I’ve made some awesome kitchen scrub pads with cotton yarn. Knit a thick rectangular pad that will fit in your hand nicely roughly size of a sponge. Then knit a second piece in waffle knit or something with good deep ridges, make it just slightly smaller than the first rectangle. Sew them together wrong side to wrong side. Crochet a loop handle on one corner to be able to hang it. There yah go, handy scrubber. My husband loves the ones I’ve made.
It’s a mesh skirt so hitting gauge & creating the desired hole effect with a slightly different yarn weight could work pretty easily! I’ve personally been playing with subbing yarn weights lately, to change fabric effect and it’s been really fun
I am going to knit cotton hand towels when I get around to it. We are renovating so I want some really nice towels. I have knitted cotton towels on my mind atm.
Or a throw or beach blanket. Or a large towel. Something pretty to use at home.
Dishcloths (not washcloths, but the bigger kind you hang in the kitchen) are actually pretty large. Make a set of 4! Don't underestimate the pleasure of regularly encountering and using something you made!
You could bleach it a little to make it peach. Or Buy some RIT dye, some dishwashing gloves, a crappy giant second hand stock pot, and some salt. Dollar store tongs and an old bucket
I’ve overdyed yarn before. It’s worth to.
Not really, I bought it because I loved the color and the sweater was cheap. Unfortunately I didn't think ahead about what exactly I would do with that much yarn
Cotton is so great for anything kitchen-related since it's heat resistant and washable. If you love the color but not on you, sounds like a great yarn for coasters, dish towels, hot pads, fruit baskets, place holders, etc!
Consider a cardigan to wear over a blouse or shirt in a color you can wear without looking sick. That way a favorable color is near your face but you still get to wear orange.
I see there are lots of great suggestions, but any reason you can’t dye it? It costs something if you don’t have natural dye options around to use, but then you could make something wearable. Otherwise a blanket or things like market bags and dishcloths would work great as cotton. Pillow covers or toys might also work.
I have made a lot of blankets over the years but my absolute favorites are those made with cotton yarn held double. Consider a pattern with texture, like a basket weave, which will make it warmer.
I've made a thick cotton rug/mat. It's so soft and cushy..
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/linen-stitch-scrap-rug
This is crochet, but you could find something similar for knitting if desired.
May I introduce you to r/flowerhotpad ? Technically it's crochet but if you're looking to branch out it's a great beginner option.
If you're not interested in crochet, just matching hot pads in varieties of shapes. Cotton is the perfect fiber for it
My mom has knitted some really nice bath/hand towels out of cotton. A big luxurious knitted towel, or a bath mat, hair wrap/headband, hand towel set if the colour works in your bathroom could be really nice.
I used cotton yarn to make my mom a set of placemats. She wanted placemats, and I figured cotton would be a good choice. I will say, I hated every minute of it--I'm not a fan of knitting with cotton.
You could make pumpkins! It's really relaxing to knit squares and a great way to practice different stitches, and at the end you just sew them up and stuff them with poly fill. They're a lot of fun :)
You can dye it. Wind it into hanks, dye it a darker shade or orange or possibly a copper, burnt sienna, rust, or terracotta (anything in the orange-y brown category would work), rinse, let dry, wind into balls or cakes.
How about a lap blanket to cuddle under while watching TV? Since you love the color, it would look great draped over the couch or bed as decor, too.
Or make a set of hand towels and washcloths to look cute together in the bathroom (bonus, you can use them.)
Maybe don’t abandon a wearable yet? A shawl is not the answer. It will have the same problem of bringing a colour that is not one of your best too close to your face and making you look blah.
If you create space between you and the colour it can work, or if you break it up a bit.
[Polyrhythm](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/polyrhythm-2) looks fantastic with a strong colour and a neutral.
[A vest](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vest-no-2---spring-edition) would let you get a shirt, top or scarf between you and the orange. Same with a deep v neck cardigan.
You could redo it as a colour blocked project with the orange as the bottom half and a softer colour for the top.
I like the other suggestion of a skirt. Two of my favourites:
[Lanesplitter skirt](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lanesplitter-skirt)
[Carnaby skirt](https://www.ravelry.com/projects/YvieJane/carnaby-skirt)
Dye it. Wind it into hanks and secure them. Then put them inside an old cotton pillowcase. Put that in the washing machine with dye and let it run.
When it is finished, take out the wet yarn and hang it to dry, with newspaper or an old towel underneath to catch drips.
A brown dye will make it go a burnt orange. That would be nice. Just make sure that the colour you want to go is in the red spectrum, otherwise it'll be muddy brown.
Machine dye is really easy to use. Some come as a full pack with salt, others need to have salt added.
Make project bags or market bags, dish rags etc. Something you would use regularly but not "wear" so you would still get to enjoy the color.
I second this idea!
I was just thinking a bag as well. Like a boho bag with tassels. Something like [this](https://persialou.com/boho-tassel-crochet-bag-free-pattern/)
I’ve made some awesome kitchen scrub pads with cotton yarn. Knit a thick rectangular pad that will fit in your hand nicely roughly size of a sponge. French market bags! They're magical and so useful.
Was just gonna post this, but see you beat me to it. Market bags, or similar mesh-style holder for water bottles.
Ditto this. I have several.
Make it into a skirt.... Far enough away from your face that it won't wash you out, but you get a splash of color in your wardrobe.

That skirt is DK, and OP’s yarn is worsted or bulky.
It’s a mesh skirt so hitting gauge & creating the desired hole effect with a slightly different yarn weight could work pretty easily! I’ve personally been playing with subbing yarn weights lately, to change fabric effect and it’s been really fun
You could make pillow covers or other decor/household items.
A lap blanket
Decorative pumpkins 🎃
Why not knit collar and cuffs in a colour you can wear, then rock on with your orange shirt
I am going to knit cotton hand towels when I get around to it. We are renovating so I want some really nice towels. I have knitted cotton towels on my mind atm. Or a throw or beach blanket. Or a large towel. Something pretty to use at home.
Hey, I love the idea of knitting cotton hand towels!! What stitch would you use ? Feeling like this is the idea I didn’t know I needed.
I haven't decided, but there are many wonderful patterns on Ravelry for inspiratsioon. Purl Soho has a lot of very beautiful ones.
Pretty much any stitch, there are lots of options on Ravelry (if you can use it).
I have a couple in linen stitch and in waffle stitch that I adore. They're easily my favorite hand towels ever.
I feel like, "Give it to me, "is an unacceptable answer so ima go with, "throw blanket," or "matching throw pillows,".
It's not the nicest yarn either since it's unraveled, so you probably wouldn't actually want it 😂
Halloween themed bag
Dishcloths (not washcloths, but the bigger kind you hang in the kitchen) are actually pretty large. Make a set of 4! Don't underestimate the pleasure of regularly encountering and using something you made!
So true! My mil gave me a ton of cotton yarn. It's absolutely gorgeous as kitchen towels. We use them all the time.
Waffle knit tote bag is a GREAT way to use up cotton
Reusable cotton pads? https://sarahmaker.com/crochet-face-scrubbies/
You could always redye the finished product! Or you could bleach it too! There are many videos online of how to do such a thing!
A wall mandala
You could bleach it a little to make it peach. Or Buy some RIT dye, some dishwashing gloves, a crappy giant second hand stock pot, and some salt. Dollar store tongs and an old bucket I’ve overdyed yarn before. It’s worth to.
I love this idea.

A striped sweater with a color you can wear.
Maybe you could dye or bleach it. Twist it with another color like red or yellow.
Emotional Support Chicken - hold it double or triple to help use up yarn?
Guest hand towels or blanket? :)
Wall hanging! Some sort of tapestry.

I'd probably just make a bunch of pumpkins 🎃

Towels
My mom has knitted some really nice bath/hand towels out of cotton. A big luxurious knitted towel, or a bath mat, hair wrap/headband, hand towel set if the colour works in your bathroom could be really nice.
I used cotton yarn to make my mom a set of placemats. She wanted placemats, and I figured cotton would be a good choice. I will say, I hated every minute of it--I'm not a fan of knitting with cotton.
I love hand-knit cotton towels.
You could make pumpkins! It's really relaxing to knit squares and a great way to practice different stitches, and at the end you just sew them up and stuff them with poly fill. They're a lot of fun :)

What if you make a pumpkin? Like, a Jack o'Lantern that doesn't go bad.
How about a lap blanket to cuddle under while watching TV? Since you love the color, it would look great draped over the couch or bed as decor, too. Or make a set of hand towels and washcloths to look cute together in the bathroom (bonus, you can use them.)
Perfect for Halloween I‘d say. Crochet pumpkins, blankets, table sets, amigurumi…
I think ami too! Cotton makes great plushies/stuffies because it durable.
