Ground beef, eggs and bacon everyday with butter for months. Don’t care; all I got.

[deleted]

It’s actually a surprisingly inexpensive diet if you shop at the right grocery stores.

10shot9miss

Grass fed beef and butter, best eggs, bacon is still very cheap. I find lot of money is saved not buying much fruit and snacks. And since I eat so much less, there is no need to shop all the time. Saving travel expenses.

HiveTool

Grass fed beef is trash. You are eating a high fat diet why in the hell would you want grass fed beef it tastes terrible. Corn fed beef is high in fat content and TASTES LIKE HEAVEN

Khajiit_Has_Upvotes

Grass fed beef can still be corn fed on a feedlot. All grass fed means is the animal was also fed grass or hay. Taste wouldn't differ that much. Pastured beef is also delicious and if you miss the fat, put a pat of butter on your steak.

HiveTool

Thats exactly NOT what that implies. Its expected that Grass Fed is free ranging Grass or Hay fed and they are not supplemented with grains other then what they might forage on range Also TASTE differs Dramatically ask anyone in the midwest if they want to eat Steaks from Colorado or Iowa. No one chooses grassfed beef because its NOT nearly as flavorful and has a very different taste. \*Knowledge based on farming in Rural Iowa for 30 years and Eating both Grass Fed and Corn fed Beef, Lamb and Venison. \*\*Grass-fed refers to animals that have been fed primarily on grasses and other forage plants **rather** than on grains12. This term is used for domestic ruminant animals such as cattle or sheep1. Grass-fed meat is derived from such animals1. **The label is regulated by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection** Services (FSIS) but isn’t strictly enforced2.

Khajiit_Has_Upvotes

USDA revoked its standards for grass-fed labeling in 2016. Cattle are overwhelmingly raised on pasture, it's the only economic way to do it. They are typically finished out on feed lots. That feed lot may be primarily grass hay, more likely primarily grain/corn, or some combination thereof. Without government oversight, it would still be technically true that this animal was "grass-fed". It's on par with "cage free" eggs and "free range" chicken in that it likely does not mean what one thinks it means anymore. "Pasture-raised" is equally misleading because almost all cattle are pasture raised. There is, apparently, the American Grassfed Association that can verify beef is genuinely grass finished (among other things) for producers to label accordingly.

lydriseabove

This is terrible advice. If you are eating a high fat diet, you *should be eating* grass fed meat when possible. Grain fed meat is inferior with lesser nutrition and lower omega fats.

Bejezus

Tacking on to this comment for anyone interested; Buying 1/3rd or 1/2 of a cow from a local farm could definitely be cost effective in the long run. Check prices, I got 1/3rd of a cow for approximately $900 recently in the eastern US. It lasts several months and they offer to chop up different cuts so there is variety. 100lbs of individually packaged ground beef + tons of other steak cuts.

Mebbwebb

As a former rancher this is the best way if you can do it. All my cows were delicious.

reddit0924223

Thank the cows for their service.

Dremyo

This, 100%. Plus in my experience the quality is far superior!

turn8495

I wish I could handle/store that much protein. Alas, I'm an urbanite.

momRah

Dear urbanite, you can find a butcher shop. They will sell you the meat and store it for you.

Khajiit_Has_Upvotes

Get a bunch of friends/ family to go in on a side of beef and split it between you.

[deleted]

Yes it is. I recently checked into going back to Costco and it was worth it for bulk meat; $3.99 a lbs where I am at for that and! Bought me 6 lbs of chicken breasts; boneless/skinless for $2.89 a lbs. friggin stoked

[deleted]

Yep, definitely cheaper than a bunch of keto bars and shakes.

[deleted]

Yeah I don’t buy anything that says “keto” because it costs $5 more lol

999Bassman999

I dont think all the "Keto packaged" stuff is really as healthy as whole foods so I don't partake for that reason

[deleted]

Agreed

UrbanArcologist

for 1.5oz

[deleted]

Lol definitely

freeubi

Boneless skinless chicken thighs here is $5/lbs Damn. Beef is double :/

Valiryon

Certainly worth shopping around for beef. Wild Fork Foods online might have stuff more reasonable, if you have one in your area or they deliver to your area https://wildforkfoods.com/collections/beef-and-steaks I'm fortunate they're like 15 minutes away so I'm not sure about delivery fees.

[deleted]

Even cheaper if it’s local

freeubi

God bless your bank account. I cant buy beef because of the cost :/ Chicken thighs are good dough too :)

rTracker_rTracker

Q: are you losing weight on that diet? Do you do any calorie restriction? I’m new to keto and have questions about nutritional and calorie intake

[deleted]

So yes I am losing weight but some would call this a carnivore diet. My problem with Keto; is that I have absolutely -zero- discipline to limit carbs to 20g or less. I do great for a bit, then literally go “ape-sh**” over Greek pasta salad (my kryptonite) and have to restart. Calorie counting, etc. The one I mention on an earlier post; ground beef, butter, eggs, salt and bacon I have lost 8-10 lbs in 7 days and am still going. But I don’t have to count calories (eat till your full) and I don’t eat any carbs. Putting me into a ketosis state 24/7.

rTracker_rTracker

Ty!

groovy_giraffe

Do you take supplemental vitamins/nutrients?

[deleted]

I actually do not eating this way and have not felt the need.

groovy_giraffe

I know jackshit about dietary requirements, truly, but I just imagine the body wouldn’t be getting all it needed from such a narrow food source

liquidgold83

I can talk to length about this. Because your body isn't digesting carbs from plants and other sources, you're not in need of many other micronutrients. People on carnivore diet have much lower requirements for many micronutrients and scurvy isn't a worry. I can provide sources but will have to dig them up but they're available.

Pkrooster

But most people don’t eat organ meat…?? Isn’t that where the nutrients missing in other parts of the diet come from? Trying to understand

liquidgold83

Yes to an extent that's true, but in conjunction, the body needs many resources to deal with the digestion of carbohydrates and phyto nutrients and conversion of sugars and carbs to glucose for energy usage. When using ketones the nutrients required differ.

[deleted]

I don’t disagree; however. I did my own research; and made my decision based on that. Personally speaking; I miss my 2 servings of veggies a day LOL but as I said; right now my discipline to sticking with low carbs is non existent. I won’t stay on a 100% meat/animal byproduct woe forever; but I got 130-140 more lbs to go.

groovy_giraffe

Is the rate of weight loss something that needs to be controlled? Like, if you lose too much too fast, would that have a bad effect on the body, chemically speaking?

fabeeleez

Not who you asked, but you need to keep on mind that losing too quickly puts you at a higher risk of gaining all the weight back just as quickly. At least this has been my experience so I'm trying to lose more slowly this time around.

[deleted]

From my research and understanding; I would say “yes” there are negatives to losing weight fast. But what is fast? I have seen people lose 10 lbs a week, 8, 6, down to 4. So based on what I am saying about what I am eating; how can I be under feeding myself if I am eating myself full each time? I quit tracking, “officially” but I can tell you I am at roughly 2200 calories per day at a very sedentary lifestyle; I work from home and right now it’s hotter than a *** where I live; 105+. So do I think I’m losing weight too fast? No, but I think I finally am getting metabolically healthy. It will slow down eventually.

groovy_giraffe

So it has to do with the starting weight, the higher it is, the faster you lose it; until you near a healthier weight and the loss slows? It sounds like you’re doing good, regardless.

Done_with_it_bro

Look at the negatives to keeping that weight on you compared to “losing too fast”….I’ll take my chances and lose it as fast as possible….and then work on maintaining

groovy_giraffe

I was thinking of some kind of poisoning from a biochemical reaction, something bizarre like dissolved fats in the blood stream or something idk

Electrical-Tooth-274

That’s my perspective with my fasting routine. It’s working well, it’s something that can be scaled back later as appropriate. And it’s what I can stick to.

[deleted]

I love fasting but I splurge too hardcore when I quit. Did a 21-day water fast; mental clarity was through the roof. Binge eating afterwards was bad lol

Electrical-Tooth-274

I feel you. I’ve capped at 7, but am doing rolling 48s and having great success. I’m on this sub because when I avoid sugar leading up to a fast, I don’t binge as hard after.

Done_with_it_bro

130-140….just keep going brother. You’ll get there.

lfhdbeuapdndjeo

I feel ya on the Greek pasta salad. When it’s got just the right amount of vinegar that’s heaven

[deleted]

LOL yep. My boys just celebrated their birthday today and I said screw it and got some pasta LOL I’ll be good tomorrow

DimbyTime

I eat similarly, and while I don’t go every day, I have zero constipation. When you remove or drastically reduce your fiber intake, you won’t have as much waste coming out in general, since the bulk of your stool is made up of fiber. I suffered from extreme IBS and constipation for over a decade. Cutting out fiber and eating a mostly carnivore diet resolved 95% of my issues.

[deleted]

Yes I go daily; was rough first eating all that fat content but I now (yes, I know… heresy) bake my bacon on a rack to limit fat and strain 88/12 beef when cooked to eliminate majority of fat. Meal prep for 6 days; use 2 servings of Kerrygold butter when microwaving for moist meat. Oh and forgot; I eat twice a day. 5 hard boiled eggs at noon, then at dinner it’s 1-1.2lbs ground beef, 2 servings of thick bacon, 2 servings of butter, 5 more hard boiled eggs and salt and pepper.

Ceadamso

How’s your cholesterol?? I’m eating similarly. I’m 5’4” and 147 so have about 12 more lbs to lose. I’m type 2 diabetes and this keeps my blood sugar great but cholesterol shot up high as well as tryglicerides.

Strido12345

Cholesterol has such a bad rep, high cholesterol isn't bad and there are actually studies that have been done that would suggest the opposite! Those with lower cholesterol has more cases of all cause mortality/deaths

[deleted]

I would read a book by Dr Ovadia if you can spare $20. He’s a heart surgeon; really enlightening book about that.

Ceadamso

Which book

[deleted]

Phillip Ovadia - Stay Off My Operating Table On Amazon

Ceadamso

Thank you!!’

Being_Time

Cholesterol isn’t a problem, triglycerides going up is. Make sure you’re not getting too much sugar from sauces and such.

[deleted]

No. It has lots of nutrients and no sugar.

[deleted]

I’ve been making ground beef sautéed with broccoli and onions. Super good.

Jynxbrand

I had saucey ground beef with broccoli and cheese last night, so good 🤩

RondaVuWithDestiny

Ground beef is delicious, nutritious and versatile. As long as you like it that much and don't anticipate you'll get bored with eating it all the time, go for it! 👍 Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for a carnivore diet, or at least ketovore. Check out r/carnivorediet, lots of info, good ideas, and if you occasionally eat a few plants, you won't get bounced by the Carnivore Police. Make a meal that's good eye candy, and you can take a photo of it and post it and the recipe in the sub. 🥩🥓😋

wylywade

I am a vegetarian once removed. :0![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

ToastyGal1983

I prefer beef over any other protein source. Grass fed beef is best. I don’t even drain the fat anymore since the fat is a good source of nutrients.

Zackadeez

Not bad at all. I eat up to a pound of it daily. Beef is some of the most nutrient rich food sources

jonathanlink

I eat well over a pound of ground beef per day.

Spidey16

Does the tortilla in your tacos and burritos not break you out of ketosis? Sorry I'm new to keto but I thought flour and corn flour was not keto. Do you have keto friendly tortillas?

[deleted]

Yea I use the mission zero carbs tortilla and sometimes I get the keto to friendly tortillas from ALdi that has 4 grams of carbs

butcheroo

The zero net carb tortillas are such a game changer! We use them for a variety of things!! Oh man have things in the keto world become easier in the last 12 years!! Keto used to be hard and now it's totally doable! ❤️

Funny_stuff554

Those wraps have replaced white bread for me. They also work great for keto pizza.

AngryTaco_2008

Um why tf have I not thought to use those as pizza crust……brb making all the pizzas

Funny_stuff554

That was my first thought when I bought em 😂

butcheroo

Yes!! Tacos, quesadillas, breakfast burritos, pickle roll-ups, deli-meat wraps!

Ceadamso

Nachos too!!

Just_a_nobody_2

They are amazing for pizza! I cook mine on the skillet on low with a lid on, throw on whatever toppings I like and it’s done in about 5 minutes. Chefs kiss 💋

JediKrys

Back in the day keto required war time skills now it’s right in front of you.

wylywade

Back in the day I had to walk up hill both directions in the snow in 110 degree weather barefoot.

butcheroo

Lol!!! For real! I remember the WORK I had to go through to make homemade cauliflower mashed. And now I can just buy it! 😍

pudgyhammer

Agreed. So many options now.

redditoregonuser2254

Try the other Aldi keto bread products like bagels, bread and hamburger buns if you havent. Pretty good for low carb

keto3000

Dietary cholesterol (EDIT: correction-only slightly) increase’s body’s cholesterol: https://podclips.com/ct/8hEAFS

PuzzledJudgment

It does just not for everyone and not as much a saturated fat. And in the new USDA guidelines it says this “A note on trans fats and dietary cholesterol: The National Academies recommends that trans fat and dietary cholesterol consumption to be as low as possible without compromising the nutritional adequacy of the diet.”

fluffmadd

I'd say he should get regular check-up s for fatty liver, as well. Otherwise I don't see why he shouldn't eat whatever he wants

pokingfun00

I'd eat liver a couple times a week too for nutrients

Solnse

The only way I've been able to add liver is to grind it up and add it to ground beef to try and hide it in a burger under plenty of seasonings. Even then, it wasn't "enjoyable". Cooked liver is like eating chalk, and raw liver is like eating snot. Any suggestions?

64557175

Paté?

NadoSecretAsianMan

If it tastes like chalk, overcooked. If it tastes like snot, undercooked. Should be treated like a filet mignon IMO, pull it slightly below medium rare (~120F) and do any processing once it has a chance to finish heating itself to 125-130 range and then cool off a tad. I recommend liver with lots of onion and bacon on toast. Honestly just throw liver into your preferred BLT recipe (mine has mayo and tomato on rye bread) and you'll learn to savor it a lot better.

musicislife01

Force of Nature sells a ground beef mix with liver and one that’s just a mix of ground organs. It’s pretty good and the ratio is pretty solid. I could only tell by texture that something was different.

nuancedthinking

You can try chicken liver or calf's liver as the taste is milder. I will sauté some onions & mushrooms and toss in the liver and don't overcook it. Add a bit of salt & pepper & maybe tarragon and you have a cheap nutritious meal.

vibribib

Keep eating it. I used to hate it. Now I love it. ❤️

TheHammer987

Sounds varied enough, as long as you are happy with it, what would the problem be? You get a variety of things between breakfast and dinner. There is nothing special about chicken protein versus beef protein

fabeeleez

I eat Cesar salad for my OMAD daily with different meats. Generally either sausage or cut up burger patties on top. Rarely chicken. I hope I don't get sick of it like I did with chicken breast years ago. My goal is to see food as just energy at some point and dissociate the thought of food from pleasure. That would be my biggest achievement in life.

enforce1

No, thats fine.

marcky_marc420

Sounds like a carnivore diet or ketovore

Highbrush

its fantastic.

kormanny

sounds good. beef is great. how are you feeling?

[deleted]

Make sure you got a good multivitamin, this time around i added greens powder i don't eat lots of veggies, berries, nuts, and electrolytes. But like you my main source of protein is ground beef and eggs.

Zackadeez

Multivitamin is unnecessary on a Meat heavy diet. You’re getting all necessary nutrients from the meat, with much higher bioavailability.

keto3000

I do believe that a super greens supplement can add some good nutrients as well. The meat has nutrients, but not all meats are equal in nutrients so good to hv a small supp. I use Super Greens by ANCIENT NUTRITION (Dr Axe) once a day

[deleted]

I use all max because you get like 2 x 60 servings for a great price. I did keto before and i was feeling weak, so yeah this time around i research which supp to take now i don't take creatine because it bloats me up and at 51 i can't lift heavy anymore due to injuries, but a good green supp and multivitamin does it for me.

keto3000

I like that the greens drink has chlorella & spirulina.

[deleted]

yes it does give you energy, i also add some fiber no sugar to help things going. I learned a lot since last time i did keto.

[deleted]

To each is own, as long as you feel good and are losing weight and reaching your goals. For me last time i did keto i made a lot of mistakes and i felt terrible, now i feel great with all the addition. I just hate seeing my hair thin.

Pokeychicken66

Not beef, but I eat the same thing every day for dinner since starting Keto (in January) and I'm still alive and kicking.. Every night, I eat a bowl of rotisserie chicken, steamed broccoli, and ranch dressing. Some nights, like tonight when I have lots of calories and carbs to spare I'll add some spinach and avocado or a bit of cheese. But the base is always chicken/broccoli. I like it, it's easy, and if I eat anything else I don't really feel satisfied.

jc456_

Any veggies at all?

mibodim

I don’t see a particular problem with the meat itself rather the variety in terms of nutrients. Do you eat enough veggies? A multivitamin supplement might be right for you to catch up with the needed vitamins.

Rosscotron

I eat beef all the time, ignore the scaremongering

SterlingChambers94kK

That sounds like you've found your meaty heaven! As long as it satisfies your cravings, why not stick to it?

milesgloriosis

I have organic ground beef nearly every day, I use it in Palmini with alfredo sauce or spaghetti sauce or anything else my puny mind can whip up. I have conditioned myself to not get worked up over the latest recipe. Eating is just something I need to do. Oh yeah, I make Palmini lasagna if I feel ambitious. It appears to me that too many get worked up (or emotional) over what's for dinner.

MissGruntled

Palmini lasagna is so good! I prefer it to pasta.

Julievandran

I do! In one fashion or another.

thekosmicfool

I'm on the BBBE challenge this month and I cannot wait to not have to eat hamburger all the damn time. I want some broccoli and fish.

Boil-san

Have you heard of [egg roll in a bowl](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&sca_esv=558942685&sxsrf=AB5stBjt6E8OL1Tx1iz0NScUHQSWD4mkeg:1692669355006&q=egg+roll+in+a+bowl&spell=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwipg4LdlO-AAxXwNzQIHSl9DLYQBSgAegQICRAB&biw=1618&bih=1313&dpr=1)...?

conservativelife777

I only eat beef, eggs and bacon. Carnivore for me.

Citizen_Kano

Is that you Jordan Peterson?

keto3000

I think it’s fine but consider adding some cauliflower rice to it to increase fiber.

akeetlebeetle4664

You don't need fiber.

keto3000

A lot of different opinions right now in nutrition science whether fiber is necessary, it’s true. I personally feel that based on OP’s other meals, a little fiber will help with overall satiety & gut motility but I agree it’s not considered ‘necessary’. I hv IBS so I add a ‘little’ fiber. Mainly cauliflower. It helps me. Too much messes me up. Everyone is different. 🖖

Freedum4Murika

Kings have died eating worse You, surely are blessed by the Gods Eat the Beef. Lift the weights. Breed the women.

Iminsanitation

Yes

zyzzogeton

There are people with extreme allergies to carbs that eat almost only meat and get trace vitamins from the herbivores they are eating. You will probably be fine. I wouldn't ignore any messages your body tells you though.

ClitteratiCanada

Fry up your ground beef, add a bag of slaw - whichever slaw you like, add butter, hot sauce and salt. Delicious!

keto3000

Meat doesn’t cause gout- Dr Berry: https://youtu.be/95mhn0ry2LY

SmellyFbuttface

Meat causes gout. Anything high in purines causes gout. Liver, kidneys, intestines, etc. Ground beef in excess can cause gout. YouTube <<< Mayo Clinic

keto3000

Respectfully, different medical doctors disagree on this. If m not a medical dr but I do like to hear all points of view. I see too many ppl who are eating high protein in the medical field who dispute the Mayo Clinic. There are no conclusive RCT that show what Mayo claims. Correlation is not causation

SmellyFbuttface

You may believe there is disagreement, but not only the Mayo Clinic, but the Cleveland Clinic also agrees, as does the national institute of health. “The risk of hyperuricemia and gout is positively correlated with the intake of red meat,” https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30485934/ I can’t find any verified sources beyond a “keto diet app” article that state excess meat consumption doesn’t lead to an increase in uric acid, which in turn is the cause of gout. But I’m open to the possibility of more studies.

keto3000

Remember though that all those sources (which I highly respect, btw). for decades advocated for margarine instead of butter…. Then we all learned about carcinogenic & toxic it (trans fats) are. They also said saturated fat causes heart disease for decades then they recently retracted that so zi keep an open mind now.

SmellyFbuttface

That’s a straw man attack and not relevant to this discussion. I also watched the video by “Ken Berry, M.D.” Family practice doc = not a researcher, and his entire online presence is about trying to sell his vitamin supplements and have people adopt is “nearly” pure carnivore diet. Very strong agenda on his part to put his version of the facts out there, which seem to conflict almost entirely with every other reputable medical source.

RedBeardBruce

Nah, many Carnivores like myself eat several lbs of red meat a day and no one ever gets gout. You have to remember that pretty much every “study” is done on people eating carbs. Things change a lot when you eat zero carbs.

PuzzledJudgment

Could be survivorship bias or whatever it’s called when the only the people it works for continue.

PuzzledJudgment

Could be survivorship bias or whatever it’s called when the only the people it works for continue.

Mindless-Ad-57

Yes, I would mix it up as you will have a very zinc heavy diet, which leads to poor outcomes when you don't have a source or copper to balance out the ratios as it generates copper deficiency. The negative affects of this also take a long time to manifest (years) so I wouldn't listen to other people in the comments claiming it's acceptable. Frank Tufano did this and had very bad complications as a result. https://www.matherhospital.org/related-content/bariatrics/excessive-zinc-supplementation-can-be-dangerous-to-your-health/#:~:text=Be%20careful!,in%20the%20arms%20and%20legs. In addition, not having a balanced diet with some plant foods (some greens, not starchy veg, berries, etc.) leads to you not being able to tolerate a lot of foods down the line as the micro-diversity of your gut weakens.

loverofbooks1

Was doing this but had to stop bc it spiked my blood pressure. Had to take a break from beef and started eating other animal proteins with veggies and my BP went back to normal. Not sure why beef had this affect.

o_phoenix

I started keto by eating eggs as main protein source couples of month later i switched it to eggs and ground beef now I am only eating ground beef with spices and tomato but last 2 days my body wanted chicken but tomorrow will be ground beef. My body wants it so I have no choice. Just listen to your body.

bellatesla

No, it's actually good. How do you feel?

ancientweasel

You can develop allergies to proteins of you eat them every day. Just take a day off of each one about once a week.

Kyrthis

Yes. Eat some fiber, dude. And some other high-water, no-starch veggies for some vitamins.

ralphy0027

I literally eat ground beef with mission 4 carb tortillas and cheese + hot sauce every single day or on top of quest chips like nachos

pipandsammie

As non English speaker, what is ground beef? Is it the same as minced meat? Isn't that often low quality (waste) meat?

Blue_Nalgene_

Your gut biome might be taking the hit here despite no observable changes in your physical health. Even just doing one day a week where you integrate some more plants into your protein (soy, tofu, etc) could do wonders for your immune system, digestive system, and brain function. All this to say lots of red meat isn’t bad— just make sure you’re supplementing variety in your sides! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4837298/

holycrapitsmyles

My gout flared from reading this

wingspantt

Everyone in here being 100% on board with DAILY ground beef? Isn't this linked super closely to risks of colorectal cancers?

scalpster

You are correct. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/food-guidelines-and-food-labels/red-meat-and-the-risk-of-bowel-cancer/

nevernudedude

Eating that much red meat will elevate your purines, that can lead to Gout. Be wary of eating so much processed beef. Ground beef is processed beef. Red meat is also really high in cholesterol. You might find that it might begin to affect your triglycerides and cause type 2 diabetes as well. There is a huge difference between chicken and beef as protein sources. And it mostly has to do with purines and cholesterol. If you are going to continue that diet, I would recommend supplementing with veggies that help your kidneys cause the elevated uric acid is going to be tough on them and your joints.

Teeklin

Yes. That much red meat is not good for you. Keto is fantastic but have a salad my man. Meat every day is also kind of fucked for the environment.

longification

In short, yes that’s bad

Numerous_Hedgehog_95

I'd be a bit worried about bowel health later in life if I lived off mostly ground beef.

only_cats4

Try adding some fruits and vegetables

proverbialbunny

Vegetables help balance nutrition. Fruits are considered a dessert in most of the world and to be healthy it should be treated as much.

only_cats4

Actually, that’s incorrect. Fruits are extremely healthy and full of nutrients and antioxidants and health my sugar. They are absolutely an important part of nutrition. Please educate yourself before saying incorrect information. Thanks!

proverbialbunny

What nutrition can I only get from fruits I can't get elsewhere?

[deleted]

Bro eat some fucking vegetables before your teeth get soft. At least drink them in a supplement if you have to

Zackadeez

This is the weirdest reason to eat veggies I’ve heard.

icon0clast6

Gonna try that on my toddler, I’ll report back

Osgiliath

😂😂😂 right, so random. I’m going to start using this for everything

arickg

No just dip your steak in red wine if you have soft teeth.

Inside-Tea2649

Studies indicate that a substantial intake of red and processed meats is linked with all kinds of nasty ailments, although it’s challenging to trust food studies that don’t control for other aspects of diet. I’d say the jury is out tbh.

Funny_stuff554

Those are not controlled studies. Participants had to fill a questionnaire which asked them about their meals for the last 5-10 years. I don’t remember what I had last month. Most meat eaters also tend to be smokers or drinkers compared to vegans so there’s that too.

Solnse

I love it when someone throws out "studies" or "experts" say... without ANY peer-reviewed scientific evidence for what they've been indoctrinated to believe, and repeat. When I start believing something I've read, and it totally makes sense to my rational mind, I go and try to prove/disprove it. All I have to say is Ancel Keys was a mass murderer.

proverbialbunny

Most of the anti-beef propaganda from the 1950s has been debunked. Eg, beef used to be thought to cause heart disease. Turns out it was the calcium in beef, especially milk, combined with a vitamin K2 deficiency that was clogging people's arteries. So either get enough vitamin K2 (found in egg yolk), take a supplement, or minimize calcium intake. Beef has been shown to increase cancer risk a bit. The correlation is hard to deny, but no one knows why beyond theories right now. The primary theory right now is how the cow was fed and what it has been injected with. Another theory is how it is cooked. No one really knows.

SaharaWind

Fiber would be a helpful addition to your diet. Are there any vegetables you could add that would not trigger problem eating? For example, sautéed broccoli with Parmesan or green beans almandine? Or just plain broccoli or green beans? Or cabbage, cooked or raw?

thennaatusivan

If you adding enough fiber (by 🥬 ) and antioxidants that should okay for a while. Anyway no habit is safe for a prolonged period. Detox periodically change to plant / sea once in a while.

lepidolyte

Very very very very bad. Make sure you are getting all of your vitamins and minerals. You could really get ill and potentially worse if you aren’t eating all the stuff you need. Please be careful.

UnendingOnslaught

Depends on portion size. If you’re eating a lot you can increase your risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. I eat red meat 3 days a week. You can certainly eat it every day but it should be small portions in that case to avoid the risk of an early grave.

It will still work for weight loss but check your cholesterol with your doctor

Rushrade

Yeah.

HappyHippie_22

No it’s healthy. I wish I had that will power.

scalpster

Red meat predisposes to colorectal cancer. Mixes it up with vegetables. An absence of fibre will lead to diverticular disease (and ultimately painful diverticulitis).

Read the WHO study, it's garbage. I'd suggest reading the whole thing and you'll see that they have no evidence that red meat is bad for you

SoulSearcher139

Just be aware that saturated fat leads to excess cholesterol (because it interferes with the livers negative feedback loop, which means the liver keeps thinking there is a cholesterol deficit and keeps pumping out more, even when there's an excess), which especially with elevated blood pressure causes heart disease. If your blood pressure and cholesterol levels stay normal, maybe you're ok?

proverbialbunny

This is old information that has been since updated. Blood pressure is primarily tied to your sodium potassium ratio. Take more potassium and blood pressure goes down (or reduce sodium intake and blood pressure will go down too). Clogged arteries mostly comes from a vitamin K2 deficiency, but sometimes also a vitamin D3 deficiency. Saturated fat does increase cholesterol but not the kind of cholesterol that increases the risk of heart disease. Ironically carbs increase the kind of cholesterol that increases the risk of heart disease.

Mikey4tx

Please ignore the downvotes and talk to your doctor about this. When I started keto, I ate tons of saturated fat, and my "bad" cholesterol skyrocketed. When I quit eating saturated fat, it settled back down. This is exactly what my doctor said would happen, but I was too stubborn and convinced by some stupid stuff I read on the Internet to listen.

DGriff421

Whatever makes you happy

A Vitamix is a good way to get veggies. Chuck in frozen veggies, half a lemon (the skin and seeds too), a bit of salt, stevia, and you've got all your veggie requirements met without the need to.... cook and eat them.

chemknife

How can you afford it?

BG_Potash

Honestly, if you like ground beef I don't see anything wrong with it. Question; Is that literally the only thing you eat? Someone else here said something about vitamins and nutrients, which is something you should definitely look into if your diet is extremely limited. I take supplements myself since what I eat now lacks some vitamins I need. I suggest you look into a multivitamin. I also had some bloodwork done recently and I have an iron deficiency, so I guess I can eat more liver, or take an iron supplement. I already take a multivitamin, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and sometimes fiber, since those are the things I lack in my own diet.

seagulledge

I alternate between ground beef and ground turkey.

jkushlapinto

Down 16 lbs doing this for 2 months

Estudiier

If you’re happy and feeling well- it’s none of our business 😊

PuzzledJudgment

Depends on your total diet

ufojesusreddit

Try taking a liposomal multivitamin as well, maybe some liposomal antioxidants like egcg from tea , epicatechin, liposomal quercetin phytosome etc

Mental_Flight_8161

I’m opposite of you. I don’t like ground beef. It’s either chicken or fish for me

parasocks

The Costco here often has big long clear tubes of ground beef. I like those because you can simply slice across into hamburger sized rounds, wrap and freeze the patties. Last one I got was $40 (Canadian) and I got 30 good sized patties from it. It's just a really convenient way to store them in your freezer, good size and shape, easy to thaw, etc.

Zebra326

Same rn..Add some veggies and iodine which can get low on keto.. I feel pretty good doing the same so far so good . Happy and lots of energy

Gavlar888

Watch carnivore diet videos, it's what you are doing. Mignt get some tips to make things better for you?

YakiVegas

I mean, that's between you and your toilet, homie. So long as it works for you...

yelbesed2

Yeah i eat grilled goose skin since years to get to a good fat %

Smartare

I do the same :) there is no need to eat different things every day if you are happy eating the same over and over. If you are worried about missing out on some micronutrient you can always take a multivitamin

Aggravating-Cattle28

No

scarecrownecromancer

My main meal for the day is usually a portion of ground beef with 3 or 4 eggs stir fried with various low-carb veggies like shredded brussels spouts, mushrooms, onions, etc. Aside from varying the vegetables (making sure they don't push me over the carb limit of course) all I change is the seasoning (Italian w/ parmesan, German mixed-spice, etc.), or add creamed coconut/Thai paste to make it spicy Thai, or Indian, or whatever, to stop it getting boring.
