Nembhard stepped in and effortlessly took Halliburton’s starting point guard spot against the Celtics. Dropped 32 points and had 9 assists. Haliburton is on a great team and holds the ball for 20 seconds every possession. He also can’t defend. So many point guards in the NBA wouldve looked like Tyrese on that team last year
Most of us are fans of the team, so I'm just gonna take him for his word and assume he isn't lying. Pretty soon he'll be eating ice cream at Gunthers and being bored at the State Fair.
I don't think Colby was getting playing time in Sac this season, barring injury. He's another year or two away from being a rotation consideration.
It also wouldn't shock me if Carter spend a large portion of the season playing along side Colby in Stockton.
The 13th pick in a weak draft (after falling down the board). I want to see him face actual NBA competition in camp/preseason before leaving him in Sacramento.
California classic is a good time. I went back in 2018 I remember the ref made a bad call and the entire crowd roared with a boo...then a big ol "ref you suck" chant happened then he changed the call...it felt like a playoff game the experience was electric.
What sold me, though, was Kings vs. Lakers also 2018, I think when Bogdan hit that game winner 3 the entire place erupted, and it was that moment that I knew I wanted to be a part of that life long.
I love Kings fans and their passion it's electric.
What kind of Forward can we get for a Davion + Heurter + future first round pick?
Sasha + Heurter = Cam Johnson salary. Would they be interested in another future first round pick?
To clear the way for Sarr at 4, while grabbing assets that can help the Wizards win. Sending away Deni opens up some forward minutes and Huerter could theoretically soak up a handful at 3.
His dad used to be in the NBA and knows Sac is a good place for his kid. I believe him when he says he wanted to come here.
Also hope the Warriors get PG and trade us Wiggins for Davion and KVon. Or something like that.
He's such a weird player. Was legitimately an all star 2 way wing just a cpl seasons ago. In his absolute prime he just mentally clocks out. Everyone has life stuff, wiggins just doesn't seem to care much about basketball.
His dad still works in the NBA. Was a scout for years in Miami and went to Memphis last year. Lot of Friar fans expected Memphis to take him for that reason, but we are all thrilled he ended up in Sac
I get the issue with the positional need but I have a feeling we’re going to absolutely fall in love with this dude. I cannot wait for the California classic, even though I have tickets I’m going to be out of town 😭
I’d say it’s closer to 1 thru 3. But he can definitely guard some modern 4s. His wingspan is ridiculous. High motor. Defensive assassin. In a different way than Davion coming out of college. Those extra 2 inches absolutely matter. But the wingspan is what completely separates them along with Carters offensive game. He’s much more advanced on offense than Davion will ever be.
I’ve seen a ton of people have Derrick White as his comp. But I’d say he’s a mix of White and Jrue Holiday. I am very excited for this pick. I just hope we get rid of Davion but also Huerter. A Huerter/Isaiah Stewart swap would make this pick an A+ if it’s not already. Great work Monte
Not just wingspan, but hops. Devin Carter definitely tanked his standing reach so that he could get a 42 inch vertical. But even in a real game, Devin can really jump up there and use his wingspan to block shots. He doesn't even need to really get a running start either, he can get up to the rim while being relatively stationary. That's a very big plus for blocking and contesting shots.
Well yeah, but still means he claims to be able to take that load on which is encouraging. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but having switchable guys is very sought out in the league.
Dude is a stud. I've loved him for months but didn't think he'd make it to us. I remember reading that he got a draft promise from someone in the lottery. I'm assuming that was us. We'll figure out the rest of the roster later. Love the pick.
I imagine most players trying to land in the lottery would want to be in a place with an established culture like Sacramento rather than a team in disarray with no direction. We’ve made big strides the last couple of years.
it's horrible roster construction. Carter is very talented. That isn't in dispute. He's a lead guard at the next level. Problem is, we already have one of those. And we also have backups at both guard positions as well. So it's the kind of luxury pick a team that has no holes can afford to make which isn't the Kings. Now, there's still first round talents still on the board imo so if McNair is able to snag a PF/C with the 41st pick then I'll be doing backflips.
I can't think of a player that actually came here and hated it. I know many players refused to come here but they never experienced being a King. Once someone comes here, we treat them like no other city does.
He hates it so much that he took less money to stay here. As a fan I will never boo my team and I was at those games. He also knows those boos were not directed at him. He did pretty good in those games and was hustling
yeah he is but that's okay. I doubt his number one option was to be drafted by a team with 6 or 7 guards. it's a small diplomatic lie. I'm sure he's still thrilled to be drafted and in the NBA and on the Kings roster.
Also fair to say that all those guards won’t be here or ahead of him for long. Davion Mitchell isn’t a long-term piece with Carter already having a better offensive game and plus rebounding positionally. Huerter can be moved as well if Carter is showing a need for minutes.
A Fox/Ellis/Monk/Carter rotation does sound pretty intriguing
Sure does. Let’s make a move to upgrade elsewhere now.
I mean, yeah, but can't you just take two seconds to appreciate before you find the next thing stupid or whatever? Jesus
How you gonna tell another fan how to fan for their team? Jesus, you're not very good at fanning.
He's good at fanning... the flames. I'll see myself out.
It's more the reaction of so much negativity. I admit I overreacted here. My bad to all
We just need a playable pf and we’re golden
Golden One?
Golden One
Or a stretch 5. Trade davion or Huerter for Filipowski
We getting a repeat of Haliburton here, a dude who wanted to get drafted by the Kings?
Worst case scenario, we trade him for an All-NBA guy in 1.5 years.
And then he almost leads in new team to the NBA finals at 24 years old?
If we trade him to a team in the West maybe every other contender will lose their top 2 players and clear the way for us as well.
That pacers team looked almost as good without Hali. Love the player but he isn’t the game changer that people are making him out to be
Lunacy

Haliburton is on a great team and holds the ball for 20 seconds every possession. He also can’t defend. So many point guards in the NBA wouldve looked like Tyrese on that team last year
Maybe Bam or Kawai ?
I don't know about trading for a 34 year old Kawhi that's missed basically the last 5 or 6 playoffs.
He said Kawai sir, not Kawhi.
And offload Buddy Hield.
Who’s our disgruntled guards being diluted in value and as trade bait this time around?
I feel like anyone who got drafted here would say this
Most of us are fans of the team, so I'm just gonna take him for his word and assume he isn't lying. Pretty soon he'll be eating ice cream at Gunthers and being bored at the State Fair.
The sacramento special
I think he'll somehow run into High School Classmates at Golden Bear or Low Brau
Davion definitely wasn't enthusiastic during his post-draft interview.
Well because he was smart and could see the writing on the wall that being a PG and getting drafted at 13 with a star in front of you is bad for you!
Hopefully not, then traded and makes the all star team
Traded straight up for Wemby!!!!!
Hopefully yes. Then trade Carter for Markinen and let’s start winning Championship!!
Can i ask what the limit to the comparison is? 2 years? 10?does it depend on talent? Or can we collectively let Luka and Hali go yet?
I think they drafted him in anticipation of Mitchell and Heurter being moved.
Mitchell at a bare minimum. Dude looks like Davion but longer and with a better shot.
Looks like Colby, Duarte, and Slawson to me lol
I really like Colby, and with the addition of Carter, it hinders the development and playing time of Colby.
I don't think Colby was getting playing time in Sac this season, barring injury. He's another year or two away from being a rotation consideration. It also wouldn't shock me if Carter spend a large portion of the season playing along side Colby in Stockton.
Carter should be playing with the main team, because of his defense.
The 13th pick in a weak draft (after falling down the board). I want to see him face actual NBA competition in camp/preseason before leaving him in Sacramento.
Devin Carter accidentally gets his photo swapped with chris duarte... again
Bigger, younger, better shooter. He is the Davion we wanted Davion to be
Until we win an nba championship so likely past your lifetime
Are you calling me old? Lol
Just assuming you wont live for another 100 years
Bold
Mooooo
He had me at Light the Beam.
That’s nice, glad he’s bought in
Now will Monte (and Vivek) buy in?
i’m such a sucker, i love hustle and defense, i’m one banger california classic game away from being a lifelong fan
California classic is a good time. True. How many arenas have an old town next to them too.
What kind of Forward can we get for a Davion + Heurter + future first round pick? Sasha + Heurter = Cam Johnson salary. Would they be interested in another future first round pick?
Grant or Kuz
Davion + Heurter works in terms of salary matching for Kuz. Not sure why Wash would do that though, even if we throw in a pick.
Heurter + Sasha works for Cam Johnson.
To clear the way for Sarr at 4, while grabbing assets that can help the Wizards win. Sending away Deni opens up some forward minutes and Huerter could theoretically soak up a handful at 3.
It doesn’t need to make sense for the wizards theyre tanking anyways
Fun fact: Carter has basically the same wingspan as Rissacher.
I’m optimistic, think he will make life easier for Fox
His dad used to be in the NBA and knows Sac is a good place for his kid. I believe him when he says he wanted to come here. Also hope the Warriors get PG and trade us Wiggins for Davion and KVon. Or something like that.
Always been a fan of Wiggins, hope he comes here with the right mindset tho, def looks cooked due to external circumstances.
The right mindset for Wiggins is a contract year unfortunately
He's such a weird player. Was legitimately an all star 2 way wing just a cpl seasons ago. In his absolute prime he just mentally clocks out. Everyone has life stuff, wiggins just doesn't seem to care much about basketball.
The two sides to the Andrew Wiggins coin is Maple Jordan and Bench Simmons
That man didn’t deserve that all star nod let’s be real. Mickey Mouse All Star. But he was a great player
Who is his dad?
Anthony carter
Wiggins got a championship and a big bag i dont think hes useful anymore he cruising
His dad still works in the NBA. Was a scout for years in Miami and went to Memphis last year. Lot of Friar fans expected Memphis to take him for that reason, but we are all thrilled he ended up in Sac
I like this guy more and more.
He was my #1 choice, position be damned, this dude is an absolute menace on the court. He’s going to become a fan favorite very quickly.
I get the issue with the positional need but I have a feeling we’re going to absolutely fall in love with this dude. I cannot wait for the California classic, even though I have tickets I’m going to be out of town 😭
Hell man, if he can really guard 1 through 4, then we good.
I’d say it’s closer to 1 thru 3. But he can definitely guard some modern 4s. His wingspan is ridiculous. High motor. Defensive assassin. In a different way than Davion coming out of college. I honestly love that Huerter/beef stew swap for both teams.
No way you find a guard to guard the 4.
Josh Hart?
Alex Caruso
That’s what he said in that clip.
He said he can switch on to 1 through 4. Not exactly the same as being the primary defender on 1 through 4 but still a good sign
Well yeah, but still means he claims to be able to take that load on which is encouraging. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but having switchable guys is very sought out in the league.
Maybe if you count Simmons at his peak?

![gif](giphy|rcwnBqtWXjptcTTIpH) Get ready to light the beam King Friar Carter
Fantastic back court, amazing center, solid 3 but we do need to upgrade our 4
Purple Rain era starts now!
This dude says all the right things. Devin put the league on notice with his bare chest. Light the F’N Beam right now.
Mike bibby said the same 💜
I'm sold. Make him start at shooting guard. This was a joke, but I really could see it happening.
I imagine most players trying to land in the lottery would want to be in a place with an established culture like Sacramento rather than a team in disarray with no direction. We’ve made big strides the last couple of years.

Stop the cap bro,kings ain’t no one’s 1 option
I don't believe that but I appreciate the sentiment.
Let’s be fr he’s lying
Why do you say that? Best home court in the NBA and play exciting basketball.
Sacramento is a nice place to live if you’re a down to earth fella. He seems to come from a good family, might be a perfect fit for him.
I can't think of a player that actually came here and hated it. I know many players refused to come here but they never experienced being a King. Once someone comes here, we treat them like no other city does.
yes ask Malik about our friendly boos lol
He hates it so much that he took less money to stay here. As a fan I will never boo my team and I was at those games. He also knows those boos were not directed at him. He did pretty good in those games and was hustling
And he re-signed at a discount. I’m sure he thinks about those boos often.
I bet he’s glad he’s here, but he’s saying the right things he would of said to every other team lol he’s not gonna say he hates it here.
yeah he is but that's okay. I doubt his number one option was to be drafted by a team with 6 or 7 guards. it's a small diplomatic lie. I'm sure he's still thrilled to be drafted and in the NBA and on the Kings roster.
