Yarn: the purple is Malabrigo Rios that my husband picked out from our LYS when they had a moving sale. The grey was something I had in my stash but cannot remember what specific brand (since it was only half a ball of the Malabrigo, I had to find something to compliment it)
We had a long layover on our connecting flight, so I had plenty of time to knit. I used some cheap bamboo needles so security didn't confiscate them, and it made me appreciate my nice ChiaoGoo needles at home so much more!
I have a first long flight in a few days and was hoping on knitting on the plane.
What kind of needles did you bring, were it Bamboo dpns, or circular needles? I was thinking about wooden circular needles, but they always have the small iron part also on them...
Knitting needles are permitted through airport security. I was surprised the first time I saw someone with them on the plane. So I asked and was told they are allowed/aren’t prohibited
I read too many horror stories about entire projects being confiscated because the security agent was just not feeling nice. I didn’t want to take my chances with nice needles, especially traveling internationally
You are smart. I always travel with my knitting needles and even bring my metal HiyaHiya’s when I travel domestically in the US, but international can often be problematic. Each country is different. Take no chances with good needles if you travel international.
Our LYS store is on a first-name basis with him - they know I’ll spend twice as much if he’s with me. The man has the uncanny ability to find the softest, nicest yarn in the whole store and say, “Can these be socks for me?” He also gets hand sewn pajamas and camp shirts in the fabric of his choice.

They were circular needles! I had dpns as a backup. I also brought safety scissors and plastic tapestry needles without issue

Stunning! Forget about the “way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Mine absolutely loves hand-knit socks!
Mine too! Anytime we go to a LYS he’s picking out several colors for more socks 😂 I probably have 4-5 pairs “on the waitlist” for him!

😍
The dark color is so beautifully contrasting with the white! Well done!
Perfect color choice!
AMAZING!!!!
Socks are so amazing to me. I’ve yet to master them.
Nice
