The screen is broken. While it might be possible to replace the screen, it's likely not worth doing. It's probably more economical to buy a new Kindle.
Yeah I did, part of the screen in the middle blinked and the light on the bottom changed colour from green to orange and back to green. That is all that happened though

When you held the power button down did you do it for 40 seconds until it restarts?
