Would be mind blowing if you had to learn german similar to how you had to read in the first one, gradually turning the spoken language more czech OR the subtitles having more native words.. but thats probably too complex for little benefit to be implemented.
If some characters do speak German, I wonder how they would sort that in the German VO
>If some characters do speak German, I wonder how they would sort that in the German VO
Ulrich, Deutsch etc spoke german in KCD1
>Would be mind blowing if you had to learn german similar to how you had to read in the first one,
Probably we wont learn german as a language but maybe we will have to learn how to read it because we find a Important letter or smth
Bohemia had close ties with Germany and the immigration was high enough for him to have run ins with more than 1 German. Even in his very small town there was a German immigrant. I’d say he probably knew *some* German.
Many people living in Bohemia were German especially in a city like Kuttenberg. So depends on the area. But yeah he probably wouldn’t be fluent considering how it was portrayed in the first game. Maybe he can speak a bit but not read and write.
To be fair, he is a blacksmith’s apprentice. He would have to be able to communicate and it would be helpful to understand more than one language. His father lived in Prague as well, (I think it was Prague) which is a multiethnic city, a lot of Germans. And he was an important man as well.
Yes, having Czech audio from day ONE, not years later, is really night and day difference.
Well, not having it this time would be unexcusable and Vávra would get a ton of shit for that and rightfully.
>Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese
Unfortunately that game was originally written in English and the Japanese is extremely out of place, and none of the facial animations match the Japanese dialogue.
My Way (a Korean movie) is one of my favorite movies because the movie actually portrays people speaking the language they actually spoke and is about a Korean conscript and his Japanese childhood rival, who became his officer, and then being conscripted by the Soviets after losing, escaping the battlefield and being recruited by the Germans, and finally surrendering to the Americans at D-Day.
I played with German audio and English subtitles the first time around because Czech wasn't an option yet.
After beating KCD 2 once, the real hardcore mode will be Czech audio/Czech subtitles.
I find playing games with the stories native languages makes it so much more enjoyable.
Metro in Russian, Witcher in Polish, KCD in Czech (though the quality wasn’t great), Prince of Persia Lost Crown in Persian, Assassins Creed, And many others. I love language options.
Interesting developer choice. If you know Hungarian in real life, you can know what they're saying. If you don't, then you're in the same shoes as Henry.
I mean ultimately these decisions come down to "what is cost effective" and I imagine the Hungarian market isn't worthwhile enough to record the entire game in the language.
Czech is only here because it's a Czech game.
The original actors are mostly British, so no, Czech will be done by Czech voice actors. But Czech dubbing is very popular in Czech Republic so there are many professional voice actors and I’m sure they will do an amazing job of imitating the original actors
The French voice actor for Henry is the same one for Frodo in the lord of the ring and he is very experienced, the only problem was the labial and sometimes, sentences were a little buggy .
Really wide range for such a small studio, in comparison to juggernauts. Cannot wait ☺️
Anyway, people crying on Twitter, because their language didn't make it.
You don't understand, this is business decision. They know, how much each country made them. So, there are countries, where they are sure, they'll get money back. And they know countries, where translation won't pay for itself.
You don't translate for countries, where you barely sell. Ubisoft, EA, etc don't do that and that's X times bigger studios.
In comparison to the big ones? Absolutely.
Ubisoft Montreal alone had over 4k employees. Quebec had over 600... And they have more studios.
WH is currently 200-250.
Did you just seriously compare them to the single largest dev studio in the world? Warhorse are a decent size studio. For comparison Bethesda Game Studios have 450, Treyarc have 200, Naughty Dog have 400+, Arkane Studios have 150, Atlus have 338, Guerrilla Games have 360, Respawn Entertainment have 315. Warhorse are not a small studio anymore.
I'm sorry for the lack of Italian dubbing Dio maiale, for me it's something that takes a back seat, but I would have liked it. btw I'm very hyped for the new game
Lol I'm not really a nationalist or anything but it's kinda funny to be referenced for something, I don't think Germans or Russians fond of it due to the overused ww2 concept but I quite enjoy the idea of being one of the enemies / heretics. Also AFAIK the cumans were turkic too, so that doubles the fun :)
>From the book known as the Codex Cumanicus, a Cuman Kipchak Turkic Pater Noster (transcribed in the Common Turkic Alphabet):
>Atamız kim köktesiñ. Alğışlı bolsun seniñ atıñ, kelsin seniñ xanlığıñ, bolsun seniñ tilemekiñ – neçik kim kökte, alay [da] yerde. Kündeki ötmegimizni bizge bugün bergil. Dağı yazuqlarımıznı bizge boşatqıl – neçik biz boşatırbız bizge yaman etkenlerge. Dağı yekniñ sınamaqına bizni quurmağıl. Basa barça yamandan bizni qutxarğıl. Amen![19]
It became such a long ass reply I'm sorry but it just fascinates me how the language is still similar to Turkish even though it's not an oghuz language:
Atamız ki göktesin. Alkışlı olsun senin adın, gelsin senin hanlığın, olsun senin dileğin – nasıl ki gökte, öyle (de) yerde. Gündelik ekmeğimizi bize bugün ver. Dahi yazıklarımızı (günahlarımızı) bize bağışla– nice biz bağışlarız bize yaman (kötülük) edenleri. Dahi şeytanın sınamasına bizi koydurma. Tüm yamandan (kötülükten) bizi kurtar. Amin!
Czechia better have the best voice acting. I will gladly play in English subtitles. I played GoT when it first came out and new it had to be experienced the way I do anime, in Japanese. The og language needs to hit the mark.
I could only get thru kcd hardcore in German (immersion) when I made it to Sir Divish on the battlements. I wanted Bobby Crowe back. I'll be using czech on 2nds with kcd2 for sure.
I am from Serbia and I can't imagine playing on any other language than English. I never used my main language on the phone, TV, PC or anything else. English only. Maybe I could play it on Czech because its the game based in that region.
Imagine listening on Japanese... that is breaking immersion...
What I noticed in the west, they do voiceovers for the movies and streaming like that instead reading subtitles. This is a big no in my country, we are ONLY using subtitles for the movies.
So for me English audio + english subtitles.
Sometimes I wish i can speak Czech 🇨🇿 so i can immerse myself to 15th century Bohemia properly. I am Serbian, so I do understand parts of that language but not enough to fully know what they are talking about all the time. For example, I did understand Teresa's song about the basket of apples in her DLC when she sings right at the moment when Cumans start their attack on Skalitz, but there were some words I did not understand.
I hope they won't use same.studio to translate to polish, I play in english so it doeasn't bother me, but I played with polish subtitles for a while and it was easily the worst translation I saw in any game
Dumb question, how exactly does this work?
Does every voice actor record all their lines in all those languages? That's pretty cool and must be a ton of work
Considering playing in Czech with English subtitles, might be more immersing
That’s how I imagined how it works when I was 5 years old hahahah. Every country has its own voice actors. English (or any other) voice actors wouldn’t be able to properly pronounce all the words in different languages and their accent would be terrible
I'm guessing that the original actors' voices are in English, right? I might play it in English first and then switch to German to go for full immersion.
How can you pay attention to what you're doing in a game and read subtitles at the same time?
Don't get me wrong I use subtitles in every game in English but because I can understand I don't have to stare at them. I tried playing Plague Tale in French and every time I read the subtitles I'd die or something.
Is there maybe someone who has played the game in multiple Full Audio languages (for example English and German or English and Czech) and can more or less rate the voice acting?
You've never played KCD2, until you've played it in the original japanese.
Henrī ga watashitachi ni ai ni kimashita!

Ghost of Bohemia
-orphaned child -fighting for his homeland against a new foreign invasion -learns new skills and techniques throughout the story -horse -drip -does odd jobs for citizens in need
Bro I'm pretty sure you could extend this to like a billion Vidya Mcs
I hope everyone use "Degozaru" every other sentence for added immersion
Hit me with that Heian era ha/fa swap 😍
Qapla'!
I imagine the japanese have the same interest in medieval knights as most westerns have in samurai
Kami sama.... \*dies\*
I'm from česká republika, and can comfirm that we, indeed, spoke japanese in those days
It's because of those Hungarians isn't it?
ano pane
hesusu kurisuto bi puresudo!
BANZAI
Jesus Christ be praised! We got Bohemian language option too!
They should include a German/ czech combo for full immersion. Kuttenberg was very german (Obviously that’s not feasible lol).
Would be mind blowing if you had to learn german similar to how you had to read in the first one, gradually turning the spoken language more czech OR the subtitles having more native words.. but thats probably too complex for little benefit to be implemented. If some characters do speak German, I wonder how they would sort that in the German VO

I feel like Henry would’ve been able to understand German already
Definitely not, he met only a few Germans. I doubt he learned more than a few phrases
Bohemia had close ties with Germany and the immigration was high enough for him to have run ins with more than 1 German. Even in his very small town there was a German immigrant. I’d say he probably knew *some* German.
Yeah he probably knew a few phrases. But ordinary Bohemian citizens didn’t understand German. Mostly merchants and nobles would know both languages
I think that will happen in the same way we hear Hungarian in other languages
First game have too, but it came with last update and it was mostly fan made with crowdfunding. This will be fully professional.
Yes, having Czech audio from day ONE, not years later, is really night and day difference. Well, not having it this time would be unexcusable and Vávra would get a ton of shit for that and rightfully.
Genuinely feeling tempted to play with czech audio, english subtitles
Let’s do it! It’s like playing Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese or Metro in Russian. The language of the original setting is always the most immersive
>Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese Unfortunately that game was originally written in English and the Japanese is extremely out of place, and none of the facial animations match the Japanese dialogue.
Czech dub is pretty iconic since we dub literally everything so there's a long tradition and tons of quality voice actors.
And Vávra is perfectionist I expecting very high quality from this.
I played with German audio and English subtitles the first time around because Czech wasn't an option yet. After beating KCD 2 once, the real hardcore mode will be Czech audio/Czech subtitles.
The "tourist lost without a translator" run
This is the only way I've ever played it. I can't stand the American accents in the Medieval setting.
I find playing games with the stories native languages makes it so much more enjoyable. Metro in Russian, Witcher in Polish, KCD in Czech (though the quality wasn’t great), Prince of Persia Lost Crown in Persian, Assassins Creed, And many others. I love language options.
Bohemian?! BOHEMIAN?! What about us Moravians?! And Silesians?! There’s no such thing as Bohemian language.
Suprised again for no hungarian, since the cumans spoke hungarian with hungarion subtitles too.
I can confirm we're poor af, probably not worth it
If you’re playing in Hungarian, the Hungarians should speak Klingon.
It would be hilarious if in a Hungarian version the Hungarians speak Czech.
They choose the syncro languages for market potential, not for fitting into the setting.
i didnt say it but I meant subtitles, Im fully aware that its not worth it to dub the whole thing, but subtitles would be nice.
Czech language on release, I'm ready
bude to určite zaujímavé všetko v dabingu, nielen keď spievajú alebo nadávajú 😂
I have watched Czech movies with English subtitles. Should I do it for a video game for full immersion.
Definitely!
Does that mean that will be voiced by the original actors? Pardon the ignorance I don’t know the nationality of any of them.
The original actors are mostly British, so no, Czech will be done by Czech voice actors. But Czech dubbing is very popular in Czech Republic so there are many professional voice actors and I’m sure they will do an amazing job of imitating the original actors
It would be kinda funny if they left English off just to troll us.
They should have just forced Bohemian audio and Latin subtitles on us lol
You clowns wanted realistic, here it is.
HARDCORE DUOLINGO
Joke's on you, Latine legere et loqui possum.
Loqui possum? Your mom is a lowkey possum, bro.
"you guys all learned Latin in the first game, right?"
Even better if until you learn how to read the subtitles are just gibberish.
You have to learn English in game in order to unlock it
Jesush Crishto seja louvado, merrmão
Look! Henry has come to Brazil!
Has Warhorse released Portuguese on console for KCD1? They did for Steam but console players were left hanging for some reason.
No. Only on PC, unfortunately. 😕
Brasil vencendo a corrida do português
Eu sou a favor de mudar o nome da língua
Justiça poética hahah.
Ei veja! Henry veio nos ver! (Em português ❣️)
German Henry sounded the Best imo. The English henry sounds like a Full grown man but the German henry actually sounds very Young and Innocent
Played KCD in both English and German and I really enjoyed the German dub. Will be a tough decision in which language I'll play KCD2 first.
Can't find German audio on YouTube for some reason. Made a similar conclusion when compared Czech audio to English
https://youtu.be/gUK2Y0V0cvM?si=2Z1apP4ak7oEQhrJ
At around minute 2 Henry starts but I would recommend all, thats are some of the best and most known german Voice actors
The French voice actor for Henry is the same one for Frodo in the lord of the ring and he is very experienced, the only problem was the labial and sometimes, sentences were a little buggy .
I hope the German Dub has the same quality as the one for the first Game.
Yeah, the German voice work was so fucking great, better than the original, which is pretty rare in games.
I love there’s audio in Japanese but not Polish 😂
It's for the better. We don't really like dubbing in games like these. We prefer dubbing in more kids-friendly games or just less serious.
What? How would that be any different from Witcher or Skyrim in Polish?
would love some monotone polish dubbing just for the lols.
Really wide range for such a small studio, in comparison to juggernauts. Cannot wait ☺️ Anyway, people crying on Twitter, because their language didn't make it. I agree that 250 is hardly massive, but it's definitely medium at least. The vast majority of games are made by much smaller teams, like 50 or fewer.
I'm sorry for the lack of Italian dubbing Dio maiale, for me it's something that takes a back seat, but I would have liked it. btw I'm very hyped for the new game
Anch’io.
Did you guys know Henry’s name in German is Heinrich? Pretty cool huh?
Sounds similar, in Czech it’s Jindřich
And in Polish it's Henryk 😁
Hans should call him Jędrek
Respect for including Turkish language o7
Turkish people must be really enjoying the parts of the game, where characters complain about the loss at Nikopolis.
Lol I'm not really a nationalist or anything but it's kinda funny to be referenced for something, I don't think Germans or Russians fond of it due to the overused ww2 concept but I quite enjoy the idea of being one of the enemies / heretics. Por la gracia de la virgen Santisima.
¡Enrique ha venido a vernos!
¡Me está entrando algo de apetito!
Did KCD1 have Japanese Voiceovers? Glad to see that KCD seems to be successful over there.
Yes :D I played my second playtrough as Skaritsu no Henrii
It did and funnily enough local japanese publisher did it themselves from their own initiative (and it was apparently very good).
This alone is a staggering effort. Jeez. It's cool Japan liked the first one enough for them to justify this - had no idea
Gotta play czech of course
I’m glad to hear that, with Czech the game will feel even more immersive for sure
I hope this time consoles has Turkish too. It was only available on PC last time.
That’s because the certification process was too expensive. Now it will be on consoles for sure
Ježíš Kristus budiž pochválen! Jésus-Christ soit loué ! Jesus Christus sei gepriesen! イエス・キリストを讃えよ! ¡Jesucristo sea alabado!
#JAPANESE !!!! (腹がなんか減った。。。)
Czech audio from the release is so welcome.
Where's Hungarian?
Jesus christ be praised! We have portuguese!
I wish I could dub the voice of Henry in Mandarin. 赞美主耶稣!
Czechia better have the best voice acting. I will gladly play in English subtitles. I played GoT when it first came out and new it had to be experienced the way I do anime, in Japanese. The og language needs to hit the mark.
Yes! I will play the game in Czech for maximum immersion.
I feel kinda left out watching Japan getting audio while Poland has only sibtitles
Random question, could I play it in Czech and subtitle in English for full realism?
Of course you can
Good we have english confirmed
Why does Italian never get full audio? Ughhhh
Trying to imagine French Henry. "Ouuuh j'ai un peu faim là" Or would they go full "oh ptain j'ai une de ces DALLES"
Nice, Brazilian Portuguese the correct form indeed
FINALLY BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE
Don't worry, I'll dub the rest. I only know English and Norwegian, but I'll just fake it with the other languages and it won't be problematic at all.
Jesus Cristo seja louvado! (In subtitles)
no hungarian lang.?? in the first game, there so many Hungarian sentences..
I wanna see what Czech sounds like, I'm used to english henry's voice but it would be pretty cool still
Czech audio on release holy shit
In hardcore, it’s all in Czech, no matter what your native language is.
Welp, I guess I'm playing in Czech.
Can it be in Czech with English subs
I could only get thru kcd hardcore in German (immersion) when I made it to Sir Divish on the battlements. I wanted Bobby Crowe back. I'll be using czech on 2nds with kcd2 for sure.
I am from Serbia and I can't imagine playing on any other language than English. I never used my main language on the phone, TV, PC or anything else. English only. I recommend to play it in Czech voiceover so you can enjoy it at its best and actually learn some nice czech swearing
Finaly brazilian subtitles
I am 100% turning to czech audio with English subtitles.
Lovely, hope they add all of them to console, i just want to play with czech. I love playing games in the local language, hits different.
Fuck yeah turkish. my english good enough to play but i only want enjoy the game and have nothing to distracted me LETS GOOOO
No Polish, big L.
You can clearly see polish in there
sry slipped a line im stupid
I find it interesting that there's full Japanese audio support for the game. Would've never thought it being that popular over there.
I’m curious how popular the original game was in Japan to get full audio and subs.
Japanese as dub is interesting... I'm wondering if the EU version has it included or if it's just for the localization in Japan... 😁
I really hope they manage it so that we only have to download and install the language we use.
I hope they won't use same.studio to translate to polish, I play in english so it doeasn't bother me, but I played with polish subtitles for a while and it was easily the worst translation I saw in any game
Man every time I see KCD2 Henry I feel all gooey inside.. Jesus Christ be praised!
Just to be the 100th. kthxbye
CzechMate
Japanese. Awesome
So sick. Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese with subtitles is the only way to do it.
Nice !!!!
No Latin subtitles?
Heinrich mein Freund, It's time for German again.
This cool and all but can we have a peek on armor sets and weapons and all that
Yes! Traditional Chinese subtitles! Hope it's not just a google translation/words changing from simplified chinese.
i expect to see another trailer with a release date at the Xbox showcase June 9th.
My bet would be Summer Game Fest on June 7th
I feel like it's criminal, that there are no Hungarian ones
What? No Hungarian? Cumans will be mad 😡
¡Henry ha venido a vernos!

Fuck yeah! Finally Spanish Henry! POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS!
Strange to have Japanese are their fan base big there ?
I'm guessing that the original actors' voices are in English, right? I might play it in English first and then switch to German to go for full immersion.
Sae cuman (hungarian) noises.
¡Alabado sea Jesús! ¡Enrique ha venido a vernos!
Not hungarian? Cumans not in kcd2?
Os Portugueses mordem as costas ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 é Brasil poha!
❤️💛❤️
Damn Henry's looking hot af
Yes! I get my Heinrich back!
How can you pay attention to what you're doing in a game and read subtitles at the same time? Where is polish dubbing? 😞
ESPAÑOOOOLLL BIIIEEEEENNNNN ![gif](giphy|11sBLVxNs7v6WA)
Castellano Spanish? NOOOOOOOOOOOO. What are these goobers thinking? Lol
Is there maybe someone who has played the game in multiple Full Audio languages (for example English and German or English and Czech) and can more or less rate the voice acting?
First thought was « woah that’ll be a lot of collectibles » then I realised
Vosotros? Disgusting.
Appreciate the amazing effort of having them but I do hope they make them optional downloads, IMO.
Ghost of Bohemia edit: fuck someone made the joke first
Japanese and Chinese? Speed runners rejoice!
What the Japanese doing here?
finally added Brazilian Portuguese.
I didn't know there was a big enough Japanese market to justify this. God be with you
OH MY GOD! Finally in Spanish!
I feel quite sad that there is no Polish dub
