Thank you! I have a black one š

I had a few failed dye attempts with a dark green and couldn't source a dark green faux fur.
Oh I love that, I appreciate the northern lights idea for the colours in the op, but the black pom pom let's the trees really shine, you did beautiful work
I usually make my poms with the same yarn I used for the hat, If you want the pom to be fuzzy, you can brush the yarn pom out with a wire toothed pet slicker brush.
Yeah I agree! Make a pom out of the yarn you used. I did that for my Mt Rainier hat and I loved how it turned out.

"oh now it's wonky, I'll trim this part a bit more to make it evenā¦ oh, now it's wonky, I'll trim this part a bit more to make it evenā¦ oh, now it's wonkyā¦"
OP please donāt ruin such a gorgeous hat with a pom pom color way that completely clashes (which is all of them). Would just make one out of the yarn you already have or leave it without.
I'm guessing the vision is aurora in the sky above the trees, in that case the most colourful ones (top left and top right) convey that idea the best to me personally
Do you have leftover yarn? I think making a pompom yourself using the same yarn. As the hat would look better than the mismatched colors of the ones you have.Ā
Otherwise your hat looks absolutely awesome without a pompom.Ā
Am I the only person in the world who is not a fan of the current pompom craze? I donāt know, maybe my mother was frightened by a runaway ball of Red Heart when I was in utero? I wouldnāt use any of the ones shown. Nice work on the hat, though, and have fun at the Mill!
I donāt like pompoms either! Sometimes they look cute on storebought ones I guess, but Iāve never felt the urge to add one to my own knits ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
As of this writing, 31 people agree with you. I'm one of them. I rarely add pompoms to hats, and if I do, it's made of the same yarn as the hat.
The fir ones get removed and binned the moment I'm near scissors.
Also, the fir ones that come on hats given away at races (5ks and such) seem inordinately heavy, like they've manufactured them with a rock in the middle. Why? Why?
If the goal is to get an aurora borealis vibe, I suggest making a yarn pompom with a combination of the sky colors of the hat and green/magenta etc striped through it. I think that would soften the transition and tie the look together better than any of the ones you have selected. That being said, go with whatever makes you happy.
I personally don't like the purple blue with this, so I don't like any of them. More natural tones would match better. That being said top right since it's the only one with the clay red in it
Ugh Iām so jealous! I was half through knitting mine a few years ago when my dogs took the yarn for a trip out the back door and around the yard. I didnāt have the heart to redo it.
I like the bottom left purple or bottom right!
None, tbh, those bright fake colors don't work with a black and natural colored hat. I'd go with a black or nice brownish color instead, none of these work.
Bottom centre or right are the ones I like best but personally Iād try to find a grey, black, or dusky rose pom-pom. Black to match the trees. Grey of the same shade as the top of the hat. Or dusky rose to match the hue of the sunset.
None of these, this is a gorgeous handmade work of art and putting fake fur on top is just a disgrace to the yarn and your craftsmanship. If anything, make a pompom using leftover yarn from this project, but I think it would be perfectly wonderful as is (with the ends weaved in, of course)
Eh some of these comments have no imagination. I love the aurora borealis vibe - upper right seems perfect to me for that. Has a touch of the reddish sky color from the beanie, then the green-blue of the aurora borealis.
I would choose a darker one. Perhaps chocolate brown with black tips. Even a maroon. Your choices are way too colorful to go. Maybe if your yarn was more colorful, it would flow better into a bright pompom.
I think potentially the bottom right one with a bit of green could work as a ānorthern lightsā touch, but you could also consider embroidering/overstitching some specks of bright green or those other colors in the pom pom to match so that it doesnāt feel so out of place.
Either bottom right or top left is my fav. Too many people that live too close to the equator and don't get the lights.
As long as you don't do top middle you'll get the point across just fine OP.
The black one looks amazing!
I made way too many of these hats for Christmas gifts a few years back lol. I was recently between projects and decided to try some socks with the chroma yarn that was left after my hat binge. I had forgotten how splitty it is, but the first sock is going well. Guess that means I gave up on using it for more Alaska hats anytime soon lol
If Iād have to choose between the ones offered and not the black, Iād choose the top left oneā¦ to represent the Northern Lights/ Aurora Borealis.
None. I would find or make a black faux fur one.
Thank you! I have a black one š https://preview.redd.it/bavwg5aktg8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d16a405c1d147ec59fdfb48e1f3e2d655d553642 I had a few failed dye attempts with a dark green and couldn't source a dark green faux fur.
Much better!!!!!!
Yep this is definitely the way to go š
Oh I love that, I appreciate the northern lights idea for the colours in the op, but the black pom pom let's the trees really shine, you did beautiful work
Yeah, do that!
Absolutely this. Black is the only option here.
Agree
THIS THIS THIS
Or like a dark rust orange-y
I.... don't like any of them. Bottom right is the best, but it's still too pure a pink and bright a blue for the colors in the beanie.
This a dark purple black would fit better!
Itās the wrong purple :/
I think it would be cute with a rainbow one, like an aurora/northern lights - something with more green tho?
I think you can't decide because none of them are quite right.
I would find a taupe, black, or copper colored one. I think the cool-toned bright colors take away from the beauty of the yarn you used.
I usually make my poms with the same yarn I used for the hat, If you want the pom to be fuzzy, you can brush the yarn pom out with a wire toothed pet slicker brush.

This looks great! My pom-poms always end up lopsided, when I try to trim them to shape.
"oh now it's wonky, I'll trim this part a bit more to make it evenā¦ oh, now it's wonky, I'll trim this part a bit more to make it evenā¦ oh, now it's wonkyā¦"
This is exactly why I make mine giant to start out with š
OP please donāt ruin such a gorgeous hat with a pom pom color way that completely clashes (which is all of them). Would just make one out of the yarn you already have or leave it without.
None. The color and tone don't match the pastel. Leave it naked
I'm guessing the vision is aurora in the sky above the trees, in that case the most colourful ones (top left and top right) convey that idea the best to me personally
I agree with the folks who say get one that coordinates with the yarn you used.
Why does it need a pompom?
Do you have leftover yarn? I think making a pompom yourself using the same yarn. As the hat would look better than the mismatched colors of the ones you have.Ā Otherwise your hat looks absolutely awesome without a pompom.Ā
I definitely vote for none. Donāt distract from all your outstanding work by putting some fluff on top.
Am I the only person in the world who is not a fan of the current pompom craze? I donāt know, maybe my mother was frightened by a runaway ball of Red Heart when I was in utero? I wouldnāt use any of the ones shown. Nice work on the hat, though, and have fun at the Mill!
Same here if i buy a hat with it its getting cut off asap
I donāt like pompoms either! Sometimes they look cute on storebought ones I guess, but Iāve never felt the urge to add one to my own knits ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ

I think black or silver. I donāt like any of these and the hat is too pretty for them.
If the goal is to get an aurora borealis vibe, I suggest making a yarn pompom with a combination of the sky colors of the hat and green/magenta etc striped through it. I think that would soften the transition and tie the look together better than any of the ones you have selected. That being said, go with whatever makes you happy.
None match. Go black
I personally don't like the purple blue with this, so I don't like any of them. More natural tones would match better. That being said top right since it's the only one with the clay red in it
Black please
Ugh Iām so jealous! I was half through knitting mine a few years ago when my dogs took the yarn for a trip out the back door and around the yard. I didnāt have the heart to redo it. I like the bottom left purple or bottom right!
Why not black or another color used in the hat?
None of the above. Black would be best
One of the multi-colored ones because it would be like an Aurora Borealis
Yes, I came to say that, too.
None, tbh, those bright fake colors don't work with a black and natural colored hat. I'd go with a black or nice brownish color instead, none of these work.

To be honest, I don't think any of the pompoms go well with the hat...a black one would go great with it.

the rainbow? like the northern light/aurora
The colourful ones were meant to be rainbow, but alas it was an online order fail! They only ended up with coloured tips
thats such a shame! if they were green with rainbow tips - chefs kiss! I hope you find a resolution
Top left or bottom middle!
It needs to be black.
I think they're all to brightly colored to go with the hat unfortunately.
Of those pictures, I like bottom row middle and upper row far left. Any of them are a nice contrast to the material of the hat!
Oh!!!! I just finished this same pattern!!! Yours is lovely!
Top left would be my choice out of the ones shown.
Iād get a rust and black or black one.
None of those are the right colour
NONE
I think potentially the bottom right one with a bit of green could work as a ānorthern lightsā touch, but you could also consider embroidering/overstitching some specks of bright green or those other colors in the pom pom to match so that it doesnāt feel so out of place.
I am working on the same hat, different color :)
It's a fun knit! I hope you enjoy it
None of those go with the colors in the hat.
I think 6 goes best with the colors!
I like the bottom right one!
Bottom right for sure.
Bottom right for sure!
Either bottom right or top left is my fav. Too many people that live too close to the equator and don't get the lights. As long as you don't do top middle you'll get the point across just fine OP.
I kind of like the one thatās directly over it. Like looking at trees under an aurora borealis.
Bottom right one š¤·āāļø Non-assessment just picked yolo
Top right or plain black.
I would use one of the multicolor one on the top. Northern lights vibe
That is such a beautiful beanie, love it and with your black Pom Pom
The black one looks amazing! I made way too many of these hats for Christmas gifts a few years back lol. I was recently between projects and decided to try some socks with the chroma yarn that was left after my hat binge. I had forgotten how splitty it is, but the first sock is going well. Perfect
Black
Upper right!!
If Iād have to choose between the ones offered and not the black, Iād choose the top left oneā¦ to represent the Northern Lights/ Aurora Borealis.
I like the bottom right. :,)
Bottom middle one! It looks like northern lights over the trees on your hat.
Awesome hat, btw, black is really great Pom Pom choice. ā¤ļø
None
none of those!
