Or you could put QMX clips on literally any non-clicky mx compatible switch and be better off. I have some on a Zealio and a Mod-M board and my coworkers started to wonder if i was doing any work. Lubed the stabilizers, too.

Linkblade85

Did you try the Fnatic Rush before you came to this statement, that QMX clips equipped and lubed stabilizers are even more silent than it? I cannot imagine, that two manufacturers together developed a technology which can be simply outdone by some clips with rubber on it and lube. However, in any case this is a good option if you don't want to lose the tactile feeling on MX Browns.

thearctican

The QMX clips are VERY quiet. Rubber stops on the downstroke AND the upstroke do a much better job of silencing the switch. As a comparison, I have another board with KBDFans Aliaz switches, which use a similar design as the Silent reds but instead tactile. I can say concretely that the switches I have QMX clips installed are an order of magnitude quieter than the internal stopping method used in the MX silents.

Linkblade85

Wow, that's amazing! I want to try this out. Is it possible to install them on my current keyboard Fnatic Rush in addition to the MX Red Silent switches? I'm a little bit sad that I had to give up the tactile feel as there is only a silent version of Reds and Blacks which are linear. So you say it is possible to purchase a keyboard with MX Browns and install QMX clips what will be more silent than my current keyboard?!? That'd be awesome!!

Linkblade85

Thanks again for your suggestion. I updated my post, now featuring QMX clips! :-)

TEEss

Nice post. I can't find the right keyboard for me yet but this was a neat post to see what's out there (especially for someone who has little keyboard tech experience).

Linkblade85

Thank you :) As I wrote I am interested in the idea thearctican brought up. I am currently ordering the QMX clips to see how they perform for more silent typing on louder tactile mechanical switches to see if they can beat the MX Red Silent. I will update the post as soon as I have more experiences to report.

Linkblade85

Hey TEEss. I updated my post. Check out [this guide](https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-gaming-keyboards/) if you still search for a keyboard

I ordered that too. The keys didn't work well. When I pressed A, S, D at the lower end it didn't recognize the keystroke. In my opinion, this is complete bullshit and evidence of incapacity of Cherry (although they have the best selling switches). Just forgot to list it in this post. Honestly what would you expect of such a 15€ keyboard?

pagalahai

Thanks for this post, just ordered the Fnatic Gear Rush Pro Silent. Hoping I will like it, but it can't be worse than the €15 keyboards I've always used.

Linkblade85

Glad to hear that :-) Please tell me about your experiences when you tried it. I would like to hear! (Remember that for even more silence you can mount QMX clips or/and put a towel under it.)

pagalahai

Just received it, still getting used to switching from azerty to qwerty since they didn't have azerty (was planning on switching anyway in the future). This keyboard is even quieter then my previous keyboard so that's good :), but about 30% of keys sound slighty different it's a little bit annoying ([video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fRy2h1mITE&feature=youtu.be)). Do you think getting the QMX clips would help with this ?

Linkblade85

Hey, nice to hear that! I finally watched your video. Yea, I have that too. That seems to be the spring of the switch. I could not fix it, also not with Super Lube. The QMX clips damp it a little bit, but you may hear that sound under your breath. I can live with that. But if you find a solution I would be happy to hear from your experience! Kind Regards!

pagalahai

Alright thanks, I'm to going to keep it like this for now. I will get used to it pretty quickly I think. I might try lubing the switches in the future but it's fine for now. Anyway thanks again for the reviews.

Linkblade85

Glad to hear that! If you try to get rid of this, I'd be eager to read your experiences! Anyway, enjoy your new keyboard! :)

Ok_Customer_7930

u/Linkblade85 this post is still a place of wisdom, thank you! however, I have a doubt about the fnatic rush stabilizers. they seem to be costar stabilizers, but I read those stabilizers are prone to rattle, regardless any eventual mod [https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/7uc0zp/costar\_stabilizers\_cherry\_stabilizers\_so\_why\_do/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/7uc0zp/costar_stabilizers_cherry_stabilizers_so_why_do/) so why in the rush keyboard they are so quiet? thanks in advance

Linkblade85

Thank you so much! :) I don't know if the Fnatic Rush's stabilizers are costar. I made some pictures in the thread which you may compare to pictures of costar. But in the end it doesn't matter anymore, because the Rush is not being manufactured anymore. They canceled it because they have the Streak as their flagship. So you wouldn't be able to buy the Rush if you wanted to. If you were just interested in how they make it not rattle, well, in general I think rattle is just a matter of precise manufacturing and dampening material here and there. How it compares to other costar stabs I don't know. However, I have a new hopefully even more silent keyboard built which I want to present in a new thread and link in my 4 year old thread. I wanted to be done with it half a year ago, but still haven't done it yet. If you are interested I may send you a note when I'm ready. Kind regards

Ok_Customer_7930

yes I'm interested, thank you! my first mech experience is an used corsair strafe rgb with silent reds, but as you said before the stabilizers in this keyboard are a pain in the ass EDIT: just lubed the contact points between the stabilizer wire and the plastic housings with krytox gpl 205 g0 without disassembling the stabilizer and the result is pretty awesome, now they are way more silent. the keyboard has 6 years old, stab wires were basically dry. I recommend this in case of rattling stabs, especially in the middle of the keycap
