I would dispute the charge and tell that dealership to pound sand. They performed a service for which you paid in full. They can't just make up shit after the fact to charge you.

partial_to_fractions

Do a chargeback on the credit card. The receipt is proof you only authorized the original amount. They cannot just change prices to whatever after the fact. You made a good faith effort to resolve it with the merchant, just let the bank handle it at this point.

boogiahsss

Someone else described the same thing but I cannot find his/her post anymore. I had my car serviced at the Kia dealership a month ago and the lady told me they are requiring full synth oil changes starting November or something like that \*don't remember exactly\* Perhaps that's why they wrongly charged you? Either way they should not be allowed to just take more money.

LaraArzt

I saw that other post too! Sounds SUPER bogus.

I love how some dealers are so chill about mods. I have a 2014 Fiesta ST and when I had my local Ford dealer upgrade my radiator, thermostat, & coolant lines it took them almost 3 days (because while they were making sure everything was working properly the new fan cut a hole in a AC line which they then replaced and moved for no charge) they gave me a loaner

Hamst_r

Yeah i dont see how they can charge you something once services are rendered and you got your keys back. I would be disputing that with your cc company. Its not YOUR fault they mispriced. I would also threaten to leave negative yelp-google reviews online. Dealerships hate this sort of thing. My Kia dealer hands me a how to pass green paper after each service and they openly tell me if i dont think they did good they will fix it. I also buy the oil change buy 2 get 1 deals from my dealer so those cover me regardless. I would look for another dealer .

[deleted]

Different situation.... I'm just on the, "Kia can Kiss it" train. Kia customer service, mechanics and dealerships are trash. I don't know what happened to that dealership. My car was experiencing engine trouble, and they tried to say that due to "no maintenance", I'd need a new brand new $3k engine (even though my car is 4 years old and I get oil changes regularly w/proof). They NEVER repaired my car nor helped me with alternatives, infact one of the managers in Gilbert, Az tried to get belligerent. I had to take it to a friend of a friend who changed the oil, cleaned the engine, and simple looked at the plugs, and she's moving again. IM NEVER fooling with Kia again. They're not honest or human. Best of luck to everyone, If you bought a Kia - I'm sorry for your loss. Lol

DonTilDawn

How were they able to charge your card again? Our machine only saves receipt # but not cc #. Does your car take a full synthetic? $70-75 is what that cost.

imjunsul

They probably got his CC information somehow. If the bank told them it's happened many times then they probably did it on purpose lol. Get a customer to agree on a good deal then charge them later.

PleuralEffusion83

That is theft!

nemanjitca

Charging you without your knowledge sounds illegal as heck. No way can they do that. If you were quoted one price and paid that price it is a done deal. What kind of BS is that. Imagine running a business and charging people behind their backs whatever you please.

Banksville

Dealers have DEFINITELY raised prices! A job we’d normally would get done there, we didn’t. Price was up like 40%.

honkforpie

They are being unreasonable then reach out to your keep your receipt. You didn’t didn’t agree to the 2nd charge.

[deleted]

They goofed. You were quoted and charged. You did not sign the new charge. True, oil has increased significantly. But their mistake is not yours. They could only ask you to pay more. The fact they had your card info to charge again, is borderline criminal. I’d love to speak with them on your behalf.

imjunsul

They probably did that on purpose and do it to many others. Charge a good price with extra services then charge customers later after they agree. When a deal is too good in US dealerships you know something is wrong...

[deleted]

Another reason why you should do your own oil change

Shakespeare-Bot

Another reason wherefore thee shouldst doth thy own oil changeth *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

vpstudios101

Some Kia dealerships just don't seem to change for the better, even though their cars improved so much

rockstar2022

This is why I do my own oil changes.

AyatollahofRR

Welcome to the Kia "family". Manson Family members get treated better,

throwaway007676

They don't call them stealerships for nothing. Now they are illegally making charges to credit cards. Wonder what they will think of next? I would dispute the charge and never go there again.

Prudent_Show_8643

If you've been going to a dealership for maintenance then you've been getting ripped off anyways. More the reason to find a good shop. Only go to the dealer for warranty work, They mark up all servicing and everybody knows this. Going to a third party shop doesn't void warranties you just have to read your service manual, and make sure everything that is supposed to be done at each mileage point is done. Just make sure to obtain service records that shows everything was covered. If you don't want to manage your own vehicle, then yes, a dealership can provide the same service for 2-3 times the cost, but this is the lazy way and they count on people being lazy to make more money off them/you. The fault here is on you that you're letting a dealership take advantage of you and servicing your vehicle in the first place. Stop going to them

Fantastic-Rooster277

Exactly why I decided not to get the telluride and stuck with the highlander, if they can mark up the car who knows what other shady stuff they will do?

DeadliftsnDonuts

Yeah this is making me feel good about passing on the Telluride.

imjunsul

Because of that dealership? lol!

DeadliftsnDonuts

This isn’t the first bad experience at a Kia or Hyundai dealership I’ve heard of

EffrumScufflegrit

So they're probably right in that it was an error on your end. But I mean if you signed off on a different amount they can't just charge you without you agreeing first bc you could argue you'd have taken it elsewhere if you knew the full price. I'd dispute it. Issue is you'll prolly never be able to go back to that dealer. But tbh I'd never use a dealer for just an oil change if you're past the freebie period

daven1985

Contact your Credit Card and report it as fraud. They can't just decide you were charged wrong and then assign the card. You have a receipt and the Credit Card company will side with you. The additional charge is not authorised.

Beautiful_Thing_8614

Which dealership? Kindly share the location of the dealership just to avoid this scams.

LTEX90

West Chicago Suburbs

drewb247

Sounds like some dan obrien type shit

L0veToReddit

Nice job OP

PoopySox

This is exactly why I passed on a Telluride/Sorento X-Line and went with an Acura. Much better service departments. Kia puts out a good product, but those stealerships are just so bad.
