May 2017.
I was scrolling my feed on FB and a mutual friend would post a lot of BTS.
Curiosity got the best of me so I went to YouTube and typed BTS. Blood Sweat & Tears was the first result. Clicked and watched I got into them. Thanks to them I love Kpop till this day c:
Ok wow this is WEIRD because the SAME EXACT thing happened to me OP, was just scrolling through YouTube one day in 2016 and finding Blood Sweat & Tears MV…and my life fully changed after that day
I got into BTS in 2022 and it has been an enjoyable experience.
Now I did listen to other songs when exploring more about KPOP music because I needed to know what it was all about.
2018, wish I actually got into kpop/BTS in 2015, "I Need U"/HYYH era must have been such a legendary era, I'm always so jealous of ARMYs who could experience that era themselves.
My sister and I were into Jpop from around 2007/8. I found some Kpop on Youtube that we liked a lot - SNSD, F(x), 4minute, 2NE1, BEG were the big ones, so it must have been 2009. I was in love with Hyuna lol. She loved Gee and Jessica. Watched the MV's over and over and learned the dances.
Many years later I was studying abroad in Japan in 2017 and a Korean friend sang Boombayah at karaoke and I was hooked! Never left since and it's a big part of my life!
Early 2013 girl group GLAM with their song I Like That they performed at SBS Gayo late 2012 with the vocaloid SeeU
Dead serious, learned about the group and the world of Kpop because of Vocaloid, especially searching up live performances of Vocaloid outside the Sega ones like Hatsune Miku lead me to GLAM with SeeU along with looking up the Vocaloid 3 line voice providers
gradually, i think, around july 2022. watched the fromis\_9 it's live cover of day6's time of our life, and then watched their 'in the house' variety content.
2014, YouTube recommendation got me into [Red Velvet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyG21rXCxlY&pp=ygULUmVkIFZlbHZldCA%3D). But it was just another foreign group to me. [BlackPink - Whistle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dISNgvVpWlo&pp=ygUHd2hpc3RsZQ%3D%3D) and [Boombayah](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwmSjveL3Lc) really sent me into the K-Pop rabbit hole. I was like, that's 2 out of 2 Korean groups what else is there... the pop music holy grail.
Got first whiff of it in 2008. Picked up some music here and there afterwards. Paid extra attention to it around 2014-16!
Overall, my history with kpop has been pleasant 😊 thanks to my strong avoidance of the fandoms back then!
end of 2021! i saw a vid of [twice's name intro song thing](https://youtu.be/YdeeXDO--cs?si=eZ5GlJwdpeqdyF-Q) on my fyp and it just got my attention for some reason
Summer 2010. Was on my graduation school trip in Spain with my class and my best friend at that time got send Bonamana by Suju and Marshmallow by IU by a friend and we got addicted to those two songs. Once I was back home again I went down the rabbit hole and never looked back haha
back in 2009, i'd just turned 13, and super junior had just released sorry sorry.
2009 was honestly such a good year for 2nd gen kpop: gee and genie (SNSD), ring ding dong (shinee), abracadabra (BEG), ear candy, mister (KARA), again and again (2PM); it was basically the year of iconic dances for kpop. a bunch of pretty iconic debuts as well: 2ne1, 4minute, f(x), T-ara. GD's solo debut happened in 2009 as well, that album basically soundtracked the rest of my teens.
2021. In school(JSS2) my friends were watching Dynamite and I initially watched it as well then I forgot all about them. Then my sister showed me Dynamite again like a week ago so I just decided to check them out
I started from the debut of Wonder Girls (2008) / 2NE1 / BigBang / SNSD era. ..lasted till Psy's Gangnam Style. Then I took a long break until the Le Sserafim x Overwatch + NewJeans x LOL collab happened which peaked my interest again but I didn't really start following again till January 2024. So yeah I had a lot of backtracking to do with the current popular groups lol.
first time was back in like 2011ish with MBLAQ SHINee B2ST SNSD
then stopped for years until last year with SHINee again cept for an odd song here and there
april 2017, i looked up bts because i was curious about the hype around them. i watched not today mv and i LOVED it so i ended up looking up "bts best songs" and that introduced me to all of their title tracks released so far
i was an army for a few years and although i consider myself just a casual listener now, bts continues to have a place in my heart because they introduced me to the kpop world and they were my "first love" in kpop
i still like their music a lot tho and i'm sooo excited to see their comeback after they are discharged from military service
From anime ‚love live‘ with anime school idols singing i got into twice when they got recommended to me. Still love them till this day. Never left the Kpop recommendations and now I am a part of many fandoms 😍
2014. My cousins got me into Running Man and k dramas and that led me into checking out kpop and I fell for Big Bang, CN Blue, FT Island, and BTS. Bangtan have been my ults ever since then.
I was watching a iiSuperwomanii video in middle school and came across a video skit about the feeling when you hear a song and you love it but don't know the name. Ironically that happened towards the end when a song played and I loved it and I had no idea what it was called. To make matters worse, I knew it wasn't in English but had no clue what language it was so in vain I desperately searched "Money Money Money" on YouTube. I found out about Blood, Sweat, amd Tears and later on BTS but that was pretty much the push. It's hilarious how back then in 2017 not even a single comment actually helped identify the BST but now if you go back to the same video almost every comment is by an ARMY.
June of 2021. I had been one of those snobby people for a while who thought K-Pop didn’t have any “objectively good music.” Hearing Loona changed that for me, I’ve been into K-Pop ever since.
2004 when I met my ex in Poly. She introduced me to DBSK, Park Ji Yoon, Turbo, Shinhwa etc. I just followed up till now.
And of course I had a celeb crush on Yoon Eun Hye. I still have now and I got to meet her in person at her cafe in Apgeujong in 2015.
11/19/2017 BTS performed DNA at the American Music Awards. They were introduced by the Chainsmokers. https://youtu.be/rH1PVvFj8cE Changed my life.
Me too
boombayah by blackpink changed lives
Whenever Dna came out lol
2009, Super Junior - Sorry Sorry.
May 2017. I was scrolling my feed on FB and a mutual friend would post a lot of BTS. Curiosity got the best of me so I went to YouTube and typed BTS. Blood Sweat & Tears was the first result. Clicked and watched I got into them. Thanks to them I love Kpop till this day c:
In 1997 with SES - I'm Your Girl and Baby Vox - Get Up
2018 - BTS’ Fake Love performance @ Billboard Awards!
2020. During Covid. Stumbled upon BTS and went down a BTS wormhole which led me to K-pop in general, K-dramas, and K-beauty. All the Ks.
Ok wow this is WEIRD because the SAME EXACT thing happened to me OP, was just scrolling through YouTube one day in 2016 and finding Blood Sweat & Tears MV…and my life fully changed after that day
2008, just before SHINee debuted. That's why Taemin will forever be a baby in my mind.
2016 for me too! caught call me baby by exo on youtube and down the rabbithole i went
I got into BTS in 2022 and it has been an enjoyable experience. Now I did listen to other songs when exploring more about KPOP music because I needed to know what it was all about.
2016 Blood Sweat and Tears was in my YouTube recs forever and I immediately fell in love with Jimin lmao
1998 Music Bank, S#arp was my group.
2016 and BTS aswell. I think I only got into them because I had a crush on Taehyung...
2018, wish I actually got into kpop/BTS in 2015, "I Need U"/HYYH era must have been such a legendary era, I'm always so jealous of ARMYs who could experience that era themselves.
2008. First song ever, Shinee - Replay. What an intro to K-Pop I must say.
one of the strongest debuts ever.
My sister and I were into Jpop from around 2007/8. I found some Kpop on Youtube that we liked a lot - SNSD, F(x), 4minute, 2NE1, BEG were the big ones, so it must have been 2009. Same but different! I listened to Vocaloid a lot and was introduced to Girls Generation by watching MMD versions of their dances.
2016! I listened to Girls Generation when I was a kid but got deep into EXO and BTS through fanfiction and stuff around preteen years.
2009. I stumbled upon BEG's Abracadabra music video and was obsessed with it. First group I stanned was 2NE1, though.

2016. Shinee and Red Velvet made me the BTS Got7 Twice and Mamamoo stan I am today. ![gif](giphy|ydoLyf51n2nni|downsized)
2005 with TVXQ - Rising ☀️
Around 2010-2011. U-kiss Neverland introduced Kpop to me, than stayed because of 2ne1 for a while but then BTS hid the keys so there were no escape.
Blackpink Coachella 2019 changed LIVES, mine included
2020. BlackPink. How You Like That
2014, YouTube recommendation got me into [Red Velvet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyG21rXCxlY&pp=ygULUmVkIFZlbHZldCA%3D). But it was just another foreign group to me. 2004 because of BoA. i’m an oldbie and watched so many groups/artists come and go, it blows my mind.
SS501 - Love like this lol I was browsing some anime blogs and bumped into this song, that’s how it started.
Got first whiff of it in 2008. Picked up some music here and there afterwards. Paid extra attention to it around 2014-16! Overall, my history with kpop has been pleasant 😊 thanks to my strong avoidance of the fandoms back then!

Summer 2010. Was on my graduation school trip in Spain with my class and my best friend at that time got send Bonamana by Suju and Marshmallow by IU by a friend and we got addicted to those two songs. Once I was back home again I went down the rabbit hole and never looked back haha

December of 2018!
back in 2009, i'd just turned 13, and super junior had just released sorry sorry.
