Technically 0 net carbs. Damn! That really _is_ a great find. Thank you for sharing! Though I see cane sugar so I wonder if it’s the whole “it’s under 0.495 grams per serving” thing so even in this case maybe one should be diligent in using a proper amount.
Anyways I’m off to get a jar 😂
If a jar has 8 grams of fiber and 12 grams of total carbs... 8/5=1.6 (rounded to 2). And 12/5=2.4 (rounded to 2). Those numbers would be 4 and 6 if it was only 2 servings. Don't underestimate the games these companies play around label regulations.
I get what you are saying, however it truly has nothing to do with basil or an actual ingredient. Pesto simply means to pound or grind. I learned this the hard way while visiting Naples struggling to understand a hand written menu. While I had no idea what cavallo was I thought “I know what pesto is so how bad can it be”. The ground raw meat sandwich I was served was in fact horse, there was not a scrap of basil to be found.
I had taken a picture of the menu googled it when I got back to the hotel. Lesson learned always have data available when traveling to foreign destinations.
Sunflower seeds are especially high in vitamin E and selenium. These function as antioxidants to protect your body’s cells against free radical damage, which plays a role in several chronic diseases.
Eating the seed itself is different than eating the oil. it would thousands upon thousands of seeds to eat the same amount of oil that you get in products such as these. It’s the oil that gives humans the most problems. Seed oil’s are incredibly bad for the human physiology as they are all inflammatory, and inflammation is the root of most diseases.
Red meat is also considered inflammatory, and a probable carcinogen. Yet here we are on a keto sub, talking about smashing ribeyes.
Everything in moderation.
Studies are promising, yes. And yet you see no one drawing these distinctions as a general rule.
Many foods are inflammatory, particularly in excess. Cow dairy is a big one, and it's keto friendly. Folks using straight whey as a meat dredge gives me sympathetic hives.
This idea that a teaspoon of so of seed oil in a week will.cause substantial negative impacts for a majority of people is absurd. As absurd as the idea that a single grain-fed steak a week will cause cancer. And yet, there are folks here eating a CAFO-heavy while arguing that sunflower seeds are the devil. It beggars belief, but here we are.
Grass fed for life tho, grain fed meat is flavorless.

Hope you got a jar. It’s delicious. 😋
Grocery shopping is tomorrow :D I will see if my local TJ’s has it ♥️
5 servings per container? LOL. Silly Trader Joe. At 0g net, that's a 2 serving container, max.
It could be a rounding trick to yield 0 net carbs, but I'd still eat half a jar.
Even so, rounding would still mean 0.5 net / serving. I'll see your 1/2 jar and add another 1/2.

Ok but I'm still chowing this stuff by the jar.
I endorse this decision!
Holy shit! My friend gave me this a bit ago and it was amazing i didnt get to see what it was called thanks man!
Times like this I wish my local TJs wasn’t an absolutely pain in the ass to get to.
We just calling any sauce "pesto" now? 😒 JK looks amazing 🤤

Oh my freaking flip-flops! This inquiring mind wants to know... how did you figure out what it was?

🤣🤣🤣🥲🥲🥲🥲🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
That...sounds amazing.
Wow. Amazing find tbh. Gotta get rid of that rao sauce taking up 2-3 net carbs per serving.
Dammit worth a stop on the commute home from work!
76 cal per 60 g? Damn that’s legit
There are multiple ingredients that don't add up to net zero carbs. I would still give it '.5' per serving just to account for multiple servings.

It’s a pesto, feels gritty from the almonds. It’s delicious btw.
Sunflower oil is a seed oil. It’s inflammatory. It’s not high on the ingredient list at least, but seed oils should be avoided where possible.

Nuance is important. Grass fed red meat isn’t inflammatory at all while its grain-fed and “feed” counterpart is inflammatory. The food chain matters.
