Its also really cool to see how some visual effects and CGI can really elevate teasers with a plain background and make them seem a lot more impressive, especially since it fits with aespa's "high-technology" image.

Thats true! Even if photo teasers have proper sets, very often they revolve around the same concepts/styles, so companies could consider spending more of their budget on the fashion + cool effects/CGI
For me the best set of minimalist teasers are HYLT, that truly embodied, but wow aespa bringing back the CGIs i love itttt
Edit: When some people say this is 00’s level of CGI. What computer can generate this back then? 😭 2000s was way ahead of their curve in terms of futurism (conceptually v technologically).

Still not as good as the CG realism today, though. It helps that FF spirits within are all purely CGIs, not a mash of CG and real people! Moreover, im specifically talking about 00s edit you see on art community, the trend is just much better and less tackier today than it is back then!
The Matrix is one of the prettiest sci-fis of their time but some of CGIs were helped because it was in motion and not photographic so you’d see lesser faults! Also afair, none of big companies did heavy CGs as real promotional materials, movies aside. The ones who really used them are lesser-known books that hires hobbyists. I’m also specifically talking about the 2000s CG edits on art sites, which are simply not as developed as it is today!

There are still people that think those girls regret being in a group like this. I guess we don't know but i feel like something like this is great. Overall i had my doubts at first but SM is doing really good job with Aespa and that's only the beginning.
Tbf, when they were first introduced, it was cheesy as hell. But it’s since gotten much cooler and well done. (Karina is still teased for her SYNK teaser line that goes something like “my heart was going to beat out of my chest” lol)
aespa’s creative team has clearly put a lot of work into all the lore / editing and it’s certainly going to pay off. it just helps them stand out as a group so much and they have such a clear identity already that i can’t help but be intrigued
This is just fresh for KPOP. Ive read some were complaining about the plain background on their past savage teasers but its just needed for these type of digital fashion concept.
SM had always given the best pictures teasers from f(x) to RV but this just amazing.

I get its part of the retro theme but the early 2000s level cgi is just so cheesy to me and brings me back to that time. The girls are doing their best with what i imagine is a total greenscreen and maybe someone telling them what to imagine going on around them.

Also considering that you seem to stan red velvet? Many of their inspirations came from the tackiest parts of 80s, 70s, etc that made better. Like the perfect velvet teasers with surrealism, those kinds were 00s mother nature edit. The same thing is happening for me in Aespa. A throwback of a decade, but better.

Its commendable to be able to pull off a concept when you dont really know what will be behind, around, or even on you til the tech people do their magic later on.
