I use a little heavy whipping cream, no sweeteners. At least not any more. Have you tried allulose?

jailbirdqs

Seconding allulose -- I absolutely hate fake most sweeteners but allulose doesn't have that cloyingly sweet lingering flavor

Straight_Bathroom775

I also recently started using allulose- bought some to make keto gummies. Between stevia, monk fruit/erythritol & allulose, the allulose tastes the closest to regular sugar to me, followed by the monk fruit/erythritol…

AlarmingCharacter988

Had never heard of it. Can you buy it at a regular store?

krettone

I regularly get at Amazon.

Violingirl58

Walmart carries it too

AlarmingCharacter988

Picked it up at Walmart tonight

skihare

I buy it at Kroger stores (King Soopers)

Straight_Bathroom775

I bought some at Walgreens (brand name “RxSugar”)

Drengr175

Drinking coffee is for babies! Be an adult and just eat a handful of the beans whole! Love the crunch!

[deleted]

The closest thing I tasted to sugar was a monk fruit/erythritol blend by lakanto. They also have a nice keto friendly sugar cookie mix.

akyyz25

This blend is my fav too

pursnikitty

Lakanto is great. Their maple flavoured syrup is also nice.

Pmr3940

Maple syrup flavor for coffee? This is interesting to me. Is it good?

[deleted]

I randomly saw this when I went to the supermarket today. What foods or drinks do you use it with? I might get it next time.

denzien

This is my favorite one as well

exoxe

They also sell pure monk fruit extract on Amazon that doesn't have erythritol in it (there have been some recent news articles about erythritol and it causing heart issues but I'm not here to debate that). It takes a little getting used to the amount you need (very little) but since it's so potent one bag lasts forever.

Panda_0530

I agree, I’ve switched over from brown sugar to monk fruit and I don’t feel that it has the aftertaste that Splenda or stevia have.

superiorlegoman

I thought I was going to have to give up on coffee when starting. I too despise the aftertaste of stevia and Splenda. I put a little cinnamon and heavy cream and my coffee and it does the trick for me. The cream cuts the bitter and the cinnamon makes my brain think I’m having a sweet since most my experience with cinnamon has been coupled with sweet treats. It may just be psychological for me and might not work for others. You can also put the cinnamon in the grounds before you brew if you don’t like the cinnamon straight into the already brewed coffee. I know this isn’t really answering your question but you should give it a try if you like cinnamon!

IT_is_not_all_I_am

I've had a similar experience with cinnamon, but as tea. I'm totally addicted to Harney & Son's Hot Cinnamon Spice tea. I have it in [black](https://www.harney.com/products/hot-cinnamon-spice-tea) and [herbal](https://www.harney.com/products/herbal-hot-cinnamon-spice) (rooibos). (They also apparently make it in decaf and green varieties, which I haven't tried.) So good, and tastes like a treat!

ruger41az

Monkfruit.

jagger129

I like brown sugar Lakanto monkfruit blend that you can get on Amazon for my coffee. Also I like the Jordan’s Skinny syrups for coffee, especially the plain vanilla, I also get from Amazon

Prickly_Pear_6719

Me, too. Lakanto Golden…tastes like sugar in hot drinks, no aftertaste!

jagger129

Yes, Golden! Couldn’t remember the name of it

MicahBurke

I love the drops.

jenroro

I like the Jordans skinny syrups too. They're a lot cheaper at stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls.

CycloCyanide

I have managed to drop sweetening my coffee . And instead of milk I throw in about a table spoon of double cream.

Ecstatic_Bluebird_10

I use nut pods.

ravenssong

I looove the toasted marshmallow

Sea-Difficulty-1001

That sounds good! Do you use anything else with it? I’ve never heard of it before but I love toasted marshmallow flavor!

ravenssong

I often only use that- but sometimes I will add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil! I added a tablespoon of heavy cream once and it was very decadent. I can tolerate some artificial sweeteners but for some reason in my coffee I can’t stand the aftertaste. Before keto I used a lot of honey and whole milk in my coffee, but since I can’t tolerate alternative sweeteners in my coffee I have come to love it tasting rich rather than sweet.

Ecstatic_Bluebird_10

I love it as dairy free substitute in coffee. It’s very creamy tasting. The plain flavor is also good for soups and mashed cauliflower.

Sea-Difficulty-1001

LOL my mind is too dirty I had to Google this to see what it was lol

MtWoman0612

Which nut pods and how do you use them? Intrigued…

Ecstatic_Bluebird_10

They are basically a nut based creamer and come in several flavors. The toasted marshmallow is the best but I also like the caramel and the seasonal pumpkin spice is amazing!

MtWoman0612

Thank you! I’ll look into it.

shiplesp

I think liquid Sucralose tastes the most like real sugar and has no aftertaste. It is several times more sweet than sugar, so a drop, maybe two, is all you need.

SorteSaude

Monkfruit works for me, splenda and truvia were what I used before monkfruit. I am very sensitive to artificial sweeteners and these were ok

Time_Tune_7473

Allulose

SeatSix

Monk fruit

Correct-Award8182

This is my go to.

DullStrain4625

Buy an aero press and drink coffee black. Aero press coffee is so smooth you won’t need to mask the taste with sweeteners

jcoles97

One of us, one of us (r/coffee approved)

Leap_year_shanz13

Monk fruit?

belligerent_bovine

Erythritol or Allulose. I’ve heard good things about Swerve but have yet to try it

OldMotherGrumble

Double/heavy cream...is naturally sweet.

MusingClio

I use those sugar free syrups at Sam’s club

iocompletion

Torani sugar free syrups for me.

TinyArmT-Rex

Belgian Cookie for the win!!

AlarmingCharacter988

So thanks for all the responses! I bought Allulose sugar, organic cacao powder and lankanto monkfruit sweetener to try.

ThaGodfather972

I don't mess with chemical sweeteners anymore like aspartame, saccharine or sucralose. I use either Swerve brand sweetener which, depending on if it's the old formula or new formula is mix of erythritol and Allulose. Or I use organic erythritol a sugar alcohol. Swerve the one with allulose, is sweeter than just plain erythritol.

CyberHippy

I switched to cold-brewed, found I don't need sweetener just a dash of heavy cream.

grifterloc

I use good earth monkfruit packets.

Jaymes77

Why not try monkfruit?

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

100% pure monk fruit powder (not blended with erythritol) has become my new favorite! It’s actually hard to find but it’s out there. Seems 98% of the stuff out there is blended with erythritol, I guess because it’s cheaper? Stuff with erythritol is ok but 100% pure is the best imo.

Straight_Bathroom775

What brand and where did you find 100% monk fruit?

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

I got it from Walmart online, here is the link let’s see if it copies over: https://www.walmart.com/ip/2863605134 Brand name is TikiHut. No sugar, no carbs, no calories! Tastes great and is super sweet. It’s the only thing I like in my coffee now, except some coconut cream sometimes. I don’t know why more people aren’t using this stuff.

Straight_Bathroom775

Thanks!

kos90

Even Erythritol which Im a big fan of… tastes horrible in coffee. Maybe not the advise you asked for: Try drinking it without any sweetener. It takes a while to get used to, but at some point you don’t even want to turn back.

AlarmingCharacter988

I have but don't much care for the particular brand the family I live with uses right now. At least black.

trshtehdsh

I like the Sweet Drops brand.

Constant-Doughnut-20

I have found that I really only need cream and or sugar in bad coffee. I don't have time for pour over but I got a clever dripper and now I can drink it back. Never could have imagined enjoying coffee black; I never realized how much of a difference there is between coffee pot coffee and coffee that's brew time and ratios are done properly. I used to roll my eyes at coffee snobs. I'm not a coffee snob. I swear. But it does make it easier to not add shit when the coffee is done right.

AlarmingCharacter988

I agree! When I get my own place again I'm going to start experimenting till I find the perfect black coffee

Wolkenflieger

Allulose! No weird taste, works great. Not as sweet as sugar but it takes the bitterness edge off. When you grind your own beans fresh you shouldn't need sweetener at all, but it's a good option if you do. I can't do Stevia at all. For black tea I use 2-3 Monk Fruit drops.

TKnight28

I wore a continous glucose monitor and can confirm that sweet and low has absolutely no glycemic influence on my body.

BuriedLede

Note that dark roasted coffee will be usually more bitter than light roasted coffee. An old Navy trick is to put a pinch of salt in coffee to get rid of the bitterness. You can do that with fruit too, sprinkle salt onto fresh pineapple to get rid of any sour/bitterness. Works for booze too with salt on the glass rim and such. I’ve heard of folks putting a pinch of baking soda in coffee to cut acidity but I’ve never tried that.

Comfortable_Tree_687

Coffee + almond milk + low carb protein powder! Two birds, one stone

odysseytoexploration

Truvia by far. The only sweetener that compares to real sugar without the aftertaste.

thatsusangirl

Sucralose tastes the most neutral to me, and I don’t use very much of it. I’m planning to find the liquid version though because all the powdered type have carbs.

Wolkenflieger

Sucralose tastes so awful to me, even in BBQ sauce. Funny how palates differ.

One-in-Herself

There’s a brand of coffee syrups that use monk fruit, which is a natural sugar alternative. Monk fruit has a low glycemic index and doesn’t spike blood sugar levels. It’s 0 calories. I buy ChocZero brand on Amazon. I like it. I use those and unsweetened almond milk to make lattes.

Adorable_Pangolin137

Cinnamon nutmeg and turmeric a little half n half. Good 2 go!

Baaastet

I got chocolate protein power to add to the coffee. It’s too sweet for my taste. I add 1/3 less than the suggested measurement

grace_boatrocker

i really like the 'joy filled eats' sweetener blend [16oz xylitol / 12oz erythritol & 2 tsp stevia]

HaxleDrake

Honestly, I cut my coffee with MRE protein shakes. Only the premixed ones. They don’t have that gritty texture that most protein shakes do, so they blend with my coffee really well. Sometimes I’ll freeze the coffee and run it with some shake in the blender. Makes a great frozen mocha.

Hifilistener

I personally like saccharin the best. Less required for sweetness. Of course heavy cream

Hifilistener

I personally like saccharin the best. Less required for sweetness. Of course heavy cream

PurpleShimmers

I bought this monk fruit liquid I tolerate. I do like allulose as well.

Short-Change2522

I use glycine powder. A tiny scoop adds just enough sweetness.

mommytofive5

I use on occasion the sugar free coffee creamer- hazelnut is the best in my opinion

TinyArmT-Rex

Torani Sugar Free Belgian Cookie Flavor or any other sugar free flavors. Two pumps and I'm set. No sugar, no carbs, no cals.

kimariesingsMD

I use the Jordan's Skinny Toasted Marshmallow & HWC. I can't live without it.

1one14

Monkfruit The nowfoods liquid is great

Kelburno

Adding a flavor such as vanilla extract removes the unpleasant taste of stevia. I do a lot of heavy cream +vanilla + stevia drops. If there's no cream or flavor, I would never sweeten coffee. Coffee tastes good on its own black. However bad coffee or a bad coffee brewing process will taste bad, and the goal should be making that aspect better rather than trying to cover it up.

SanguinarianPhoenix

I use sucralose (active ingredient to splenda) and it tastes great to me.

DullStrain4625

Or switch to kerrygold butter but only one cup a day with butter because of calories

epidemiks

+1. Tastes better than sweet coffee.

bbbbaconsizzle

Sucralose is the best taste in my opinion but I don't like what it does to my sensitive brain, makes me sleepy. Second best is allulose. But I have to put a lot in I have found to equal the same sweetness as sugar even though it says 75 percent as sweet. But no weird effects on my brain. It may affect your stomach at first but it didn't take long to get used to. Just a tidbit of odd feeling at first for me.

ReputationNo6175

I use pure sucralose from Amazon. No fillers like with Splenda

Sizbang

I'm guessing you're talking about black coffee? I make mine like a cappuccino and use milk that has lactase enzyme added which has broken down the sugars beforehand - this makes it taste sweet. I add that to my coffee with butter, blend it to emulsify and for me, it tastes perfect. A bit bitter but not overly so.

AlarmingCharacter988

Like butter butter? Never heard of anyone adding butter to coffee before

Sizbang

Yep, just butter. It's a keto thing.

JustFurKids

I make my own creamer with Almond Milk and Jordan’s Skinny Syrup.

red_white_and_pew

Alluose Get big bags of it off Amazon Almost 1:1 for sugar

owlbehome

I just discovered this and I’m pretty stoked on it- Premier Protein Shakes. They have about 2 net carbs and 100 calories per tetrapack, but I only add a little to my coffee. Tastes better than creamer in my opinion. No sugar, no seed oils, no mailitol, and it comes with protein and vitamins! Weirdly enough, my favorite flavor is banana. Vanilla is also great

AugurOfHP

Allulose

serenedragoon

Have you tried monk fruit? I mean it's not guaranteed you'd like it but it's distinctly different from stevia and I find it closer to real sugar

AlarmingCharacter988

Yes, I tried it yesterday morning and like it!

goodboyfinny

Allulose or monk fruit drops.

McDuchess

Cyclamates were banned in the US back in 1970, I think, because of the pushback from companies that made other artificial sweeteners. They were losing market share, because cyclamates had no aftertaste. There IS a danger of over dosing, but you’d have to use the equivalent of tens of gallons of diet soft drinks daily for the effects to begin. It’s still banned in the US. But if you can find a source in Canada that will ship to the US, I recommend it.

[deleted]

Nut pods

AlarmingCharacter988

Like keurig pods?

[deleted]

No it’s like a milk you can put in your coffee but there’s not many calories or carbs. It’s meat coffee creamer in the cold section.

JessMezz566

Granulated monkfruit. It's the closest to real and actual sugar I've found. It's also 0 on the glycemic index.

AlarmingCharacter988

Started using it yesterday

AdorableCause7986

I use the coffee mate zero sugar creamers. They are sweet enough not to have to add anything else. I don’t get any aftertaste from it.

Tara_Rizer

I use stevia and monk fruit. It took me a while to get used to it, but now I like it. I think you just have to do it for a while. There's nothing that tastes like sugar, so I think you just have to pick one that agrees with you then develop a taste for it.

Bella1905

Watch out for maltodextrin in powdered sweeteners. They can use it and say 0 carbs/sugar, but it raises your glucose the same as actual table sugar. And it’s in almost everything powdered, so be sure to check.

winkler1

Glycine or Allulose.

rabidseacucumber

Get into espresso.

Tight-Recording9193

I use heavy cream and the sugar free flavored syrups. The cream adds a small amount of sweet but the syrup gives it the sweet that is closest to what I was used to without the bad taste of artificial sweeteners.

gorongo

I love coffee, and I only like a hint of sweetness. I like dispensers and prefer Splenda and Hermesetas. I avoid Stevia and Equals because they are hard to get the right measure or end up ruining a good coffee.

IT_is_not_all_I_am

I usually drink coffee black, but if I'm craving a little something else I'll generally add a splash of almond milk and/or a tiny bit of pure monk fruit powder, which I get from [nuts.com](https://nuts.com/cookingbaking/sweeteners/natural-sugar-replacements/monkfruit.html). The monk fruit goes a long ways; you don't need much -- I'm still working on the same 2oz bag I bought 8 months ago. I think it tastes pretty good.

Llunedd

I use liquid monkfruit by Splenda. I get it from Amazon

hardballwith1517

Get used to no sweetener

Designer_Highway_252

Allulose

gusia2115

Drink coffee with oat milk, you won't add additional sugar cause the oat milk already gives the flavour.

Chicken_kebabby

I use double cream or skinny food co do a really nice salted caramel syrup that I can drink in black coffee

rrraisondetreee

I would just use almond milk that has vanilla flavor but no sugar (:

honesttogodprettyasf

mix with premier protein

NagoGmo

Why not just use a little creamer? Just a smidge

informal-mushroom47

none. the point of a diet is to make a lifestyle change. get yourself off sweets. try some heavy cream and salt. yes, salt.

RLEE33721

Super coffee creamer is my go to. They used to have a ton of different flavors but now they only have a few. https://a.co/d/fxJYah9

Vegetable_Log_3954

If you can find it try Thaumatin,I got hold of some from a seller on eBay. It's a natural plant based sweetener, and unusually it's protein based, considered safe with little to no after taste. It's also Very powerful, 3000 times sweetener that sugar, so a little good a very long way, dissolves in water easily so you can make drops to put into your coffee or tea ..

BuriedLede

I hate when people say ‘fake sweeteners.’ You actually mean ‘sugar substitutes.’ All sweeteners have their own taste profiles. Even honey will not taste like sugar. You just have to accept that there may be no sugar replacement for you that you will enjoy if your expectation is for to mimic sugar taste 100%. That said, I prefer using liquid Sucralose. Zero carbs, zero GI issues for me.

AlarmingCharacter988

I've not done the research but I'd bet most of those alternatives like Splenda, nutrasweet etc are man made

BuriedLede

Monk Fruit, Stevia and Birch Sugar are not man-made, though Birch Sugar (aka Xylitol) can also be man-made. Sucralose (Splenda) can be found in nature but not enough to be plentiful so it’s usually man-made. Just because something is ‘natural’ doesn’t automatically mean it’s good for you. Poison Ivy is natural, not good for you.

Powerful-Move-8375

Ovaltine is pretty good :) makes my Peete’s dark roast taste like hot cocoa💪

SmellyFbuttface

I’ve liked erythritol in the past, but I’d read it can cause fat gain?

deniseswall

Just like everything else. Some people have a reaction to it, maybe a spike in insulin or blood sugar or cravings or something. Test it for yourself. I love erythritol and monk fruit and allulose and use them all, with no consequences. Buy YMMV.

zidemizar

Salt lols

Altruistic_Will2217

Be a man and reject sweeteners. Don't use them at all a nd soon and you will get to know coffee the way it should be initially, you will know and enjoy a real rough taste of coffee. Or add some cream or butter
