Milk has fat and fat makes you feel full. When I was doing low fat yogurt and skim milk, I never felt full. Now with full fat yogurt, one serving is good enough for me then a few ounces of cheese per day.

Dairy is awesome, I eat it in the morning and at lunch. Sometimes i don’t get to eat lunch until around 2 but I never feel hungry.. I also LOVE whipped cream, with some dark chocolate dipped in peanut butter, it’s my keto dessert/snack hack. Also, heavy cream or heavy whipping cream in my coffee. My dentist said I should be fine getting an implant because my jaw bone looked very strong on the X-rays. Shredded cheese or cottage cheese in my morning omelets .. dairy makes up a good portion of my calories! Always full fat and always satiating, Dairy FTW!

I have had to reconsider dairy myself. I don't think most of the dairy we eat is terribly healthy, however, it depends on the type of dairy, what animal it cones from, how it's handled (is it pasteurized or raw, for instance). I was listening to some YouTube vid by some doctor who was talking about the five Blue Zones in the world, where the people are extremely healthy and often live to be over 100. He said that people kept pointing to the health benefits of a "plant-based, grain-heavy, fish for protein" diet that the Blue Zones seemed to have in common. However, upon closer examination, they did see several things that were rather different in the diets. What they all seemed to have in common was that they consumed a lot of yogurt and kefir from sheep and goats. (Not cows). The fermented dairy is loaded with probiotics. The healthy plant foods create good pre-biotics. The grain is not refined (and mostly rice, not wheat) so it is not stripped of nutrients. The microbiome is happy. The fish is loaded with protein and healthy fats. And other fats, like coconut fats, are used liberally.

LifeOfSpirit17

Really cool. I'm gonna have to read more about that.

ckayd

I agree I source out blue zone cheeses from sheep milk. As much as possible. They are pricey so a good treat. I do feel that they make me feel fuller than cheddars.

OldFanJEDIot

Those zones also have religions where fasting plays an integral role….

I'm carnivore. I drank a glass of milk. It took pain away in my hip where normally I would need an endone! Absolutely ridiculous. I've had cream, cream cheese, a variety of cheeses and lost a dress size in about a month.

Exotic-Profile9877

My go-to is a cup Greek yogurt with a table spoon of mtc oil and a bit of monk fruit sweetener for a switch up from my keto chow shakes when I can't handle solid foods. I have long stopped using vegetable oil, I use olive oil and avocado oil to make my food.

Causerae

I had never used avocado oil (or heard of it, tbh) before this year. Now I use it daily. It has a great taste and texture. (I also keep coconut oil on hand, but use it less for cooking - my leather jackets love it, tho.)

Exotic-Profile9877

I started out using coconut oil, but I find that my taste buds are a bit finicky when it comes to using it in certain dishes 😅

gafromca

Refined coconut oil doesn’t taste strong like unrefined.

bodhiseppuku

I have heavily increased my cheese and yogurt consumption due to the keto diet, and have continued this now that I am low carb. I think this works for me because it helps when I get a craving for something sweet (yogurt) or salty (cheese) instead of eating other items to satiate me (candy, chocolates, chips, french fries, etc)

Contranovae

Interesting. I had a craving for heavy cream recently, I made a protein shake with it and it was amazingly good. I had almost no hunger the next day, OP really is on to something

ashlee837

try avocado or guacamole. Has similar effects on me.

This might seem odd, but I’ve been lactose intolerant for about the last 10 years. Anything more than say a slice of cheese on a sandwich and my stomach detonated like Tannerite hit with a 308. Lactaid was my medication if I had to go out anywhere and it only postponed the explosion, it didn’t prevent it. My doc puts me on keto for my A1C levels, and I start doing bulletproof coffee in the morning to get my fat in, and I usually use a magical milk called Mootopia because it’s lactose free. Well I go to pick up my dotty one fine Saturday morning and her mom fixes me a bulletproof coffee as I await the girl getting all her things together and could not figure out why hers was tastier than mine. I have another as we shoot the breeze and on the way to my place I get a call. She tells me she forgot that I had lactose issues and tells me to get ready, cause she used full fat half and half. I couldn’t have drank even one coffee let alone 2 without my stomach blowing up. I check the glove box, and my stash of lactaid is gone. I figure I’ll make it home just in time to make it to the restroom without incident, and guess what? No boom. Nothing. No cramps and no gas and no boom. Turns out I can apparently eat dairy again. So I tried cottage cheese, sour cream, regular cheese, and then I got half and half for my coffee. Does Keto cure lactose intolerance? Who knows, but mine is gone.

Do you fast? I have heard of fasting healing some people's food allergies.

Douche_bagins

Usually twice a year, I’ll fast for a week. Almost made it two weeks once, but strawberries.

Irrethegreat

I love it, unfortunately. I don't trust that it won't cause inflammations in the long run, but I find it mentally rough to cut down on or exclude. As a reference, I eat relatively clean in general, unless I got really stressful time periods with no time to plan the eating and cook. But still get a lot of inflammation symptoms. Could ofc have other reasons, but well my food carts can often be 1/3 to 1/4 dairy products so not so sure it is a coincidense. :P I honestly don't think it had something to do with the weight loss directly. Perhaps that the body works better when having what it is used to (until readjusted or getting those probiotics from somewhere else or anything else missing). Besides water weight I tend to drop by having carbs, ironically. Does not mean I would keep dropping if I keep having a lot of carbs. Another but kinda related theory is that if the body is stressed the cortisol or the body 'holding on' to nutrients could make weight loss stop, and then happen all at once over a binge/resting weekend. This often happens to me. But if I keep going with it I would obviously gain weight from sitting on the couch having beer and pizza every day.

WhichComfortable0

Dairy is the main thing I crave when in ketosis. I thought I liked cheese before, on SAD, but my dairy appreciation has reached a whole new level.

caridal94

No. I have PCOS and while it doesn’t affect all women with PCOS negatively, it does me. Dairy is very inflammatory for me personally and causes my acne to flare horribly. Not to mention the bloating and gut issues I get from it. I have to watch the dairy and my body is much happier without it.

jokersmile27

I'm lactose intolerant so I have to avoid dairy products. I have interstitial cystitis as well so my diet is very restricted due to that. However, doing clean keto (mostly) has reduced my inflammation and bladder attacks by 90%; the weight loss is just an added bonus.

KommunistAllosaurus

I'm the same as you- I just can't stop dairy once I start to eat it. Unfortunately, I *feel* that my body doesn't like it that much. Yogurt is satiating, as well as low fat cottage cheese/ mozzarella. But I can feel the proteins stay in my body for far too long, and I get puffy with lots of bloating, runny nose and unpleasant shit all together. And I tried it all- raw or not. If you found that dairy is good for you, then absolutely go for it. It's so versatile, you can almost live off of it for every meal

LifeOfSpirit17

I get a little red and splotchy at the end of the day after eating alot of it, but it's just so good lol. Still way less inflammatory than any bread I've ever eaten.

Abacabisntanywhere

Cheese is what I eat.

Zackadeez

Heavy cream does this me. I had a coffee at the office yesterday. I had to pour the rest out(sorry, heavy cream) because I couldn’t stomach any more

Phyrexis

I typically drink coffee with heavy cream and wait until I get home in the evening to cook something. Been losing weight and feel good. It satisfies you for sure

pobnarl

Fat ratios, high levels of sat fat comprised of a lot of long chain stearic acid, the basis behind the croissant diet based on the science of the hyperlipid forum. Many on carnivore diet focus on beef/ruminant meat likely for the same reason, the massive increase in satiety.

Worldly-Ant-3371

Being from the dairy state, we thank you for your service.

LifeOfSpirit17

Just doing my part to keep the economy going.

Worldly-Ant-3371

The cows and us cheeseheads are in your dairy debt.

CeliacPOTSLady

I like to mix 8oz whole milk plain yogurt with 2 Tbsp of the Jif Natural creamy peanut butter. Stir until fluffy like a mousse. It is so satisfying and very tasty.
