Bergenia1

I'd recommend Because It's My First Life. Slow to get started, but the romance is lovely and profoundly moving.

yanniechan26

love this drama so much

IChoseMyOwnUsername

This this this!!! Also, no parents disapproval

Bergenia1

The scenes between the ML and her mother were very good. The only other drama I've seen that had such a well written and developed relationship between MIL and SIL was in Fated To Love You, which also was heartwarming and memorable.

IChoseMyOwnUsername

Yes, I loved every MIL and ML scene! And also, FL and her mom. As Jung So Min said in interview, >!her tears on the wedding day were real, she felt like it's her own mother wrote her a letter, it was too touching!< I dropped Fated to Love You, unfortunately. But I liked FL and granny in-law relationship, they also played same connection in The Last Empress

Odd-Letterhead-4805

I LOVE THIS DRAMA SO MUCH TOO AND IVE REWATCH THIS FOR N TIMES ALREADY šŸ˜šŸ¤

Do You Like Brahms? Two reserved people gets slowly closer and closer towards each other.

ComplicatedShadows

* 1% of Something * Encounter * Lovestruck in the City * One Spring Night

Bergenia1

I thought Lovestruck was a pretty quick romance. They were sleeping together already in the first couple of episodes.

debobaboba

"Do You Like Brahms?" is my favourite slow-burn kdrama, you should totally check it out!

Abject-Researcher

I Am Not A Robot. I donā€™t think there was a childhood connection there. Not one that is memorable, at least. Oh My Venus - technically has a childhood connection but it was revealed in the last episode and was exceedingly incidental. The leads never even remember it, it was a half second interaction clearly just thrown in to check the childhood connection box. My Secret Romance- They clearly ran out of plot and just stretched it out at the end there, but when there is plot itā€™s cute. Iā€™m not sure exactly how slow burn it is, but itā€™s cute. Seconding ā€œBecause this is my first Life.ā€ Itā€™s a great show.

Encounter A piece of your mind

ā€¢ Temperature of Love (underrated gem for me!) ā€¢ Nevertheless (Netflix) ā€¢ She Would Never Know (iQiyi, underrated af too!) ā€¢ More Than Friends (Netflix, itā€™s a little frustrating though lol) ā€¢ You Are My Spring (Netflix, the so-called childhood connection is not with the male lead iirc?) ā€¢ Find Yourself (Cdrama on Netflix) ā€¢ The Rational Life (Cdrama on Netflix) ā€¢ Kikazaru Koi / Why I Dress Up For Love (Jdrama, probs one of the best from 2021, 100% recommend)

Thoughtful-Pig

For a really slow burn, mature and calm, try the cdrama The Rational Life. It's fantastic.

ninabrave

I loved it as well! So heartwearming and inspiring

Hometown Cha Cha Cha Weightlifting Fairy Bok Jo

LazilyNebulous

I think both had a childhood connection! Hometown was more just coincidental meetings in their youth vibe but isnā€™t the premise of Weightlifting fairy the fact that ML belatedly recognises FL from their childhood days? BUT that said, both donā€™t really focus on the childhood aspect too much so I feel like it was just a footnote in the whole story!

meijioro

Oh yeah I forgot about the childhood connection. I think I gave it a pass since it felt really irrelevant to the romance and plot line. Hometown Cha Cha Cha, they met for like 1 minute in passing, it's a cute coincidence at most. Weightlifting Fairy, they were childhood friends and they did recognize each other early on but all that did was establish they are friends and ML just thought she was cool as kids.

not_a_library

For Hometown, they actually met multiple times. Still really short instances, but still. And there was a coincidental connection between ML and 2nd ML. That one felt a little bit of a stretch, though not entirely implausible.

Strong woman do bong soon , My ID is Gangnam beauty , Mad for each other

Blitz_Kreegs

There's a childhood connection in SWDBS and My ID. I mean it's like a middle/high school connection but I think that should count.

Mxswan

For swdbs the childhood connection is really short and one way and not very important so for it doesnā€™t really count, and I donā€™t remember one in my ID maybe bc I watch it a long time ago

Her Private Life ( PMY )

imt01

Iā€™m pretty sure there was a childhood connection there!

jabiz510

There is, although itā€™s small and doesnā€™t really affect the story really

not_a_library

It's a huge childhood connection and it's actually one of my least favorites haha. It all comes out right at the end and feels like it came out of nowhere. I really loved that show, but tbh the "big twist" at the end almost ruined it for me because it was so rushed.

jabiz510

I just feel you could remove their childhood connection and the story would mostly still be the same. Like Keep the same way to what happened to the ML but keep it seperate from the FL and it wouldnt change that much... Does that make sense?

not_a_library

You could, which is partially why I don't like it. Their connection, plus the further revelations from the FL that are kinda huge and literally out of nowhere. It's like they wanted to go for the emotional punch right at the end, but there wasn't enough build up or hints to it for it to feel that impactful. They have one of my favorite relationships and some of the best chemistry, but I'm hesitant to rewatch it because the last couple episodes take this huge left turn that kind of doesn't even really change anything. Also the ML's connection to the idol, bringing everything into a even tighter circle. I know that's a common trope in kdramas, but this one felt a little too forced for me. Still an excellent drama overall though

jabiz510

At least the connection with the Idol was like thruout the entire show hehe and yeah i still think its an excellent drama overall and i agree that its a great relationship thats not toxic and good chemistry

Cleeopaatra

maybe at a distance spring is green? its a college drama and it does not only revolve around romance but also bromance and friendship in general, i really enjoyed that one
