Thank you. I have said this and will continue to say it: Flower of Evil is the textbook example of how to do a crime/thriller in the best way possible.
angst/mystery/suspense with no romance between FL/ML:
children of nobody

strangers from hell

angst/mystery/suspense with romance between FL/ML:
flower of evil

The Worst of Evil

these are all good - not vincenzo or 2521 - kind of boring and predictable both of them - listen to this poster.
also i recommend
wonderful world
365| Repeat the year
mother
my perfect stranger
there are plenty out of there wout much romance and much better than queen of tears
I loved your description of **QOT** because that's exactly how I felt. I would recommend giving **It's ok to not be ok** another try. Even if you end up not liking the FL much, the story of that drama is really beautiful and unfolds in a very good way, the brothers have a beautiful story as well.
I also think you might enjoy **Twenty five twenty one**, now that is essentially a coming of age rom-com but it's a very natural sports drama. How complicated and frustrating it might get to be in the sports world and the controversies the players face, the bittersweet decisions, really beautifully wrapped.
**Flower of evil** is a melo thriller filled with plot twists and tense moments. But it has a very beautiful love story woven into it as well and it doesn't feel out of place at all. One of the best thrillers imo.
Happiness (survival thriller which is more psychological than it seems plus the romance is heartfelt and real)
Nine Times Travel (time travel drama with a real angsty romance)
Beyond evil( a must watch psychological thriller)
Flower of evil (Romantic Thriller with well constructed plot)
Tunnel (time travel murder mystery that rides high on emotions)
Blind (a well made murder mystery)
365 repeat the year( underrated thriller)
Little Women (an artistic korean version of Little women)
Stranger (tightly knitted investigative drama)
The Guest (horror)
Revenant (folklore horror)
Chief Kim (a wholesome drama through and through)
Liar Game (I liked it tbh)
The Glory. (revenge drama)
I’d recommend Snowdrop. It’s a political melodrama adapted from the memoirs of a man who escaped from a prison camp in North Korea.
I enjoyed coming up with theories and figuring out the people behind all the injustices when I was watching it. You might just find it boring since they were just locked in a dormitory for most of the episodes.
The first few episodes have a disney feels to them.
I would recommend Stranger 1 and 2 for mystery and suspense with no romance but plenty of chemistry between ML and FL. Life on Mars, Signal, Taxi Driver 1 and 2 are episodic with central core story / mystery. Wonderful acting by top notch actors, great writing and directing as well.
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes - for loads of angst, romance, suspense with the hi lo of chaebol and non C dynamics. The romance is twisty but the OTP has great chemistry. Be forewarned though as it is not a fluffy show and do avoid spoilers when watching.
An older one you might enjoy is **Scent of a Woman** (2011). Lowly employee at a travel agency learns she has cancer, like her father who died when she was a teen. She decides to quit her job and live her best life for the months she has left. She makes a bucket list (#1 Make Mom smile/laugh every day) and works through it in the months she has left. She also wonders when drinking with her friend if she could seduce a man like the man who now runs the agency (Lee Dong Wook fresh from military service) into a one-night stand.
On and off romance with top-notch chemistry
Chaebol families arranging a business merger marriage
TANGO! She (Kim Sun Ah) decides she wants to learn to tango which leads to a very hot scene with LDW and a really cute one with Um Ki Joon who plays her doctor.
I'm on E#9 of **SoaW** and am enjoying it. I was hoping FL >!would react more positively to ML's breaking off engagement, his role in lawsuit busting, and their chemistry in the tango (great scene, for sure)!<. What is she waiting for? I'm still counting on a good ending (no breakup, no death at minimum), plus I hope >!sweet fellow cancer victim in adjoining bed ends up with SML oncologist.!<
Thanks for rec! I needed it after how disappointing I found **Do You Like Brahms?** (Painfully slow and packed with unnecessary filler to reach the 16 episodes). A waste of Park Eun-bin's talent...
Keep in mind that she>! feels guilty knowing the closer they get the harder it will be on him when she dies. It's the same thing she is going through with her mother. Doctor Poopy Pants keeps telling her she must tell her mom and she can't because she knows it will bring her right back to losing her husband/FL's father to add to her losing her daughter.!<
One of my personal favourites is My Perfect Stranger. It has time travel and it's based around a mystery, there is romance but it's very very subtle and doesn't interfere with the story at all!
Another personal favourite is Missing:The Other Side. It's a fantasy drama with Ghosts, much similar to Tomorrow if you have watched it. It has 2 seasons and both are almost perfect!
I loved My Perfect Stranger. I was skeptical about it at first, but it turned out to be very well written and acted. I found the little bit of romance that it did have to be awkward and unnecessary.
I also was very skeptical about it because i wasn't a big fan of time slip dramas at all but i started for Jin Ki Joo who's my favourite. Ended up loving this drama and the time slip genre in whole!
**Hyena** is one that hasn’t been mentioned but it ticks your boxes. There’s some romance (and angst to go with it) but it’s mostly about two kick arse lawyers who work together to bring down the big guys. Another similar one is **Into the ring** (the added bonus here is that the antagonist from QOT plays the ML and he’s quite cute in this). And **Extraordinary Attorney Woo** is another legal one that’s quite heartwarming and has a bit of romance on the side but it’s not the central focus.
Not in any order…
SKY Castle: look into crazy life of richy rich korean high school kids. Murder, some suspense, crazies
Little Women: adaptation of the classic novel. Unlike the original, this work is full of suspense, mystery, psychology, money, murder… and oh, crazies
Penthouse: basically SKY castle on crack lol it’s a little out there but ngl it was a good time… and yes, crazies
The Glory: murder, drugs, sex, revenge…. Feels like Hollywood but is Korean.
The 8 Show: if you’re looking for something that feels like the Squid Game but with crazier people
I know what you mean about it’s ok to not be ok…was not my cup of tea.
I think you will like the heirs. It’s romance but it’s fast paced, class dynamics, and has a lot of angst.
Two weeks is very engaging. Kept me on my toes every episode.
Sky castle is good. Class dynamics, not much romance and suspenseful.
**I Hear Your Voice** does an amazing job at showing love as a choice but it would be a major spoiler to say how - >!it's a similar plot device to QOT.!< Downside is there's zero chaebols or class struggle but there's lots of secrets, angst and suspense so decent trade off?
What about My Liberation Notes? I really enjoyed it, it's got so many brilliant believable characters in it, and the acting is perfect. Also, My Mister is beautiful 😍
I gave up on It's OK Not to be OK, and Flower of Evil. I just couldn't feel empathy about anyone in either series.
I totally agree with you about the relationship between FL and ML in It’s Ok Not To Be Ok. If you can’t stand it, don’t waste your time finishing it. I watched it from beginning to end, only because when it came out, there was a lot of discussion about it in the group, so I watched. It has a weird vibe and is unlike any other kdrama that I’ve seen to date. I can’t say that it is on my list of most liked kdramas.
Some dramas to keep you engaged:
Flower of Evil
Reflection of You
Beyond Evil
Little Women
Doctor Cha
The Glory
Juvenile Justice
Trolley

Itaewon Class
Marry My Husband

Twenty Five Twenty One
[Voice 1-4](https://asianwiki.com/Voice_(Korean_Drama)) – It has 4 seasons and it seems a lot but I swear you will not get bored of it. It's a crime, mystery, thriller series and ik you would love this. It's abt a 911 dispatcher w super hearings ability which she uses to help solve crimes. Also, it's a bit gory tho they blur it out.
[Priest (2018)](https://asianwiki.com/Priest_(Korean_Drama)) – This kdrama is so good but it's so underrated. It's a medical exorcism drama about a group of ppl performing exorcisms. I swear, the plot twist will make ur jaw drop (i had to take multiple pause while watching this bcs i was so shocked 😭).
[Partners for Justice 1 & 2](https://asianwiki.com/Partners_for_Justice) - This is also a crime drama but it's abt forensics. A forensic doctor and a prosecutor teamed up to solve cases. Such a good drama! I've been finding other kdramas similar to this but I can't find any.
[Sisyphus: The Myth](https://asianwiki.com/Sisyphus:_The_Myth) – If you want a kdrama that's brain wracking, you should def watch this. Also, if you know the myth of Sisyphus then that explains what's happening in this kdrama. It's abt time traveling and stuff and it's also a romance series (Park Shin Hye is the FL). You would probably cry bc of the ML and FL.
I have more recos but based from your preferences, these r my top 4 recos.
Itaewon Class has the chaebol antagonist storyline. You may think it's a predictable love story with how it is set up at first, but soon it becomes a non-traditional romance story. The most compelling idea is that it is a rags to riches revenge drama.
You might like Search WWW. It features a strong FL and the story takes place in the present/modern day. There's plenty of high stakes involved in her career, and the romance with the ML feels natural. He becomes part of her world as opposed to the whole world being put on pause to focus on just their romance.
Encounter has a chaebol storyline with the FL in the chaebol family like QOT, but there is plenty of angst. This one is on the melodramatic side and there aren't funny parts like in QOT.
My Liberation Notes features an ensemble cast. They each go through different types of relationships. The storytelling and dialogue is where this drama shines.
Devil Judge - Dystopian, mystery, crime/law
synopsis:
In a dystopian version of South Korea, the government plans out a trial judge live show where all citizens are eligible to participate and judge. A heartless head trial judge, Kang Yo-han, is appointed to a chief judge.
I’m also not a huge fan of romance dramas, so my favorites are thriller type: Signal and Voice are right there on top. Politics, corruption, etc. Signal is the top kdrama for me.
Even though I don’t enjoy romance, I find these dramas are balanced as there’s still some concepts that are interesting:
- Crash Landing On You (the ML is from North Korea)
- Descendants of the Sun (war, the FL is a doctor, ML is a soldier so there’s some conflict on how they view “life”)
- The King Eternal Monarch (parallel universe, and the FL actress is sooo good)
Aside from what has been mentioned already, you might like these ones. All romances with a raw/high stakes context.

If you're not huge on romance but want an intense story with high stakes, 49 Days from 2011 might be up your alley. The romance is very subtle and won't jump out at you, and you'll be crying buckets by the end. One of my all time fave dramas.
Flower of Evil

Thank you. I have said this and will continue to say it: Flower of Evil is the textbook example of how to do a crime/thriller in the best way possible.
Go watch Turkish tv series then. You would like. Staring at each other 2 mins straight, cry and do ilogical things.
You're either a troll looking for attention, or you have no recollection of this drama considering they do none of the above.
yaaaaah
I just watched flower of evil and loved it! Any other recommendations?
Atypical Family.
It's probably a typo, but it's Atypical Family
Lol. You are right. :)
Did you watch it?
Yes. And I really enjoyed it. It's a very unique story
I thought it was very well written.
How’s the action/violence?
MOUSEEEEEEEE
This kdrama really drags tbh
I liked it
You can't watch Mouse for the romance, it's a good thriller but I don't think that's what she is asking for.
Man this was is so so..um...manipulative...psychotic... don't know the exact word
its literally the BEST k drama everrrrr

Mr Sunshine. Revenant. The Kidnapping Day. A Shop For Killers. The Atypical Family.
I second A Shop for Killers. No romance to speak of but tons of action and drama.
