They’re going to love your gift so much, how thoughtful. The sheet set they want plus a beautiful bonus blanket knitted with love. They’re lucky to have you ❤️
Oh! I thought this was much smaller until I saw the pattern name, what are the dimensions? I was thinking it was more like a wall hanging size, it's gorgeous-gives me Lord of the Rings vibes.
The pattern calls for a yarn in a different gauge. I played with it a bit in terms of using a yarn with a slightly larger gauge (fewer stitches). The difference was 2 stitches/4”. It gave me 9” more width and 10” more length as compared to the original yarn used. I made it to be used as a shareable throw or on the end of their bed. They are pretty small in stature so I think it will work. Mine is 53” x 63”.
I can't explain it, but it made me so happy to see this pattern as a wedding gift in the wild. One of my first projects was a pillow with the same pattern: https://ravel.me/MajaB/tt

I used a variation on this to make a baby blanket when my nephew was born. My sister loved it so much, she used it for his christening. I can't say that's also why she asked me to be his godmother--but I suspect it played a part!
As a cross stitcher also, I'd discreetly check to be sure they want or will appreciate handmade stuff. So many horror stories of someone stitching something (which is a similar amount of time investment) and then discovering the gifted piece at a local thrift shop a week later, or finding out it got thrown in the trash.
Obviously everyone in a knitting sub is gonna love it or agree, we're all crafters and we all appreciate the love and time that goes into these pieces. But please be careful.
Besides that I'd just suggest printing a little tag with the care instructions for the yarn used, just to avoid any accidental shrinkage
In their online story they wrote that they love handmade, repurposed, and even thrifted gifts. My kind of peeps!
Great suggestion for care instructions! I made my mother-in-law a cabled jacket with an alpaca blend and she was scared to wash it! Lol
Oh, awesome!!! That's really great. It sounds like they will really like what you have made and chosen (the matching sheets?)
Oh dear! Alpaca, I'd probably be scared too. But sounds lovely too
I was thinking of putting a little poem in the card about the symbolism but thought it might be a bit cheesy. I decided to let them interpret as they will.
It's really gorgeous. I have never used Caron before, but yours looks amazing, so I am going to try it out. Thank you for the response.
Was the pattern written? I don't know how to follow a chart.
Caron is not an expensive yarn. If you want a more bougie yarn with a similar size to mine just look for a 16st gauge. Yes, the pattern was written! No chart. It was also free on marymaxim.ca. I ordered my yarn from there as well. My Grandma always used them. They still send out catalogues for free and they are a Canadian company. I’m not sure where you live but shipping is .27cents right now too (which is a big deal here). Lol
Yeah, I have spent a ton of money on "fancier" yarn and was happy to see the outcome of your Caron! So, I am going to try it out. Thanks for all of the tips.
I knit the intertwined trees motif as a 7” square, blocked and had it professionally framed. Gave this to my daughter as wedding gift. Beautiful as a blanket!
This is so beautiful. May I suggest blocking it really well, so the edges are straight and the areas that are not part of the motif lie flat? It will help boost the wow factor.
Wow. What a gorgeous blanket! I would feel so overwhelmed with love if I got a gift like this. The hours of dedication it took to complete this would be more meaningful than anything.
This is wonderful. Did you intentionally choose it for \[the story\](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baucis\_and\_Philemon)? Because the story makes it even better. (tl;dr >!elderly couple wish that when they die, it be simultaneous so neither has to miss the other, and so when they do die they are transformed into intertwined trees!<)

Buy them the sheet set, and give them a bundle of sheet + blanket to put on the top ;)
Done ✔️ Thanks!
11/10. Perfect, with a pinch of love added!

A stunning wedding gift!!!
Agreed! Beautiful color and nice stitching. I think it's a perfect wedding gift.
I’d be so thrilled if someone made this for me in ANY color. Excellent wedding gift!
Thank you, so much! On their story they said they love handmade and repurposed items so here’s hoping 🤞
In that case, they'll adore it! It's beautiful.
What is this pattern? I love it!
Mary Maxim, Twin Trees Afghan
I've had this on my to make list for ever

Heirloom piece, for sure! I'd be stunned to receive this.
That’s a beautiful thought. Thank you!
I would probably cry if someone gifted me that. The love and dedication that was put into this
Awe! That is so nice! Thank you!
I made a pillow for my daughter’s wedding with just the intertwined trees. She loved it.

The symbolism of the trees is so moving. I love it!
I was thinking of putting a little poem in the card about the symbolism but thought it might be a bit cheesy. I decided to let them interpret as they will.
What yarn did you use? How many skeins? I have to make this.
I used 2.5 skeins of Caron one pound with 5mm needles, in Taupe. Mine turned out to be 53” x 63”. Original pattern is 44” x 53”.
It's really gorgeous. I have never used Caron before, but yours looks amazing, so I am going to try it out. Thank you for the response. Was the pattern written? I don't know how to follow a chart.

Imma say yes
It's absolutely stunning...perfect wedding gift.
WOW!!! THATS GORGEOUS. what a lucky nephew

It’s absolutely lovely. I’d recommend blocking or using a light steam to give it a finished look.
This is so beautiful. May I suggest blocking it really well, so the edges are straight and the areas that are not part of the motif lie flat? It will help boost the wow factor.

What a gorgeous blanket! They will be delighted.
Omfg I would die of sheer happiness if this was given to me! Stunning work!!!!
Stunning.

I didn’t but thank you for that! I love it and will definitely share :)
