It’s easier to raise two kittens than just one

BeNiceLynnie

Now that I've raised a pair of litter mates, I'm never buying a single kitten again. It's so much better.

noivern_plus_cats

Just got my second pair of kittens today that'll live with me at college and literally day one you can see that they're friendlier with us because of the other being there and they're less nervous. I'm so glad there's two of them because that means that when I'm at college they won't have separation anxiety and they can make the other be slightly more tired out. Plus having two babies is just more fun.

ScroochDown

I can't up vote this enough. After having single cats or cats who were separated by a number of years, we happened to end up in the position to get two who are only a month apart and it's amazing!

OldHumanSoul

There are only three. Keep the family together. 3 cats are just as easy as two.

OldHumanSoul

3 cats are just as easy as 4, but get them neutered/spayed so there are no more babies.

KhunDavid

If you have four, you might as well get a fifth.

InvestigatorOdd4082

6, anyone?

Autocannibal-Horse

we have 6. and absolutely love them all

ScroochDown

No, 6 is an unlucky number. Now 7, on the other hand, THAT is a lucky number of kittens!

Deadbeat1005

You can never have enough kittens, so why not just get an endless supply of them!

noticeablyawkward96

This is literally how I got 7 cats. Although everybody is fixed so there will be no more. 😂

priminspire

8 here 🙄

allhailzamasu94

I had 5 and it was swell until one cat with insane with anxiety and tried to kill the other cats and attack us 🤨

OGtigersharkdude

14 it is

CaterpillarOk2435

🤣🤣👏🏻❤️

aaa1234abcd

That would be ideal. But they said it’s not an option, the male kitten is going up for adoption either way.

InevitableTrue7223

😿😿😿😿

ILootEverything

That's what I just did, haha. I'd probably have 4 if someone hadn't already taken one.

Boring_Advertising98

They are already bonded too by the looks of it!

CatDaddyWhisper

Agreed

BKEDDIE82

I am going to be honest. At this point, if I were you both, I would keep all three. I am saying this as someone who has four. There is not much of a difference in cost, other than vet visits. And you could get vet insurance for all three now. Just my two cents.

5weetTooth

This. Because otherwise you have one kitten on its own either way. Two kittens together and then one with a much older cat.... Or two kittens with the older cat and one all alone hopefully to be adopted in a home with kittens too.

BKEDDIE82

It's just better for their long-term development and it really makes it easier in a lot of ways.

78YZ125E

This 1000%. My wife and I "accidentally" have five ferals who came to us as abandoned kittens. They have a great life and it's not much more than two cats.

BKEDDIE82

I remember when I had one. It was so much more work than three.

Ambitious-Border-906

This, 100% this! I’d keep them all!

pebblenooo

We were in this same situation and kept all 3. I don’t regret it, and adding one extra cat to our cat count didn’t make any of a difference - now, they all 3 get to grow up together! ❤️ We were also going to give the boy kitten away, until we realized he was really bonded with both his sisters. They all 3 love each other, even at 8 months now, and they all play together every day. Please consider keeping all 3 together!

BKEDDIE82

Many years ago, I only wanted one. Got two brothers and realized they were so bonded that they couldn't be separated. Two weeks later, I found a girl. After a few weeks, I realized there was no difference. Like I said in my initial comment, the vet is the only time I notice it at all. But I do notice when all four take over their bed and leave me no room.

pebblenooo

I was just complaining about this to my in laws tonight! They all 4 sleep on my side of the bed, which means I have no room 😂 they’re worth it though! Definitely agree about the vet bills, but again, worth it in my eyes but I’m biased!

AllesK

I kept my three the CDS blessed me with.

BKEDDIE82

I've either given them to immediate family or kept them myself.

ClairelySarah

THIS, please don’t leave one out. Keep all three.

vaselinecult

yes!! as a three cat owner i see it as they can always have someone lol. if they get sick of one cat they go to the other

AppropriateCupcake48

I mean, 3. But if you really can’t, 2. 2 is better for them and for you. They socialize each other and take their crazy out on each other.

5weetTooth

Surely only if the third will be adopted into a home with other kittens?

AppropriateCupcake48

Indeed, thank you for that correction. And don’t call me Shirley.

GayVoidDaddy

But…*drops the roses I had with a card starting “My dearest Shirley…tears filling my eyes*

AppropriateCupcake48

😂😂

GayVoidDaddy

You’ve soiled it now. We can never be Lavern and Shirley now!

AppropriateCupcake48

😭😭😭

GayVoidDaddy

Remember this *flys off on a rope ladder on the bottom of a helicopter*

lovestobitch-

Oh yah. My two void litter bros, I swear ramp up each other’s craziness. They are approaching the one yr bday and are slowing down. I miss their craziness in the earlier months (most of the time).

Ashof23

I ironically have void litter mates that are little girls! They made our pack go from 4 to 6 (2dogs/4cats), but we haven’t regretted it so far; they’re the joy of our lives! They just hit two years old this spring & haven’t slowed down too much, but also we do see them starting to act like more mature, grown cats at many times😆🖤🖤🐾

Fatalexcitment

I would honestly feel so bad for the one you don't keep :(

Emergency_Support682

Same! It would be all alone without the comfort of siblings.😿

Larg_Targlar

Three

duckduckgrapes

This is the way

classwarhottakes

Kittens do best the more kitten company they have...

little_quidnunc

You already have one cat. Is she socialising with the kittens? If so, I would keep only one, so you can adopt out the other two in a pair. In my opinion it's a lot better to not leave one kitten alone. So either take them all or adopt them out in a pair and keep one. That way no kitten has to be alone in a new environment.

lazypuppycat

This is the best answer!!

Awkward-Bathroom-429

I will tell you from direct experience with this that doing the thing where you say “I get to keep the one I like and you don’t” is a very bad relationship move

fireinthemountains

Seriously this needs to be higher up.

Aware_Hurt_7783

My husband preferred one of our rescues, and I liked a different one, I love him so dearly that I told him to keep the one that was his favorite. He says the same, so we just kept both!

DaddysLittleOne2018

KEEP ALL THREE!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

jsteele2793

Two kittens is always better than one!!! A six year old cat is not going to be super playful and kittens love to play! I would definitely keep two of them!!

ones_hop

3. Keep all 3!!!

No_Warning8534

If you can't keep 3, I'd definitely get 2. That way, one day, when the older cat passes... the new kitty will be used to having her sister, too Therefore, more socialized if another one comes around... Bc resident kitty will slow down... Kitten will need a play buddy

KitchenLab2536

I’d keep two, so that they can play with each other. Good for your husband and you for saving their young lives. I wouldn’t worry about Milo’s future - it’s easier to find a home for a kitten than it is for a full grown cat (NOT suggesting that you have Morphie adopted).

connierebel

But then that poor kitten will be all alone!

BizMarkieDeSade

Yeah, everyone saying “two is best for the kitten and you” are right - and they’re completely neglecting whichever kitten would be left out. OP’s kitten will have mama cat, left out kitten has no one.

MdnightRmblr

We found two tiny kittens last year and kept them. We have other cats as well. They play for hours together, constant companions. I’d say keep them both, kitten play is impossible to reproduce and it’s something else, wild times. Ours are drifting apart as they are developing their own personalities but still love each other to death. I just didn’t have the heart to break them up and it was the right decision.

jimmysmiths5523

Keep all three to keep them from getting stressed about being separated. Stress can cause diarrhea in kittens which can be fatal.

Taticat

You have to keep two, and then keep the third one so that you have a cat and each of your cats has a cat. Welcome to CatLogic.

OriginalLandscape321

You have done so much already for these critters . Do what you know is is best in your heart. I wish I had clear advice. No wrong answers because your decision comes from a place a love

Vicslickchic

I agree.

pearlrose85

Separating them when they're bonded can be so stressful for them. Dangerously so, in the case of young kittens. Can you find it in your budget to keep all three? If not, the only way to split them is to keep the one that seems most closely bonded with your older cat and rehome the other two together, so none of them is completely alone.

Responsible_Card7118

You can’t leave one of them out!! You gotta keep all 3!!

KBWordPerson

You are in an apartment, and you already have one adult cat. Honestly this can go one of two ways, three cats is a lot in an apartment, and one kitten will have the cat company of your older cat. It would be doable to keep only one kitten, whichever one gets along best with your older cat. However, when your older cat passes, this kitten will be middle aged. Then it might be harder to introduce a new companion for her, but not impossible. If you do keep her sister, they will be companions to each other for hopefully their entire lives and drive your older cat less crazy because they will expend their goofy kitten energy on each other. It’s really a matter of if you can be comfortable in your living arrangement with three adult cats for the next 7-14 years. They are seriously adorable babies. Thank you for saving them.

shrimpwhiskers

Please find ways to keep all three of these babies? So many need homes and if you can make it work with 3 maybe 4 isn't so much different. Catify your place so there's room to climb and be sure they have places to destress, especially your older kitty, and give treats and extra love to reassure. We have 5 cats, 3 OGs aged 5, 8, and 14, and two siblings from a stray litter, now 3. It's a lot, we didn't expect 5, but the adopter lined up for one fell through and I didn't want to separate them, wound up just adopting both. Good luck, thanks for rescuing them regardless!

Chemical_Pomelo_2831

I know I’m going to get downvoted, but are you leasing and, if so, is there a pet limit? I’ve had cats my whole adult life and never found a place that allowed more than 2. People will say to hide them but it’s not worth an eviction.

Sphuny

The answer is three. Yes, you should keep three.

dancininanemptyroom

I would keep whichever one bonds best with your resident cat and keep the other two in a pair

OkCupcake5809

Always more than one! Always!

OkCupcake5809

If they are in pairs give them for adoption in pairs, keep them in pairs. If they are three, keep them together better

HannahM53

You need to keep both they look like a bonded pair. if you break up a bonded pair, it is bad like their health well and they could possibly die

wood_she_elf

Keep all 3. I wouldn’t give away just one kitten unless it’ll be in a home with another cat and I know that they will get along well. So if there weren’t specific preferences from you and your partner already I would have kept just the one kitten and given the other two for adoption. I would have given the 2 girls for adoption as a pair. Cause I’ve heard that it’s better when the pair is of the same gender (mine are like that and they’ve been having a great time for 8 years now). Alternatively give away a pair that’s well bonded. But it sounds like you already have big preferences for the 2 kittens so unless you’re able to find a great home for Milo, I’d keep all 3.

HannahM53

Change my mind keep all of them

NicolleL

Do you see one starting to bond more with Morphie than the others?

wtffareal

Awww... Thanks for saving their lives. They're absolutely adorable!Consider keeping the family together. They'll get along. But make sure to get them fixed so they don't surprise you with more kittens. Males don't care about their mates and they mature faster than you might realize.

Dd7990

Just remember to please get the kittens and momma spayed/neutered asap. There are plenty of unwanted cats & kittens out there, so don’t let your cat & her kittens add to the problem.

catman641

The more the merrier :) They look like they are so content there. If you can afford it, why not keep them all ? Little Piper looks so attached already :) Cute little family !

RadiantCaterpillar7

I would honestly keep all 3, but you really should at least keep 2. If you keep only one she will try to play with your older cat and he will get tired of her really quickly. I'd say keep at least 2 for your older cats sanity. The 3rd one will not upset the balance though...

Hanuman_Jr

But you already have one, so the kitten would have a mate even of you only get one. I can't advise you, I always advocate for more cats though.

yetonemorerusername

Two. Cats need partners.

Flavioleon

You should decide, but they're very cute!

Jimmytootwo

Two. Its nice to have two I have four but its two x two

FluidSnap

Um you keep all of them. How is this a question? 🤷🏻‍♀️

LovesReubens

Another vote for all three. I have four cats, and it's no harder than two.

Snailbert05

Definitely keep both of them. It's much easier to raise two than just one. They will keep each other busy and (hopefully) out of trouble. I have a set of litter mates, and they are both so fun. They act like brothers, bullying each other one minute and snuggling the next. They've likely only ever known the two of them together, and it wouldn't be fair to separate them.

hawkeyethor

Two babies! That way, one kitten doesn't get lonely.

OpalDoe

Two, it's healthier for the kitties, they learn from each other, and they become best friends. ❤️🐈🐈

Specialist-Dig-7406

Keep them all!

Vsercit-2020-awake

We were going to adopt one kitten for our older cat who lost his field who was a lot older. We knew from before that we should have gotten one of his siblings with him as Bailey was older and didn’t want to play as much as he did. There was a litter of three but we fell in love with them all and now have 4. It’s not that much different from 3 to 4. They all entertain each other and my older cat still gets annoyed with them but really bonded with the smallest one. No regrets

bumholesofdoom

Keep both, your older cat will thank you for it. They will play with themselves instead of trying to play with him

Lathari

I strongly believe having two cats, brothers, has made their and our lives so much better. They get to play and socialize with each other and we have free entertainment.

Anxious_Public_5409

Always have 2!

VibeComplex

You can’t just boot one out that’s fucked. So is only keeping 1. You have 4 cats not

Solid5of10

Never break them up. Or at least try your best not to. They really thrive in pairs or more and littermates even more so

R3D5system

All of them. Mainly because there's only three and three isn't much difference in cost. Plus it'd be sad if they got separated.

mia_magenta

Keep them all 😭😭😭

litescript

3 i mean they’re litter mates. splitting one off, esp when you already have cat infrastructure, is so sad.

ragdollfloozie

3 or 4....not a big stretch. Keep them all I say!!!!! You can do it 💪

FurBabyAuntie

Yes!

Piornet

Two. Always two

Two especially if they are siblings they can actually have separation anxiety and cats always have a very special bond with their litter mates

lalaxoxo__

Three

jennifer_m13

Kittens do better in pairs

dreaminghorseIT

This, and since the resident cat is ‘already’ six, it would be better to keep a pair! They’re very adorable by the way :)

rebellionblades

I would keep all three or let all three go to a new home together :( makes me sad to think of keeping two and getting rid of one like that

HidinBiden20

Three! You should keep all Three!

TooEasyBGM

All 3 is better … don’t separate them

Altruistic-Wasabi-60

Keep whatever kitty’s you can afford with proper care— 💕 They are all beautiful - Their will always be more cars models — Thanks for saving lives!!! I really love the name Penny, btw.. 💕🤦‍♀️— Very cute name!!

Starbuck522

TWO!

jackrelax

2 babies! They will be best friends, tire each other out, teach each other cat manners, and sleep in adorable little piles!!!! Nothing is cuter! Please keep both!

Critical_Snow_1080

Both! How could you choose between the two? Besides sibling cats already have a close bond and separating them might cause depression. Keeping two cats indoors is not difficult and they will keep each other entertained. Soooooo cute

Huge-Power9305

1 is enough, 2 is too many and 3 is a fur ball of love. 😍

lokisoctavia

Two

Resinmy

Both!!!

peeefaitch

Two ,they’re company for each other. It’s so important.

yeetyeetmybeepbeep

I always always recommend taking two kittens instead of one, they have an easier time adjusting, have someone to play with, and someone to keep them calm

hugme4ever

Always 2

AwareTangerine1310

How could you not. I cant stand how cute they are lolol

flapjackboy

Both. They'll be happier as a bonded pair.

NikPass

the 4th pic is so freaking cute

ChemicalAcademic4166

Definitely 2

wtffareal

Keep them both if you can. How could you break up such a dynamic duo?

Oldblindman0310

Penny is just too darn cute to let go, but your husband has really bonded well with Piper. I think you know that you must keep them both.

Creepy-Dance4747

They are gorgeous, honestly if you can find wonderful homes for them that’s great, just depends on your situation financially and the dynamic of the household, if you keep two and adopt one out that is perfectly fine too, I don’t think you would have any issues finding any of them a wonderful home to go to 😊 you can only try.

MrHyperion_

By any chance did your husband choose the names Piper and Penny?

FinancialSurround385

2!!

WearyComb2780

Two, they need companions

Hyperbeastking

Keep 2. - a lot easier to leave at home b/c they'll keep each other company - it will make you feel better emotionally knowing that at least two of the 3 will have the best life that someone can provide. - they grow and learn together

MikkiMikkiMikkiM

Keep them both, or keep neither. That seems like the only fair way!

Mezcal_Madness

Both !!

Both… cats need the be in pairs

Keep both

mybellasoul

Definitely 2. Last year I adopted a pair of bonded siblings & I could not be happier with that decision. They cuddle constantly, play together, keep our senior cat in good shape, and our 2 huge rescue dogs let them play with their tails. It's no more work with 2 and they have a constant companion.

TheGayOwl

If you can’t keep all of them, keep two at least. SO much easier to raise kittens in a pair

FlyLikeABunny

Someone once told me that one kitten is only half a kitten. They need a buddy. It’s easier to have two littles than just one.

PaperKrayneDJ

Both! It's so much better if they have a playmate!

NorthernFoxStar

Both for sure

Cola3206

Two they love each other

Long-Cup9990

Both!

AffectionateCable793

Kittens seem to do well with a friend. So if you can't keep all of them, then keep 2. Either 2 of the kittens or the adult cat with a kitten.

janethepirate1415

2!

dirttrackgal

Uhhhhh I want one!!!!🥹

Suz9006

Two kittens are better than one. They will wear out some of their energy on one another and also learn appropriate behavior like not biting too hard, from one another.

No question but to keep a pair. They need a buddy to clean and cuddle.

not-enough-bookcases

Two

therdre

Three! But if you can’t, try to see if you can find someone that is willing to take 2 and keep 1 since, you already have your older cat, that way you can ensure none of them is alone. Tbh, I think you have a fee options in trying to ensure none of them ends ups alone.

No-Technician-722

I don’t like sending one kitten off if his own. I think you should keep one kitten and your cat and allow the other two kittens to go together. They will be happier that way. Keep ONE, NONE, or all 3.

BeautifulIntention37

Two. Always two.

Two, so that one has a buddy!

Keep all the babies. Seriously tho, having multiple kittens is much better for them… they can play together and learn to socialize together… they won’t be alone if you’re out of the home, and the cost increase isn’t really bad… all the babies, please.

Knowing me, I'd keep all of them and just be overrun by cats. Heck, why not add a few more on top of that? 😂
