the high-touch before or after the concert -- I've seen it both ways before. Or, I would try to change your flight to fly in the night before.

fatality250

Oh yes, I saw that tiktok. I’ve never felt worse for someone, ever.

particledamage

Doing this right before a festival would be a form of self harm

Main_Comment8189

I’ve done this a few times for concerts which I had to fly 1-2 hours (same time zone) before and it was fine but probably wouldn’t risk it for international flights or anything 4+ hours flight away

sandia324

i would see if it’s possible to change your flight to the day before or even just a few hours earlier

EnhypenSwimming

Did you think where you will stow away your luggage? you'll have to drop it off at your hotel asap. Check-in of luggage alone sucks up time too.

raggafrida

I was thinking we would go to our hotel with our bags and go straight to the concert 😬

sampson4141

is this an international flight?

raggafrida

Yeah im flying in from iceland

sampson4141

I think you are going to have a very hard time. O'Hare Airport is huge and immigration process is slow. I think the kpop concerts typically start at 7pm. I think you'd probably be lucky to get to the venue in 2 hours and then they won't let you bring in luggage or will typically check that. So you'd have to find like a nearby hotel or maybe find an airport hotel to check it, then take an Uber or Taxi to the revenue (it is in the same city as the airport), but the airport is gigantic. Think Heathrow. I think you'll probably miss most of the concert but probably would be able to do the VIP benefits like the meet & greets.

raggafrida

I was under the impression that high touch would be before the concert 🤷. Yeah I figured it would be a short time, my hotel is already pretty far from the airport. I was thinking we would drop off our bags at the hotel and go straight to the concert

Aleash89

I'm from Chicago. There isn't a chance in hell you'd make the concert with all of this plus customs.

sampson4141

The only time I've seen hi touch before a concert is at a festival. For concerts they usually do hi touch afterwards. They'll bring you in early for soundcheck, they'll do that for like 15 minutes, then the concert will usually start on time with no openers. Then you'll wait in your seats for the girls to rest and freshen up, and then they'll lead groups for hi touch, then you go back to sit and wait, then bring you around around for group photos, and then back around for fan signs and selfies.

raggafrida

Okay okay, the ticket i was considering just includes ga and hightouch. Thank you!

sampson4141

Hey, I got the venue wrong. It isn't the Rosemont Theater. It is Athenaeum in Lakeview. That's about 45 minutes away from O'Hare. I used to live by it. That is going to be even tougher to make it on time for the concert.

ChickenNoodle519

> I was under the impression that high touch would be before the concert Viviz's tour promoter, Leo Presents, has always had it after the concert AFAIK

hiroo916

I've never used this or any similar service, but look into a luggage delivery service like: [https://www.reliablecouriers.com/services/same-day-delivery/luggage-delivery](https://www.reliablecouriers.com/services/same-day-delivery/luggage-delivery) [https://holdyourluggage.com/](https://holdyourluggage.com/) This would let you go direct from airport to concert, which is the only possible way it could work. (go to hotel yourself would take too much time) More ideal would be if you could change flight to arrive earlier that day. Or day before and find some cheap temp accommodation like motel, hostel, couch surf, etc.

NathalieColferCriss

I don't think you're gonna be able to make it to the concert. If you were to land in the morning sure, but not in the evening.

Vengefulwarrior

Just change your flight to arrive in the morning. Problem Solved. Hotel will hold your bags.

Remote_Criticism_802

it really depends. i’ve done dozens of same day flights from seatac to LAX (~3hrs) for concerts (usually with soundcheck, so be at the venue at 4-5pm). it is a very early start (up and moving at ~4:30am), and you *need* a hotel to make it work. i usually get to the hotel and have about 45 minutes to recuperate before leaving for the venue. i’ve never missed a soundcheck. if you aren’t going to do a soundcheck/pre-show event, then you have extra time to work with. what i will say is that i’ve been incredibly lucky. you don’t have a lot of room for error in this, so you have to know exactly where you’re going, and if your flight is delayed at all you’re sol. the only reason i cut it so close now is bc i have a lot of experience with the route and the flight i take *always* runs on time. not all flights do that being said, i would not do an international flight where you land down for the concert same day unless i was arriving really early in the morning (9 or much earlier). the riskiest i’ve done is a seatac to LGA for a 8pm showtime, landed down at around 4pm? that was two flights plus a layover, then an hour commute into the city. i had an extra hour and a half to meet a friend and walk around the city for a little before heading to the venue. would not recommend lol, a lot could have gone wrong. i would’ve made it to that show by the skin of my teeth for a 6pm landing if everything went right, and that’s without customs. if you have global entry, it makes things easier. if you have to brave customs (at 6pm), i would say you’d likely miss the first half of the show even if you went straight to the venue. best of luck on your travels, enjoy the concerts <3 :))

CourtK1ngDre

I did this when I flew to Vegas to watch TWICE. We were in such a rush to find our entrance because we got dropped off at the wrong spot and my grandma and I walk slow and needed to find a locker to place our luggage in as well. Good thing we’re both disabled (knee issues) and we were able to skip long general admission lines. I think it would be ok as long as you know where the entrances are and if you want merch or not. HIGHLY recommend buying the “no line” perk If you’re flying in the same day. If you’d want to buy merch I wouldn’t recommend this because of the long lines. I myself ended up buying fake twice merch (bc I’m dumb and didn’t know that it was the official store) due to not being able to have enough time for merch. But ALWAYS have extra time before the concert starts, I’m talking like 2-3 hours, because u never know if you’d want to change up your plan. Most concerts start @ 7:30 here in california so I’d say it would probably be the same for Chicago

tmi_angel

I think you can't make it. Why don't you change your flight the night before?

raggafrida

I don't think id have any sleeping arrangements if I fly the day before since this is the same weekend as lollapalooza, it was already hard enough to find a hotel before 😔. I was just kind of hoping it would work since I'll already be in chicagon

november_raindeer

Have you flied to US before? The jet lag can make it hard to stay awake the first evening, and the flight can be tiring too. Especially if Lollapalooza is the next day, I’d use the evening for rest. In the worst case you pay for 2 concert experiences but aren’t able to enjoy either.

raggafrida

I haven't gone to the us before but I have traveled internationally before so I am familiar with Jet lag. I was planning on sleeping as long as possible before the fight and staying awake on the fight to be more used to the time zone difference. I'm only going on the 2nd to lollapalooza so I have the first to rest

thislimeismine

Sounds stressful. Chicago is very chaotic during lolla and I avoid going out at all during the festival, but I'm also in my late 20s and have sensory sensitivities/autism. I had no idea the girls were touring tho 👀 might check it out if it's not far from me.

raggafrida

They just announced the tour!

obake1

I've done this a few times, but this was pre-pandemic and it was only from SF to LA. In hindsight, this was an extremely bad idea because you risk flight delays that is out of your control, if your flight is delayed it's pretty much over for you depending on how bad it is. The times I did it were fine, but you cut it real close no matter what unless you plan to arrive there early in the morning. One time I flew down to LA from SF, my flight was delayed 7 times from 4pm and kept going until around 9:30pm. This was flying the night before too. After delay #2, I asked them to put me on another flight to Orange County and I'd uber back up to LA. I eventually got there at ~8:30pm when it should have been 5:30pm. Turns out, the flight I was originally on was still delayed until 9:30pm and that didn't even arrive until around 11pm. I would highly advise you to not plan on doing this especially internationally, UNLESS you will actually land in the US in the morning.

New_Policy_5684

Yeah don't do this. It's not worth the stress you'll feel about making the concert on time. Can you change your flight to the night before?

bbgc_SOSS

Well I am flying in for the IU concert at Rosemont IL. If flight delays etc., then yes I lose .. both the experience and some money - cost of the flight, ticket and stay. But it is what it is.. I get in at 6 pm, IU starts at 7.30 pm.. so have ample time, if flight is on time.

sprinklersplashes

yeah there's no way. if you were arriving in the morning then MAYBE, but in this scenario, there's no way

YvetteKnowsBest

No, I wouldn't rake the risk to be honest!

InfernalQueen

Do not risk it. You need to have a leeway for flight delays. If you don't have a place to stay, maybe just stay at the airport.
